No, they don't. That classification is done by the menu- the weapon files are there just to tell the game how the gun should perform.
The defining features of a class are accomplished simply by setting value X of each weapon in that class to the same thing.

Thanks for showing that ProBaddie, but does it show this in the zombie files as well? (I'm only taking a guess to that being the CoD4 weapon files)

Hmm, do you think you could check to see if the class is mentioned in there? (If you have access to the ones in BO2, that would be better. If you're wondering what this is about, we're trying to figure out what to label the MG08 in Origins as on the Wiki)

No Dumien, but I do trust you guys more when it comes to the weapon stuff more than any other source.

The class in the weapon files can be different from the class in the game. For example, the AKS-74U in CoD4 is a "rifle", the M1919 Browning in WaW is an "smg" and the 93R in MW2 is a "pistol".

Hey Marvel. I saw kick ass 1 and it was pretty good. I watched Kick-Ass at the end of the school year like 2 years ago so I can't remember bits and pieces from it. I plan on watching Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2 back to back once Kick-Ass 2 is available for download purchase.

Never got around to watch that, actually. Judging from I've seen, I'm guessing it sort of parodies costumed vigilantes and has darker undertones like the Watchmen? :3

With the amount of bloodshed you'd think it'd be dark, but it's basically juvenile glorified violence for the whole time, no themes are explored to seriously, the story is a little shallow, but it executes very well with characters, a clear story arc and thed the right pacing.

The weapon files don't mention weapon class, but I got a question: should the Starstreak (in MW3 Special Ops DLC) be considered as a Launcher or as a Special? And should the APS Underwater Rifle (in Ghosts campaign) be considered as an Assault Rifle or a Special?
(Special weapons include the Death Machine, Minigun, MAAWS, War Machine, Titus-6, etc.)
