I wish this wasn't in the game, it makes basically every other visual attachment pointless in comparison. i know you get more peripheral with reflex, but its not too big a deal. i don't see the point of acog when you can just see them light up and spam the area with the red square in at long range.
coldblooded doesn't even completely nullify it.
maybe if it had some weird colour like thermal, and coldblooded were invisible it would be nicely balanced, cos you would get fucked by coldblooded users, but as it is it just stands out amongst all the visual attachments

Really, you think the Target FInder's on the OP side of balance? I'll admit that I've not used it much, but I never thought it was that great. Reflex all the way for me, bro.

Yeah, the consensus is that it does appear to be a bit OP at the moment.
That said, advanced players with good visual acuity and map knowledge have little reason to choose it and risk being called "noobs" :-)
Also, as stated by other threads MMS is a good contender in the sight space against TF. ACOG is pretty decent in BO2, and RDS is a lot of fun with all the interesting reticule shapes (besides still offer the best view). Yesterday I picked up a weapon with skull reticule (how do you get it by the way) and it looks awesome.

You know what might be an interesting idea? Make the red boxes bigger, so they become obstructive
Hey theres a guy there! Try to hit him through these giant red boxes.

Yep. It should be a bad player's attachment of choice, with drawbacks. As is, if you can get past the frame, its the best attachment. But its still bullshit.

Man I have to try this Target Finder out if you guys think it's good. I'd hate to miss out on it if it were to get patched

TF is sniper-buster's best friend, even when they have Cold-Blooded (point to the possible sniper nest, and see if reticule is red)

Another thought: the potentially OP status of TF is counter balanced by the map design, which encourages SMG rushing & flanking. I have yet to see one player whose most favorite/dominant weapon is not SMG.
In a way: TF is best suited for "sniping" with AR and LMG, but for mid range. It is annoying when used against you, but in reality its usage is largely situational. With the exception of TDM, most game modes require you to get up close and personal to be an effective contributor to your team.

I don't have the game, since its not for the wii, but my cousin is almost prestige, and I go to his house fairly often. M8a1 is my current favourite, followed closely by the Chicom CQB. I like these two because I have a pretty good trigger finger, making them almost automatic. Anyway, I like the MMS better. It highlights enemies, sees through walls, and is less obtrusive.

I actually like the MMS more than the target finder. I feel like target finder is best when playing defensively. MMS is great for offensive play, and for the first time in CoD history, I actually like the reduced zoom level.

Today was the first time I've really used it at all. I wouldn't call it OP... yes it's probably the best optic but I don't see it as a problem. I really dislike the tunnel vision and would prefer the wide-open peripheral vision of the MMS or Reflex, or even the ACOG on assault rifles.
One thing it should NOT do is completely eliminate sway. That should be a trait exclusive to the ACOG, honestly. If the TF needs a nerf, it should be slower ADS-in time compared to the other optics, and it should have sway.

.....................................it eliminates sway?
so at this point, we're just charging full force into the land of Foxtrot logical ideas?
goddamnit, i loved black ops. what the hell happened

I feel a bit cheap using it. It's way better than marksman ever was at showing you hidden folks. I killed a few people, who I couldn't actually see, by aiming at the middle of the diamond.
One unexpected advantage I found was spotting one guy behind the other - it almost eliminated me dying from 'the guy behind the one who I stopped firing at because he was done.'
I just unlocked ghost last night so I'm trying it before rolling around. I need stock to keep ADS walk invisibility so I'm doing without.
I think a effective range nerf is inevitable with the TF.

Man, I've been using the Target Finder on the M8 for most of today and now I can see why you guy are discussing it. That thing picks people up through bushes, trees, thin metal, and all sorts

If I recall correctly, the Target Finder acts like an ACOG Scope (as opposed to a sniper rifle scope) in that it leaves your radar visible, right? That should be the first thing to change, in my opinion. Give it a higher ADS time, too, and I suppose we'd have a sight attachment more in line with the rest of them.
Oh, and the ACOG reticule in BO2? Gosh, I wish they had kept the 'old' (original MW2 design) one. That chevron just doesn't feel right (gave me nightmares in CoD4, too).

I wouldn't mind the Target Finder if Cold-Blooded actually countered it.

Game needs a single shot sniper rifle that does like 400 damage (for penetration).
And cool kids would love it so much that when they miss their rail gun, you'll have three seconds to kill them instead of just one with the (repeating) bolt action they're using now.

yes, target finder is massively over powered. the loss of radar is not enough to even remotely balance it. cold blooded does nothing to prevent it. fire when the cross turns red.
have a gun with lots of recoil? just pull the crosshairs towards the red box. want lots of multikill feeds? run a targetfinder and just pass from box to box to box.

Why do you guys think the Target Finder is op? The red diamond seem to obstruct more than a iron sight does, really. Red Diamond + Muzzle Flash + Tunnel Vision + No radar is enough to make it not OP, but good enough for people that are running the game at 400x300 pixels and can't spot a target.

Does the red box get smaller as the target goes further away? I'm curious about that.

I picked up a gun with TF on, playing on Yemen, and I have to say I was supprised how good it was. I think it would only be competitive on larger maps though. I have never felt the urge to create a class with one though. Maybe on an LMG!
