Very interesting. I didn't know things were so rough at Sledgehammer. It's a shame, too, if the maps in CoD: WW2 weren't literally the worst I've ever seen I think it could have been top 3 in the franchise easily. We'll probably get a repeat of how rushed BO4 was since they're losing an entire year of dev time, hopefully recycling the campaign they threw out saves them a good chunk of that.

Not sure if the Kotaku article mentions it, but I read somewhere it’s to be a Cold War-era game. Which suits me just fine.

How about a "soft reboot" of Modern Warfare for the upcoming year? It's crazy how much flailing is going on with this series.

They’ve tried to be every other game and have had mixed results at best. CoD should be CoD, not Halo, Destiny, Titanfall, or Fortnite. Grounded combat with real-world guns. That was it’s bread and butter for years. Going back to that seems like the smart play.

War in WW2 is the only bright spot for me. Everything else is mediocre, been done or sucks. Not sure if the Kotaku article mentions it, but I read somewhere it’s to be a Cold War-era game. As much as I like the return to real-world theming, it's very worrying how it will play out. Black Ops 4 was let down, and now Treyarch has to switch over to help Raven and Sledgehammer finish the next game. The support has been lackluster or missing. Of the few season passes I've bought, BO4's is the worst.

I really enjoyed the blackout game mode. I know it wasn't everyones cup of tea but it was basically COD without all the stupidity to me.
Heavy metal heroes released towards the end with boost jumping and unlimited grapple hooks was also nice and in good timing.
With MW having a variety of game modes I wonder why a COD can't make playlists with and without boost jumps.

This series desperately needs an MW2 remaster.

It would be like the MW remaster. It can never be 10 years ago again.
