To put it bluntly, I don't get to enjoy joke builds. I can't just whimsically pick up the riot shield. I'm not allowed to. Not without paying "fun debt." This argument completely assumes you are a player that is better than the rest already. How do you think the average player would play with a fun build? They would get slaughtered even more. Most of these arguments only work for good players, which is the problem with the whole discussion imho. Every single argument needs to be assessed from both a good and a bad players perspective. Letting the top 10% use a fun loadout and still stomp is not a good argument for removing SBMM imho. An average player would perform with most builds at their normal level, because despite what most average players may think, their weapon choice doesn't really matter. The fact one gun kills 50 or even 100ms faster than another really doesn't matter much when you can save several times that difference by reacting faster, aiming more precisely, and moving around the map more effectively. Average players, being average, have tons of room to improve in these areas, and the small micro-optimizations like gun TTKs that matter at high levels of play have a much smaller effect at lower levels. If you could graph "skill," it would be an S-curve. Using a better loadout is basically a very small vertical boost on that graph. That small boost is mostly meaningless in the middle of the curve. It is only at the plateau that a loadout will have a significant effect on players. And the inverse is true as well. Using a bad loadout affects performance significantly more at the plateau than it does in the middle of the s-curve. And yes, at this point I'm just enjoying this discussion of game design theory more than anything. I find it interesting. It's obvious at this point that MW19 won't be seeing any meaningful change in any aspect, let alone SBMM. I just find MW to be such an interesting example of how to develop a game poorly. They have basically contradicted themselves on every single stated it implied design goal while alienating several different sections of their player base. I really hope CoD2020 isn't harmed by it. (The sales of a successor are always affected by the quality of the immediately preceding title.) Then again I also hope Halo infinite is good enough that it won't matter to me anyway.

Have you guys taken a look at the codgundata site? It seems to be gaining traction. The owner of the site has reportedly tested all weapons at 240hz to plot out all attachment effects on all individual weapons. Cannot confirm how reliable his data is though

The owner of the site has reportedly tested all weapons at 240hz to plot out all attachment effects on all individual weapons. Cannot confirm how reliable his data is though I've been using this sheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11yTy4RcH6-8dSzgfODmMz-Yy8dgc1arfxm0ynfQbMY8/htmlview#, which is just a compilation of XclusiveAce's testing. But hot damn, that codgundata site looks great. He has all kinds of new information we did not previously know about, this is gold. Exact percentages on how barrels affect bullet velocity, or recoil? Hip fire area percentages too? This is fantastic, thanks so much for sharing! It's interesting to note how he compounds modifiers, i.e. monolithic suppressor (10% range boost) + long barrel (40% range boost) = 54% total boost, rather than 50%. Also he seems to have even more specific stats, probably due to using a higher framerate like you said (RAM-7 long barrels are 27% and 37% on his chart, versus the 25% and 40% we had previously been told) I do REALLY like how it is very mobile-friendly too, I'm definitely going to be bookmarking this on my phone and referencing it during play sessions

You guys mean truegamedata.com? Yes I love that site. I don't know how they do it, is it all hand testing or did they figure out the magic sauce Marvel was doing for the data dumps?

The guy that works the site has a Discord and YouTube channel. He hand tests everything with the game on PC running at 240 FPS.

Yeah, while I don't always completely agree with his methods or results, just the amount of work he puts in is incredible. Even if it is not 100%, it's still by far the most valuable source we have. Never really used my free prime sub, but if you have one, try throwing it his way
