So I'm getting mixed word on whether prestiging relocks everything, or not. I heard weapons remain unlocked, retain their experience but lock and a bunch of other stuff. Also, what's weapon prestige entail o.o

I'm pretty sure you get to choose. How many? I want to know if its even worth prestigious at all? If I unlock a weapon fully and I prestige, do I need to level it up again?

Just prestiged . . . You get to unlock 1 create a class item gun/perk etc permanently. In addition, you get to choose one of these 3: extra Create a class, reset stats, refund unlock tokens.

Say you're deep into a prestige and you've used 35 unlock tokens in create a class but you're getting bored or want to go on a completely different route... You can use this to get the tokens you spent back. Basically locks all the create a class items again and you get your tokens back.

I see, so you purchase it at the end of a prestige and can only use it in the middle/end of a prestige. I thought it would be dumb if you could use it to get the tokens you used in the previous prestige refunded so you could spend them towards your current one. Probably not worth an extra CaC slot.

I'm taking ghost with me after 1st prestige.
It's about the only thing they cannot nerf from here on.
Is that right that you get 1 unlock token first prestige and 'more than 1' 2nd, 3rd etc or is it just 1 unlock / level.

do not use the reset your stats thing after prestiging
what you would think it does: it wipes your leaderboard stuffs clean
what it actually does: it wipes your leaderboard stuff clean, you start at rank 1, prestige zero, no unlocks, no nothing. You lose every single thing. It's essentially the same as putting in the game for the first time
pretty damn useless

So I understand that you can't unlock all weapons/perks/equipment on your first playthrough. But can someone explain to me how many EXTRA unlocks you get per prestige in order to get them all buy prestige 10?

Well, I am prestige 2 and I only got one permanent unlock both times I prestiged. It's possible you get more unlocks once you hit 3, etc but I don't know that.

Well, I am prestige 2 and I only got one permanent unlock both times I prestiged. It's possible you get more unlocks once you hit 3, etc but I don't know that. Read this post again and I was wrong: oneofswords.com/2012/09/in-deeper-with-call-of-duty-black-ops-ii-multiplayer/So, in Black Ops II, activating Prestige mode does not reset your weapon XP or your Challenge progress – you simply pick up where you left off when you wrap around. “Black Ops II is designed to continue to be played,” explains Vahn. “We want you to Prestige.” Each time you do, you will receive a Prestige Unlock Token, which is different from the standard level progression token. You can use this to ignore the level gate and unlock an item permanently, much like you can in MW3. You can choose between adding a create-a-class slot, resetting all your stats to factory-fresh status (“Keep your little brother away from that button,” warns Vahn), or refunding your standard level tokens. Like re-speccing or re-rolling your character in an MMO, a refund will give you back all the unlock tokens you have spent so far in that Prestige level for you to redistribute as you see fit. Vahn illustrated with a specific example from his own experience: Say you are working on a Claymore Challenge, but you don’t finish it up before you hit max level and Prestige. You can Prestige, finish up the Challenge, then refund your points for that level and start working on a different challenge with different equipment if you want. And – most importantly for hardware players — when you hit the highest level of Prestige (level 10 in Black Ops II), you will be awarded the title of Prestige Master and all content is unlocked. Access to all the toys – you can has it.

This is what i thought too. With only one 'unlock token' per Prestige,...wow, that's pretty limiting. If I don't perm unlock some of the higher guns/perks/equip....that means for many of the items, i will never use. A lot of people never make it to 10th. So they are never to use Ghost? TI? Never try them? If it's just one unlock all the way through, that's ridiculous.

Never try them? If it's just one unlock all the way through, that's ridiculous. There are 11 free unlocks per prestige: 1 Assault Rifle 1 SMG 1 LMG 1 Shotgun 1 Sniper Rifle 1 Perk from each of the 3 perk categories 1 lethal grenade 1 tactical grenade/equipment 3 scorestreaks This means that players who don't get to prestige master will have 11 + 55 + N (number of times prestiged, <= 9) = 66 - 75 items unlocked. Inventory of unlockable items: Perks: 16 Wildcard: 8 Lethal equipments: 6 Tactical equipments: 9 Score streaks: 22 AR: 9 SMG: 6 LMG: 4 SR: 4 Shotty: 4 Pistol: 5 Launchers: 3 Special: 3 Total: 99 (unless I missed something, the original claim of 100+items is a lie :-) ) So for these players, they just need to pick 24-33 items they don't want, which shouldn't be difficult considering that you can just pick the top 2-3 personal favorite from each weapon class.

Continue my topic above: assuming that a player plans to prestige 5 times (to get the 5 custom loadouts), he'll have 71 unlocks, or need to pick 28 things to not unlock.
To come up with this 28:
1) Only unlock the best LMG: -3 2) Unlock 1 bolt action SR and 1 semi-atuo SR: -2 3) Unlock 1 auto AR, 1 burst AR and 1 semi auto AR: -6 4) Unlock 1 shotty (for non shotty players): -3 5) Unlock 2 pistols: -2 6) Say no to Crossbow and ballistic knife: -2 7) Say no to Claymore: -1
The above would save you 19 unlocks. The rest of 9 has to come from the scorestreaks. That's OK because you can 1) play with scorestreaks in League Play (play like a noob during placement matches so you get placed in the lowest division possible, and then own the players there assuming that they are not wolf in sheep's skin like you :-) ), 2) play with them in combat training, 3) get them through care package.

I read and read and cannot believe ...
It could be so nice and simple: 10 prestiges := 10 additional custom slots (total: 15 custom + 5 default) and one bonus (and competitive) SR LMG AR SMG Shotgun after every odd prestige number .. Maybe bonus cammos/reticules at even prestiges .... Something nice and friendly to customers ...

Now I'm confused again. If I only get one permanent unlock per prestige it's going to be a long road as I only normally get to about prestige 7 over the life of the game. The inclusion of free tokens on mw3 helped me a lot. Ghost, high level smg+ar will take 3 prestiges. The payback is, of course, I have no grind to unlock the attachments.

I think the one with the Skorpion? Anyway, at this point I'd much rather have that original class back than the custom slot I have. I guess I'd recommend maybe selecting the re-roll or whatever for the first few prestiges if you find the default classes useful.

My guess is that when you reach P10 lvl 55 you receive extra tokens to unlock whatever you haven't unlocked yet. Otherwise it was total BS when they said you would have everything unlocked. Anyone know how far machinima has made it in the prestige "race"?
Edit: They are only P5
