If I'm not mistaken, there's 2 main contributing factrs to the weapons' recoil: ViewKick and CenterSpeed. Firetime indirectly (or directly) affects the recoil when going full auto. GunKick is mostly ignorable since basically there are only 3 types of GunKick: guns that don't kick at all and guns that have the same kick (with 2 categories of value). So the question is: Which LMG in CoD4 has the lowest kick? I always had this thought in mind that M249 has the worst kick because it's ViewKick is identical to RPD + harder downward kick and it's high rof would mean that the ironsight will have little time to settle back to the center of the screen before the next shot is fired. But what I've seen in the killcam is totally different, there are times that a dude with SAW + RDS kicked my arse at mid range on full auto. The bullet spread was so small that it doesn't even matter at all (all shots landed onto me, or so that's what it seem). Could the harder downward kick somehow contributed to it's lower recoil or something? Or am I just hallucinating? The M60. Could it's lower overall kick and rof made it the steadiest gun to use on full auto (or possibly just with short burst), or does it's lower center speed put it on par with other LMGs?

I don't really like it on my TV. The muzzle flash from the gun covers up my iron sights. Otherwise I would use it.

I've never done any personal tests, but there was never enough of a difference for me to go "wow" at the difference that a grip made. The SAW and RPD work well enough, but I hate the M60. The grip doesn't seem to help at all, the gun is irredeemable in my eyes.

From just experience it seems that the RPD has the best recoil. SAW tends to waver away much like the MP5 does, whereas the M60 is like an AK47, but maybe more random.
Grip is useless on LMGs, yes it decreases recoil, but you may as well use Red Dot and take perk 1.

It's lag.
I see it all of the time. People will kill you with a pistol and on the killcam it doesn't even show the pistol fly up for the animation in between shots, same with LMGs, same with semi-autos.
Same thing that makes people look like they start shooting you mid-reload or are using a turbo controller.

But for people that can't handle the iron sights it makes it far easier to aim with. Plus RPD + Red Dot is always hot.

Grip on the RPD is essentially the same as Stopping Power because you'll kill in fewer shots (because more are landing) if you go full auto. It doesn't make any difference at short range, makes very little at mid range, but is extremely noticeable at long range. There's a reason why RPD + Grip + SP + Deep Impact is one of the most common classes in the history of the game. In my opinion, it's the biggest offensive juggernaut in the entire game, killing indiscriminately at any distance in little to no time at all. And anyone who runs the SAW without the grip is really missing out, IMO. One of the undocumented "features" of CoD4 is that the Grip reduces the SAW's hip spread to somewhere between that of the assault rifles and the SMGs. Basically, it turns the SAW into a big fat P90 with a slower run speed. Pair with Steady Aim and you've got one of the most surprisingly effective Run-and-Gun setups around.

Grip doesn't help?!?! Are you playing on a 14'' black and white projection TV?
Grip on an RPD seems to HALVE the recoil. Seriously.
I can snipe snipers and kill them in two successive hits too often to ignore -- while with the red dot sight... I get in trouble at medium range if I go up against an MP5 user with UAV jammer and silencer.
