Hmm, they're both good IMO, it would a hard decision for me too. I've done pretty decent equally with both of them.

Type 25 sucks, it's not accurate enough.

I don't think either of them are the best AR. I think it's between the M8A1 and the FAL OSW.

I really like the type 25, but I tend to avoid CQ unless i have a sidearm out. especially against all the smgs.

The Type isn't nearly as bad at CQC as people seem to think it is. It is, essentially, the MP7/Vector of the ARs, and what guns do you see so much of? The MP7 and Vector. Slap a Laser Sight on it and your hip fire is just as good as a non-Laser'd SMG (which is still pretty gosh darn golly gee whiz good). The only problem I have with the Type is not enough Pick 10 points to go around. It burns through ammo so it requires Scavenger. It needs to be ADS for mid-long range and at 4-5 BTK you need Toughness (though I could say that about all the ARs, really. Toughness is fantastic overall). Standard mag size at 937rpm = ExMags or Fast Mags pretty much necessary.
The MTAR is pretty hit or miss for me. I'm a TAR loyalist so I'm going to use it, but it just feels totally bleh at just about everything. I know it's supposed to be the "jack of all trades" style gun but even the M4 in MW3 had some great characteristics in its recoil and CQC TTK. The MTAR is good out to shotgun range to capitalize on its 3HK but that's about it. The recoil looks to be similar to the AK/Commando of BO1, but it just feels worse than those two. The slow RPM means it's outclassed anywhere outside of its short 3HK range. It does require less setup than the Type, though. I could definitely use Scavenger but it's not totally necessary; I can usually get at least a round of streaks before needing to switch to another gun. It lets me run Primary Gunfighter + Greeding Hardline to go along with Ghost.

but even the M4 in MW3 had some great characteristics Even. EVEN. GO DIE, YOU BLASPHEMER. MTAR's 3HK range is 14m, a distance at which most shotguns would be relatively useless. Sure they may be able to reach that far, but they won't inflict any real damage unless ADS + AFK/Oblivious camp.

Once your engagement range exceeds the 3HK range, just about every other AR is better. You essentially have to play the MTAR like a slower, clunkier MSMC.

MTAR does have a longer range than the Type 25, if that's of any interest.

top auto ar then It probably comes down to the SCAR vs. the AN-94 if you have to use an automatic AR. The SCAR has a considerable advantage in range, especially for a 4SK; the AN-94 has more predictable and easily compensated vertical recoil, and the fire rate bonus of the second bullet pushes its TTK way up if you're accurate. I favor the AN-94, but it seems to be a pretty big "love it or hate it" type of gun on this forum. Regardless, you really should be using an M8A1 or FAL. The superior TTK and minimal recoil they put out are kind of hard to justify leaving for the slightly nerfed automatic AR they have in BO2.

It has the slowest kill time out of all the auto ARs also.

Slowest kill time in 3HK range only. It's going to have better kill time than a lot of the weapons simply because of its extreme accuracy. Why do you think the ACR was so good? It was trash up close but because of its accuracy, it could make up for that deficiency by landing more bullets even against a weapon that took one less bullet to kill. A 3HK range that extends only to the edge of shotgun range isn't really that big of an advantage when SMGs can crush you with hip fire from further out than that.

i dont like the 4hk of the type, or the bumpyness and the low rpm of the tar either way, tar is superior before range dropoff type is superior hipfire and long range

Yeah, when I first started playing the game I was wondering which of the two would be my go to AR, and now a week later I realize it's neither of them. They're really two of the worst ARs in the game.

M8A1 SF = best auto AR

they're both far from the best. I have moderate success with them both, neither really more than the other, but one thing about the Type 25 is that when you slap on a Laser Sight it becomes an almost-SMG.
Right now it's looking like the 2 best ARs are the M8A1 and FAL. The M8A1's 4 round burst is a little awkward at first and takes a bit to get used to, probably because it's the first 4 round burst rifle we've seen in CoD... and probably any FPS for that matter. I've just never heard of a 4 round burst before. But once you master it, it has the potential to kill as fast as the Skorpion, but out to much longer ranges. The FAL full-auto has literally zero spread. Every bullet will go in the exact same place. It's a bit ridiculous.
I also really like the SCAR and M27. The one thing that cripples the M27, however, is the idle sway. This can easily be removed with the ACOG... but then you are stuck with the ACOG. The SCAR is just pure awesome. Very solid, dependable gun.
The AN94 can do work as well, as long as you put Select Fire on it and 2-burst. The fact I like pretty much every Assault Rifle in the game (save for maybe the SMR) shows how hard Treyarch worked to avoid having a bunch of garbage, underpowered, worthless guns like they did in BO1, while also making them all feel distinct and unique.
I have a sinking feeling they will be nerfing the M8A1 and FAL (they couldn't really nerf one without the other) or at least the select-fire variants. I just hope they don't go overboard and end up making them useless or generic.

MTAR vs Type 25 is like AUG vs FAMAS. One sprays, the other reliably kicks in one direction.
Ive had pretty good success with both, although I feel a little more comfortable with the MTAR. Cant go wrong with either.

ikts not like the AUG vs FAMAS discussion because both weapons were essneitally the same with the famas having more predictable recoil (only upward- right, aug into all directions equally) and both were CLEARLY the best ARs in the game.
this time around, treyarch played a little more with the weapon ranges and I cant really make out a definitive winner :/

Idk, im not sure about the M8, it "feels" like it doesn't have a lot of power, even when i hit with my shots. It is extremely accurate though. I haven't tried it with select fire yet, does it suffer anything other than the rpm dropoff?

Its easier just to hold down the trigger but its a little bit of a waste of an attachment to me. I could just shoot the FAL at 450 on my own by letting it recenter before i shoot. Then I still get the advantage of being able to spam it at 515 close range. IMO, select fire on the FAL hurts it because you need to switch between fire modes to obtain something you can get without it, and it wastes a point on the attachment.

the m27, scar or an94 are your guns of choice. or if you want some crazy doo-doo just play m8 The m27 just plain sucks, the scar is pretty much outclassed by the an94 because they both have really long 3hk ranges that they will rarely be 4hk so any extra range doesnt matter and the an94 shoots faster plus it's more accurate. The an94 i could see as competition for the mtar but after you shoot 4 bullets its average rpm is 700 however it does have way longer range. The mtar is more accurate though.

It is a burst fire, so it deserves this 22ft win It kills in one burst out to over 100 ft. 3 bullets to kill at 22 just means you can hipfire it like a prepatch Type 95.
