That's right, I'm talking to myself; and I don't even care. It's more interesting than some of the drivel lately. I just wonder what Borderlands 3 will bring to the table. What? We all know it's coming.

Non-doo-dooty loot dropping, actually having inventory/bank space, gore, mashers, modding, etc.
Don't get me wrong, Borderlands 2 made a lot of improvements and I enjoyed it a lot, but the replay value is trashed and they actually made things I enjoyed about BL1 worse. I don't play Borderlands for a first-person shooter MMORPG.
Oh, and balance patches. I'm not sure if they did it in BL1 aside from the New Haven chest runs, but IMO the Bee nerf was totally unwarranted.

I'll still like Borderlands 1 better. How? I literally can't think of one thing that Borderlands 1 did better than 2. -The loot system was better in BL1. I don't have to grind one boss over and over to get ONE legendary weapon. Why bother with a randomly generated loot system when the best guns can only be dropped by a specific person. I would rather have every weapon I pick up be a legendary than have THAT boring system. In fact, I've been through the former and it truly was the funnest time I had in BL2. THEN there's the golden key system. I can go to Google, find a guy who promises unlimited gold keys, download a file, use it to replace another file in my save data, and come out with 200+ free golden keys. Anyone can do this for all the purple/e-tech weapons they want. Instead of Gearbox having a way to promote their interests through virtual loot, they just opened up an easier way to hack the game. Before anyone even stats with the General Knoxx Armory glitch; it wasn't that bad compared to the Golden Key exploit. By the time you can do this you've beaten the main storyline, the DLC storyline, and you're just speeding up the process in getting better loot for your level 61/69 character. If you do it any earlier the weapons you farm won't be max level weapons. With the Golden Key exploit, you can get all the E-tech/purple weapons at almost ANY level you want, and for a game where you're supposed to make do with whatever weapons are thrown at you, that's takes away from the game. Before anyone calls me a hypocrite for writing I had fun in that hacked lobby where every item drop was a legendary drop earlier on, I'm not saying that's what Borderlands' ideal loot system should be; rather the ability to suddenly mow down enemies faster was fun -The inventory/bank system was a lot easier to navigate. BL1- select weapon, Enter, and the gun is in your bank BL2- select weapon, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down, Enter, and the gun is in your bank -General weapon balance was a lot better in BL1. Shotguns were a lot better in BL1. Even some of the legendary shotguns in BL2 were terrible (I.e. EVERY ONE OF THEM except for the Conference Call). SMGs are heavily nerfed in terms of relative DPS, and are only really useful as legendary or elemental weapons. I've found myself using Vladof pistols over SMGs a lot of the time. With the exception of Launchers in BL1 every weapon type was perfectly viable up until level 69. The sniper rifle eventually evolved into a battle rifle, slow-firing weapons didn't stand a chance in the later levels, but aside from there were no glaring issues with the weapon balance in BL1. -The lack of legendary class mods allowed players to RP in the later levels a little more in BL1. Granted the class mods in BL1 were terribly balanced, they were at least a lot more powerful and the RP aspect was still a lot stronger. That being said the Soldier handed out all the ammo and health. -BL1 shields stuck to their role as defensive tools. I honestly hate the dynamic of the Bee shield. It doesn't need a nerf, it just needs to go. The concept of a shield that offers such a direct bonus to offensive prowess in any combat scenario is just asking to be exploited. -No BS enemies. I found it impossible to get past the 4th wave of the Ore Chasm arena solo because of all the RPG loaders that spawn. They fire missiles in the air and they come back down to peg you down regardless if you're moving, in cover, or in freaking Iraq huddled in the late Saddam Hussein's private bunker. It sucks. Badass constructor bots are no exception. I don't mind the homing missiles, I don't mind the infinite waves of loaders, I DO mind the 15-foot-wide nuclear holocaust that'll happen if I don't run out into heavy fire again. Rabid skags and stalkers. They run at me, they push me back with every hit, and there's nothing I can do about it. I can't dodge them like I can in BL1; I cant even outrun them. I prefer Alpha skags from BL1 because they had a counter. -Blackhole threshers. WHY? If these things activate their gravitational aura, and I'm nearby, I go down. Period. It would've made more sense if I could walk backwards to balance out the effects of the aura, or at least for the most-part. It would have made sense if the aura dealt no damage; and that the blackhole thresher had a utility role. -Badass fire threshers. Oh look, a badass flesh unit! Time to pull out my fire weap- ...crap. -BL2 had poorer level functionality. I hate it when I'm running in the middle of a field an SUDDENLY buzzards spawn out of nowhere. -Clown car vehicle spawn. I don't care if I have to fight 60 buzzards all at once; just don't spawn three of them at a time and have another spawn whenever I manage to kill one. That's boring. Being on foot in the Dust can be pretty annoying when a bandit vehicle pulls up to you every 30 seconds; that's annoying. -Some enemies clip through walls, and besides this one harmless guy in Old Haven it's never happened in BL1 where it can happen with an entire wave of enemies. I've found myself unable to kill off some surveyor bots because they've clipped through the walls. When I honk my horn at the Bloodshot gate enemies will always clip through the gate. -Raid bosses. You had to kite Crawmerax, hit him where it hurt, and have one of each element to fend off his minions. Crawmerax couldn't kill you in your own spawn unlike Master Gee. Crawmerax had a 100% chance of spawning, and didn't have an increased chance of spawning as more players joined unlike Vermivorous. Hiding behind a rock all the time wasn't the optimal way to kill Crawmerax unlike Terramorphus. I am aware of the glitch where players used to be able to go into a corner and pick off Crawmerax while his AI was unable to detect them. That wasn't an intended design choice, and until I see the rock exploit changed my argument stands.

Wow. Ultimate Vault Hunter mode is nearly impossible to beat on solo. Apparently all the enemies have 4 times their normal health, gain slow health regeneration, and you can forget about non-elemental weapons or explosive weapons. -In Highlands outwash, trying to find a beacon to get back to sanctuary -Slowly but surely kill off the stalkers despite having nothing but E-tech/Legendary guns -A few deaths later I eventually carve a path to the bridge -Kill the EXP Loader that is preset to explode by the bridge controls which would have otherwise permanently raised the bridge. -Spawn the Constructor bot that was supposed to spawn by the gate on the other side of the bridge -Realize there's no cover on the bridge -Try to pick off the constructor bot with my two acid weapons from a distance and head-glitch the bridge controls -Get killed by an engineer that randomly spawns behind me -Kill the engi, go back to head-glitch spot -Doesn't matter, the unslaggable loaders' rockets somehow push me out of cover and into death -Eventually run out of SMG, Sniper and AR ammo, no ammo vendors nearby -Remember a chest nearby located near Slappy's spawn area -Nope, nothing but grenade mods. -Screw this, I'm going around the constructor bot -Go into the Highlands: Overlook and come back into the area where I'm supposed to pick up the beacon through the exit -Boss Thresher manages to spawn a tentacle and flank me -Die again -Spawn back at the very beginning of the level by the Stalkers. According to the BL2 wiki this is what's changed in UVHM:
Enemy health generally increased 4x. Enemies now have a moderate amount of health regeneration. Increased duration of slag damage multiplier effect. Upped the damage that slagged enemies take from 2x to 3x. Slag on slag damage increased 50%. Weapon swap speed increased to better facilitate slag use. Enemies now more likely to drop ammo. Loot Midgets are now "Legendary Loot Midgets" that can drop Legendary and other top-tier gear. Level 50 legendaries often can deal with enemies efficiently up level 55. Pearlescents are now available. Hyperius, Master Gee, Pete the Invincible now only drop Seraph Crystals in UVHM. Increased the likelihood of certain Seraph weapons to drop from raid bosses as they are no longer sold in vendors.

Yesterday I went back to BL1, deleted all my saves, and started all over again. In hindsight, despite the derpy AI I find this game to be a lot more relaxing. By level 26 I've managed to come across 3 legendary weapons (a Rebel, Equalizer, and Thanatos), have 250% magazine size on all my guns, have a purple torgue SMG with 90.2 accuracy, 145 magazine, and 17.6 fire rate (no modifiers), and my hyperion battle rifle is more accurate than my hyperion sniper rifle (95.4>96.6+ 10x the idle sway). I have a shotgun with 30 rounds in it and never emptied it mid-combat. It's awesome. This was what I meant with Borderlands 2 having a 'more restrictive algorithm' when it comes to generating guns. A lot of the guns in BL1 looked alike and didn't have many variations in function or combat role, but finding a powerful weapon wasn't hard. In Borderlands 1 an SMGs had fire rates between 2.8 and 18.0, now it's anywhere between 5.1 and 9.7 (the Sandhawk has 2.6, but it fires a bajillion projectiles every shot).
I've also noticed that enemies sometimes drop items when they die in BL1. I'm not sure why that mechanic went away in BL2, but it sure didn't hurt the game.
I also disagree with 2k's ideaology on making the game harder by doubling/quadrupling the enemies' health in BL2. I stopped playing at level 53 because the game felt WAY too grindy. In my mind just doubling/quadrupling the number of enemies that spawned would have done the trick. Every fight feels like a sort of boss battle, and the pacing has slowed down excessively.

yeah, on a "first playthrough" basis, I'd give the edge to BL2. Anything more than that, and BL2 becomes an exercise in boredom, grinding, and frustration.

I just re-read this thread. Mousey, how do you put up with my crap? Anyways, more BL2 stuff. -Torgue's new brand-name of manufacturing nothing but explosive weaponry was a stroke of brilliance. In Borderlands 1 they were "the guys that make ridiculously independant strong black women who don't need no man weapons with high spread." Torgue pistols seem a bit lacking in overall firepower; it would have been interesting to see them as single-shot grenade launchers that chewed through something like 20 ammo for 10 times their normal damage. I just think Torgue should be handling the grenade launchers next game instead of Dahl; in fact I'm surprised Torgue didn't make a grenade launcher as their legendary shotgun. Instead "The Flakker" came about, and it sucked. Maybe there should be a separate company that 'rivals Torgue' by making powerful weapons that are explosive and consume lots of ammo. I'd go for that. -If laser weapons were introduced into Borderlands 3 they'll probably be manufactured by "Volta", named after NVidia's latest GPU architecture. That is, assuming they manage to work out the copyright issues and that the Volta architecture is a practical way of making GPUs more powerful. -It would be interesting if more minor attributes were affected by a weapon's rarity, for instance rarer Bandit weapons had quicker reload times, Dahl the number of shots fired in each burst, Hyperion bullet velocity, Jakobs critical hit damage, Maliwan elemental damage or effect chance, Tediore magazine size, Torgue blast radii, and Vladof fire rate/accuracy recovery. -All class mods and no shotgun buffs makes Beaver a dull boy. -I do not envy the guy who has to balance out the launchers in BL1/BL2. I think the major issue with Launchers in BL1 was that the lack of sustainability. In BL2 this issue grew because they were a waste of a weapon slot most of the time, and with a Torgue weapon/absorb shield that quickly changed into the complete opposite of things. Besides that I think they did alright in changing up its role; but in future iterations launchers shouldn't be power weapons.
-Bringing back shields that passively heal players would be a nice idea. Absorb, Booster, Adaptive, Turtle shields are all very perfectly viable options which I don't have a problem with. If I were to change anything about the shield selection in this game: -Roid shields should always give out a melee damage boost, or at least as long as the shield isn't fully charged. -Spike shields should offer resistance to melee attacks instead of damaging melee attackers -Nova shields should probably only go off when a player gets a kill when his/her shields down. To compensate this novas could have a wider radius. -Instead of amplify shields I would recommend a shield that significantly reduces flinch when hit. That way it keeps to Hyperion's motto of being accurate. -It would be interesting to see a shield with a slow recharge rate, and a recharge delay of 0. -Again, blue/purple rarity shields with the special effects of two or more manufacturers would be pretty interesting.

The grinding is terrible starting as early as level 20. It's stupid that the XP needed to level up increases while XP gained from enemies decreases as you level. It should just be one or the other. This is a pet peeve I have with a lot of RPGs.

I think what happened is that the enemies' XP values scale linearly as the levels went up, but the quest rewards scaled exponentially. As a result I've noticed is that a lot of players will just run by the enemies instead of killing them because they give out so little XP.
I liked the idea that all the equipment scaled exponentially over the levels, but 13% is pretty excessive. A level 8 weapon will be half as powerful as a level 13.67 weapon, which is pretty ridiculous. I probably would have scaled that down to 7.2% instead so that a level 18 weapon would be twice as powerful as a level 8 weapon.

Late to the party, but I'm tearing into the game. I've got a 38 Siren I'm playing to res people while I mooch off of thier high level mad slaying skills. She actually isn't even halfway through normal mode...lol. I also have a 36 commando that I'm playing TVHM with. I've got two pearlescent (sp?) weapons (a 61 and some crazy luck (personally pulled a legendary commando mod on my commando...lol). Just Msg me if you want a game/need a revive buddy.

I just got this game two days ago for free from my friend because of some mix-up or something before we started playing a Star Wars RP thing that combines the space fighting portion with the more D&D like portion. Holy **** my sibling's long time friends are good at RolePlay, great DM, story etc.. *Shrug* well, I plugged my Xbox back in and reminiscing with my old friends in party chat, this next while may be the last time I see them.

Having a blast with Breakneck Banshee Siren. 210% movement speed? Speedrunning and parkour has never been so much fun (in Borderlands).
Love thumper + self damaging gun to keep the shields down.

That doesn't look very fair The norfleet was never fair to begin with... but there is a better rocket launcher out there....in the hands of the gunzerker. i hate copy/pasting build sets, but this is as close to Explosive perfection as it comes.

I'm not sure if game is broken, hacked, or the player is very, very dedicated to loot farming.

Oh, no... not hacked. This is something I've been having a ton of fun with. The only problem is the rocket launcher requirement. It isn't a legendary. This makes it hard to obtain because there is no specific enemy that it spawns from. It is a vladof Etech Rocket Launcher w/ the effect "consumes less ammo per shot." Normally the gunzerker couldn't regen rocket ammo and the rocket's mag would run out. So here is what happens...
The rocket consumes no ammo every third shot. After the gunzerker gets a kill, his killskill "5 shots or 6" triggers that has a chance of adding ammo to the mag instead of subtracting ammo. Added to that, I use a class mod to increase the level (and functional percentage) of that skill. Salvador has yet another skill that gives him a chance to not consume ammo every shot. At the same time, the gunzerker's multiple kill skills that increase rate of fire are functioning as well. What you end up with is a rocket launcher that keeps firing faster (the game will actually slow down) and doesn't lose ammo. But how do you have any sustained fire? The uunzerker has an ability that keeps you gunzerking as long as you are getting kills. In addition you can run a shield (The Sham) that will absorb 94% of all gunfire) including your own and including rocket ammo)
Now, this isn't good for bosses because it requires sustained kills in order to sustain total ammo, RoF, mag size, and DPS. I keep my gunzerker just for mob murder en masse.

Farming is hardly exploitative if the developers explicitly tell the playerbase to do it and provide loot drop information to facilitate it (both of which they do). The official forums have a trading area as well; finding rare gear isn't as impossible as you think.

You would assume correctly. Played some 4 player UVHM on a friend's freshly reset story. At our level 63 the enemies started kicking our collective asses.
Also it should be noted some enemies appear to have a sham-esque shield/flame of the firehawk equipped as we have been seeing nova blasts from common enemies and certain bosses seem to absorb norfleet damage as health gain.
The only counter I found to these powerful enemies was my boss-varient siren with a hoplite (with the banshee mod cutting my delay/r increasing echarge rate by about half each). It takes enemies a solid 6-7 seconds of focus fire before I go down under normal circumstances. If the enemies are densely packed I can use my gunzerker... but the topnnea's weakness is really starting to show.
Slick was using Norfleet Siren and was having some success with it, but even the 61 norfleet is starting to show weakness.

Oh. My. God. "That is beautiful." And yes, the effectiveness of the Norfleet was declining fast when enemies were hitting 65, so that grind to 72 is gonna be a bit painful, but worth it. I was also on a stupid host lagging my ass off like no tomorrow though, it was painful. It felt like epic input lag on the order of anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds. .___.

I'm at overlevel 2 so far (functionally 74). I was able to solo both runs of the Peak so far, but the last fight had the Assassins come out 2 at a time instead of 1. If that trend continues my strategy (singularity grenades+Deathtrap tank+Close Enough cheesing) is probably going to stop being viable soon. halp pls Also I googled the new legendary class mods. All three for the Mechro are absolute sh it Slayer of Terra forever I guess
