Hailing from last year, it's time for our sequel thread! As before, let's bring light to that one, amazing game that holds a place in your heart like no other. Those honorable mentions are a boon, as well.
To kick it off, here's mine:
Yeah, I think this speaks for itself when it boils down to the fact the Wii U so far has the most alluring exclusives that aren't multi-platform. Even coming from the 3DS version, the amount of content just boggles the mind. One such thing is 8-Player Smash which is a gamble of a feature in itself, yet it shows to have it's place in that it's stupidly good pandemonium -- especially with friends. Let's bring up the soundtrack, too; there's a ridiculous amount of exposure just by the OST that even obscure franchises are given a worthy remix. Case in point, this and this!
Now with that out of the way, become enslaved by my new avatar~. :3

Mine is probably Insurgency, but I started playing it in Early Access in late 2013, so I don't know if it really counts. otherwise I can't think of anything that I've played that was released in 2014
I like Insurgency a lot though, but I only really play the co-op modes. the update with the night maps + nightvision made things really cool though, and I like the idea of the Survival mode where you play as insurgents defending against the security
I've been waiting to buy SSB for 3DS, I guess I hope it will drop $5-10, but it probably won't and I should get it. I liked the demo a lot

Easily one of the best games of 2014, hell one of the top single player FPS games of the last 10 years. Machine games and Bethesda really took it away for me. Great characters, something you do not expect from a Wolfenstein game, great story, amazing settings, and top notch gameplay. Akimbro marksman rifles that can turn into laser rifles? Akimbro fully automatic shotguns? Environments that allow stealth and or MORE DAKKA? Destructible covers that can lead to stealthy 'shoot through a hole in the wall' or 'melt enemies behind cover'? MECHA NAZIS ON THE MOON? A blend of everything good from old shooters and everything good from new shooters? Nazi versions of songs like The Beatles? Thank you sir, may I have another. The main downfall is it doesn't have a whole lot of replay value, there is a branch in the story early on that determines whether you hotwire your way through the game and get health bonuses or whether you go through the game with lockpicking and get armor bonus. Plus if you're a completionist there's a lot of secrets and collectables to get. Overall it's a fantastic game, I highly recommend you pick it up if you haven't already

I enjoyed this year for video games... Smash 3DS, regardless of its inferiority to the Wii U version, fufilled my desire to have a non-home-rigged portable Smash game... a game that shoulda coulda woulda been great on nintendo handhelds ages ago. Sure it gets your hands cramped, but my friends and I can grab a cup of coffee/go to Mcdonalds and play some smash. It's wonderful! Destiny is a horrible game in so many ways. However, it is totally a step in the right-ish direction for the concept of the Console MMO. It might not be an MMO in the traditional sense. It has very limiting social aspects...sometimes it encourages solo play... but nothing has made me want to network large groups of friends more than this game has. The raiding experience as a whole is VERY VERY fun. It makes me wonder why PC focused developers haven't come up with a worthwhile FPS raid experience yet. Vault of Glass was fantastic. Crota's End (before people figured a few exploits out) was a fantastic experience. Nothing beats getting online with 5 other friends and tackling a challenge while figuring it out. I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to play with a bunch of Den bros for this. Bungie has alot of things to figure out. You can feel the tendrils of Activision fondling, violating the underlying fantastic game. You can go online and experience the amazing lore and storytelling THAT EXISTS OUTSIDE THE GAME. The Destiny we got is fuuun to play. Too bad it is merely the cannibalized, repurposed corpse of one of the best games ever envisioned. I was dead on about Walking Dead TVG Season 2. Fanastic. Get it. Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis system is the coolest thing to happen to video games in a while. More games should have this. Can you imagine this system being used in other beloved games? I honestly can't forsee an instance where the addition of this system would be a negative thing. Titanfall is my game of the year. Nothing. No game has won me over so fast. The movement system is...just...so perfect. It fufills my childhood fanasty of #1 being a ninja and #2 punching giant robots with my giant robot. There are so many cool, amazing things that can happen with this game. The CTF in this game is the best version of CTF I have ever seen. The pseudo SnD is also fantastic (Last Titan Standing). The smart pistol is one of the most fun weapons I've used in any video game. It rewards the parkour that makes the game stand out from its competitors... Advanaced Warfare tried and failed to employ a fast paced movement system. Titanfall's system becomes seamless with a complete lack of clunk. You always feel very much in control of your character. A lesser game would make you feel powerless outside of your giant mech suit. If that were the case you wouldn't see a legitimate strategy be setting your titan to autopilot while you assassinate enemy titans via rodeo. The lack of weapon choice is fine. They chose not to be risky in this area I fully expect them to build off of this in future installments. The only downsides of game are the lack of players and the occasional matchmaking failures. I bought my XB1 with CoD Ghosts and Titanfall. I've only played Ghosts on XB1 for an hour and a half. I...I made a montage for Titanfall with the Attack on Titan Fight Theme (song begins at 3:40

Mario Kart 8 has a place, too, but it does fall flat from a competitive standpoint; I've grown disillusioned with what's God-awful item distribution (Triple Reds in second, anything less near last) in addition to wonky balancing (nigh-useless Star/Blooper, throwaway Boomerang/Fire Flower). Weight class discrepancies I can aside, but even the N64 never had it this bad.
On the plus side, I've been wanting a 3DS for myself -- even just for Fire Emblem: Awakening at that. It'd especially be a boon for traveling without the need to lug around a home console. How much do they usually go for? Wonder if there's new models swinging by~. Could one link accounts from the Wii U? So many variables~.You can feel the tendrils of Activision fondling, violating the underlying Lel. Going right for it's purity, eh? :3

Oh yeah....Hearthstone. I forgot it was released this year. It feels far more storied than a game that has only been around one year (probably because of that beta). Hearthstone is a great game from an e-sports standpoint. I look forward to playing it and watching other people who are far better than me play it.
Recently my friend said target had a clearance on 3DSXL Smash bundles... I can't find that deal anymore tho. Awakening, the new pokemon games, and smash are some pretty good reasons to buy a 3ds.

Titanfall is my GOTY
Wolfenstein is pretty fun, I still need to finish it.
MK8 is a bit of a disappointment, but I do need to play it more. Aside from lack of hackers, I liked just about everything better in MKWii.
Never gave much time to any sort of smash brothers game. I probably haven't been good at a fighting game since the original Mortal Kombat.
My brother just gave me his Saitek X52. Maybe I'll give Elite: Dangerous a go.
CODAW isn't the worst game ever, but hasn't compelled me to go back. Who knows if I will even bother before the first DLC pack comes out. If that shit wasn't discounted with that PSN sale in October I probably would have pulled a Ghosts and been done with the game by now.
I really liked Volgarr the Viking on Xbox One, but that was a 2013 release for most systems.
Second place goes to Velocity 2x I think. Still need to finish that one as well. Titanfall really ate up a lot of time in 2014.

As a player who pretty much only play shooters: my vote goes to Titanfall without any doubt. I also vote Respawn as the best developer for post launch support.

I didn't play nearly as many games as I have in years past; in fact, outside of the very beginning of the year and very end of the year I pretty much didn't play hardly any video game at all. Given that I didn't play many games, let alone much gaming in general, I can only pick from a few options this year and whatever my selection is it isn't going to provide any type of fair evaluation of the quality games that probably existed this year in gaming since my hands on experience is so limited.
The 2014 games I've played: Halo: Spartan Assault World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition Titanfall Trials Frontier Destiny Chariot Project Spark Dance Central Spotlight Assassin's Creed Unity Halo: The Master Chief Collection Halo 5: Guardians Beta (doesn't qualify)
Out of this list I probably would have to say that Titanfall was the most enjoyable new experience and therefore I'd consider it my personal game of the year. I got it quite late and the online population isn't the strongest by any means, but at least I probably avoided any initial release issues and was able to pick-up a version that included all the DLC. I would probably have to consider Destiny as the runner-up, but like Titanfall I began playing it quite some time after it's initial release and purchased a versions with all the DLC (up-to-now) so I've probably avoided some of the initial issues and limitations that might have caused my opinions to lower a bit with regards to it. If there weren't horrific problems related to the Master Chief Collection that stretched out for months after it's release (and in some regards still now) I might have considered it because of how much game you get in that single package, but I also find it hard to cast a vote for a game that's simply a collection of old games made anew thanks to a re-skinning. The Halo 5: Guardians Beta has been a blast to play, but it's a Beta and it's offering was extremely limited in the few days I played it before the end-of-the-year; plus, it was plagued by it's own initial problems too, so in total I can't possible consider it.

Overall it's a fantastic game, I highly recommend you pick it up if you haven't already That's the reason why I didn't get it.... I needz me my replay value. But I was super tempted... PSN had it on sale for like 60% off too. I am half ass kicking my ass for not getting it then

Before long you'll be able to pick it up at > 60% off. Just wait, it will happen soon enough.

The only game I can think of where I got 100%(or more) of anything was Crash Bandicoot and those were relatively easy to get all bonus stuff.
