The more I think about it, the easier it seems.
All the big name YouTube/twitch people have expressed that they're unhappy with how CoD is being handled.
If I were EA or Epic or some other company that would like to steal CoD's billion dollars, I would invite all those content creators out for a week event to try out my (solid) CoD clone. Let them play it and be like, "Aight, this is pretty damn good," but they might still be thinking, I dunno if it's enough to pull away from CoD.
Ask them for feedback throughout. Take notes. At the end of the week, be like we've been taking your feedback. Here's a list what we're already planning to change. Thanks to YOUR feedback. "Yeah. We actually listen. Us asking you for feedback wasn't just fishing for hype quotes."
Hype builds.
"Oh yeah. And we're committed to maintaining a healthy game. Expect frequent updates and lots of communication from us after launch. This games about the players. A healthy meta is crucial to a healthy community. Here's a season 1 roadmap."
More hype.
"You know, the only bad thing is that the changes y'all want will have to wait until tomorrow... Because the game. Launches. TOMORROW. GET HYPE!"
Hype explosion.

Win over the streamers by just doing the basic shit that should have been done by CoD the whole time. Address all the grievances that have been accumulating over the past couple years. You don't need a mind blowing gameplay gimmick to take advantage. Roughly the same solid gameplay, just without all the garbage around it. Make it fun to be a content creator again.
Win over the streamers and on launch day you have millions of eyes looking at your game. And the ears are hearing about how it's fixing all the problems that "other shooters" have. Imagine how many people would perk up and listen when all the streamers are suddenly hyping up this new shooter that simply does the basics activision has refused to. How many millions of people make up the subscriber bases of these people? Easy money.
Launching a couple months out and maybe CoD gets its act together due to the threat that all the top content creators and hyping up. Launch the next day, and CoD dies.
