What do you think so far? I've heard people like the vector but I haven't had much success with it. What do you like most along with what attachments?

I think PDW is the most popular because of mag size.

PDW. Laser, Long Barrel. Third attachment could be a lot of things. With the death of emags, 50 rounds default is huge. The 3hk doesn't hurt either.

Liking the Chicom so far. Can't wait for select fire. This is one of the only SMGs that is countersniping for me; I can see myself actually using the select fire attachment to swap between modes.

I typed this out in a different thread. I've used all these setups (not just theory crafting), and variations of these setups by swapping attachments here and there, and these are the ones I've found to be most effective:
Best hip-fired, spray and pray - Skorpion with Rapid Fire, Laser Sight, and Extended Mag. This gun rapid-fire has the best DPS of all SMGs/ARs up close, with a fire rate of .033, meaning a potential TTK of .099 (though it requires more bullets to hit than some other guns, which is disadvantageous). This is about as close as you can get to the deadly hail of bullets something like the Akimbo G-18s, Akimbo FMG-9s, Rapid Fire PP90, etc could give you in the past as far as I've seen.
Best silenced all-around - Chicom CQC with Suppressor, Grip, and Select Fire. This is as close to the standard high RoF/low recoil guns of old that work so well with suppressors, like CoD4's P90, MW2's P90 and Vector, BO's Spectre, etc.
The MSMC with Suppressor, Grip, and possibly Quick Draw, works well too. This has one of the best recoils of all the SMGs with some of the best TTK if not using Rapid Fire, as well as the range to silence your weapon without it being a near-automatic pea shooter outside of shotgun range.
Most versatile - MSMC with Long Barrel, Quick Draw, and Grip/Extended Mag. This is just a dominating setup up to mid-range, with few SMGs that will match it up to mid-range, and no SMG that will match it at mid-range. Only at long-range will the Chicom CQB beat it. I'd recommend the Grip to solidify its mid-range game, but it is very easy to control at that range anyway and it won't be beating ARs at range regardless. Extended Mag makes it have a stronger spray game, and when against multiple foes, but ultimately the standard clip will let you kill two enemies consistently, three or so if you're at close range.

For the people who prefer the PDW57 and chicom, how much have used the later unlocked guns, like MSMC and Skorpion?

For the people who prefer the PDW57 and chicom, how much have used the later unlocked guns, like MSMC and Skorpion? The MSMC floors the PDW in most situations. The big advantages of the MSMC are that it has noticeably longer range before damage drop-off, it has a lot less recoil, and IMO it has far easier iron sights to use. The only major advantage the PDW has is its magazine size of 50 vs. 30, which is definitely useful but all-in-all not nearly enough to make up for its other disadvantages. The Skorpion isn't a particularly effective gun, except for spraying. It's got pretty heavy recoil and a noticeably lower 4SK range compared to other SMGs. Its only attractive feature is the 1800 RPM you can achieve with Rapid Fire, slinging bullets left and right, though good luck putting it to consistent use outside of close range.

Have we got any range stats yet for the SMGs?

I've prestiged already and I prefer the PDW over the MSMC. The recoil is trivial, and the range difference isn't enough to warrant 20 fewer bullets/mag. I also like the PDW sights. Scorpion kicks too much. It's a spray cannon and that's pretty much it. I haven't done much with the Chicom yet.

Vector is a more accurate mp7 with a smaller clip ok, sounds good. thanks

Out of the 'early' SMG's, I've got to go with the PDW, with the MSMC being the highlight of the later options IMHO.

The Vector is best pony. Cool factor gives it bonus points.

reading this thread, no one clear favorite gun has emerged as the 'best'. Iv'e read Vector, PDW, MSMC and Chicom.
Does that mean the elusive 'balance' is here?

No, we just dont have a nice spreadsheet yet? I have read and seen three spreadsheets on here, already floating around. That hasn't helped matters. The spreadsheets all seem to contradict what the in-game stats say (ok, so what's new there) and the one chart, i can't make heads or tails of it's 3 shot, 4 shot kill range, in terms of range.

The balance out of the gate is very good given BO1 and MW3 (even shotguns are well balanced...versus each other), but I'm sure we'll find ways to exploit the game shortly.

That pretty colorful one is accurate as hell, and lists the exact max range for a 1 shot, 2 shot, etc I think i am looking at it now. What's the range in? Units? Is it still the about the same conversion, which is 1u = 41 meters?

I have a feeling if I use select fire on the chicom it will actually slow down my rpm. atm I'm using it like a highly highly upgraded raffica. It fires way way too fast to be that accurate.
It also looks like a single FMG which makes me feel like a badass.

the units are in feet (I'm guessing they used one of the indicators like the stinger or whatever) so it's really 1 feet = 12u = ~0.3m Ok..well, help me out there. Here are two charts from the board. denkirson.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=5265media.pcgamer.com/files/2012/11/Call-of-Duty-Black-Ops-2-weapon-chart.pngThe first seems to indicate that the FAL can kill with two bullets, up to around 31 meters. After that, it needs three bullets. The second chart, colorful chart, says the '2-shot kill range' is '55'. It cant' be units.or feet, ....if the 2-shot range is 55 units, = 4.58', = 1.37m? No way. If it's 55 meters, that makes sense, but then the two charts don't mesh.

The Chicom here is shown with the same integrated flashlight and sights that the FMG9 had in MW3…but is otherwise completely unrelated. The QCW-05 is effectively an SMG configuration of the Type 95.

I tried the Chicom yesterday.
I really hate how much the gun wobbles when your turn while aiming down (think MW2 LMG's with ACOG).

Well, I think the worst gun in the game is the Ballista. Dayum does that thing ever suck Not if you know how to aim. And the only damage drop off it gets with a silencer, is lower arms. That means upper arms and OSOK to the chest and up is a OSOK, according to the chart. Worst sniper goes to SVU-AS by a long shot.

Not even long barrel and lazor. It still gets 1HKs at close range and has some low potential at the end of its range. Ballista is a weak bolt action sniper. Its atrocious.
