As someone who hates loot boxes and similar micro-transaction bullshittery, I wonder what I would do if my higher-ups told me I HAD to put them in my game.
I'd implement them since, you know, I'd want to keep my job. But I'd probably make them as trivial and meaningless as possible to fight the power and dissuade their use in my game.
Then again, I'm not a game developer...

No food for thought... Mousey is right: you wouldn't even be given the opportunity of having the option of doing it... you just would put it in your game or your game wouldn't see the light of day. Especially at EA or Activision.
You might get away with making really cool cosmetic $hit so it's actually worth paying for at Ubisoft tho...

If your meaningless cosmetic items were not making money you'd be fired and the next person up would do their job properly. (By do their job properly I mean separate fools from their money).

I mean.... the only way to NOT have microtransactions is to out-Battlefront Battlefront by making them SO blatantly excessive and so blatantly intrinsic to success that even EA would blush.
That way, the "law" or the public would step in, riot, and you could re-release your game without MT and maybe people would come back to you, seeing that "you've changed"
But that might be like wanting to renovate your bathroom/k-it-ch-e-n/house, so you burn down your house and hope you don't get charged with insurance fraud and/or arson.
EDIT: seriously... NOPE is banned? K-it-che-n?

LOL, that spouse requested renovation must have been a lot worse than mine.
Anyway, I have learned to ignore the current COD market thingie, the green arrow when some crap is unlocked is the only thing that bothers me now <_<.
