Rant warning.
So after installing the Season 4 update for MW2019 on my Xbox One X shortly after it became available in the morning of June 11th. I went to log-in and play later on that day, but instead of automatically logging me in based on my Xbox Gamertag profile it requested me to sign into my Activision account. I thought that was strange because it never requested me to manually sign-in before when I was already signed into my Xbox profile.
I recalled hearing about people having Account issues in the past after one of the earlier MW2019 updates some time after the game released, so I didn’t do anything with the sign-in and simply tried restarting the game in hopes that it would take care of itself. Unfortunately, the same issue persisted. So I tried a hard reboot of my Xbox. Again, I ran into the same issue. Since I figured it was likely a known problem with the update I decided to give it some time assuming tech support would eventually address the issue via a patch in short order; however, I also tweeted the twitter accounts of Joe Cecot, David Mickner, Ashton Williams, Activision Support, Infinity Ward, and Call of Duty regarding my problem. Unfortunately, I’ve not gotten a response from any of them.
After a few days, I again tried to play the game to no avail. This time I did try to log into my Activision account in-game (over my Xbox) but it didn’t work. Later on I tried signing-in on the Activision website by means of the Xbox account link and by manually putting in my email and password, but instead it just kicked me over to create-an-account. I had originally created my Activision account in order to be active on their [old] forums (prior to them being deleted) in order to provide feedback and report issues. Again, I figured this oddity must be related to a known bug based on a more recent tweet I saw from Ashton (after the Season 4 update) in which she mentioned they were aware of some account problems occurring, so I patiently waited.
In the following days I would periodically attempt to play the game only to find the same problem. I would occasionally follow up with additional tweets to those mentioned above seeking assistance and clarity on the progress of the Account problems they were working on. As typical, my tweets seemed to fall on deaf ears as I got no response. I continue to tweet them looking for assistance, but I don't have hope that I'll get a response.
I reached out to some of my friends who were a part of my Regiment, which I founded, to find out if my account was still in the Regiment. I was told they were kicked out of the Regiment and that they thought I kicked them out. So, as far as I can tell, it seems like my Regiment is gone too. Friday & Saturday (06-19-20 + 06-20-20) I attempted to chat with an Activision support member by way of the Activision Support website, but without an Activision account it doesn’t seem to let me make contact. I’m paranoid about creating a new account just to chat with someone in case that may make my old account impossible to recover.
I've also attempted to reset my account's password in case that was a way to get back into my Activision account, but when I enter the email address that was linked to my account I never receive a reset password email despite numerous attempts. And yes, I've been checking my junk mail. I think this is because my Activision account is legitimately gone, but I’m trying to hold to hope that it could potentially be recovered if only I could receive some actual assistance from Activision's Tech Support. I’ve also checked the CoD App in hopes of viewing some sign of my Activision account still existing as well as my gaming history, but according to the App that history is now nonexistent.
This was the first CoD title since MW3 where I've legitimately sunk a lot of time into. I grinded every weapon for attachment completion, reached the rank of 155 for each season, and completed the Seasonal Battle Passes too which was a $10 investment beyond the purchase of the game. Now, I'm just left with wondering what the hell happened? And I'm completely puzzled as to why can't I get any assistance from anyone who can help with regards to this issue. I've attempted to reach out to them in nearly every way possible and I just can't get any support. It's getting to the point where I may never invest in an Activision product ever again. Primarily based on the customer support they provide. It's absolutely horrendous. Pathetic.
End rant.
