Thing is, the first time you unlock something permanently you'll have to level it once again, since everything will reset after prestiging

It does, IF the one who dropped the package had the corresponding weapon equipped AND had ammo for it left when he died. Edit: Same goes for tube & co.

Elaborate on the HAMR's awesomeness, s'il vous plaît.
Aren't SMGs supposed to be ass in long range engagements, due to sway and damage falloff? What use would an ACOG be then?

I'm level 55 and for the whining about assassin being overpowered I'm founding myself having no choice but to use it because uav is up all game. The same has been said for MW2 and BlOps at launch, it's just that players start out with it and have to unlock the other killstreaks first. After a while most people settled for Harrier->Chopper->Nuke, Pred->Harrier->Chopper or sth similiar in MW2 (not me though: uav->cuav->harrier).

So MOAB will be on all the strike packages? Is it safe to assume that you still have to get a single 25 streak even if you're using Support? Yes. 25 kills with your gun only, without dying once. Makes using specialist all the more attractive.

That said, the PC version has been pirated so we might be able to get weapon stats early. Unlikely, since the PC files are encrypted and unlocked by Steam at release.

Secondaries don't have proficiencies.
Narrows the choice of attachment down to silencer or ext. mags., since two attachments is now impossible.

You could always trade the (unrealistic) ability to sprint indefinitely for the (realistic) ability to carry an infinte amount of weapons and equipment. Or being able to convert the 9mm ammo of fallen enemies into 40mm nades. Or the knowlegede on how to attach two things onto your gun without breaking it in fucking half.

Yeah, except no.
themodernwarfare3.com was among the first sites claiming to know everything, like overkill pro allowing your secondary gun to use two attachments. They just make stuff up as they go.

Not to mention the ridiculous grunting every time your soldier climbs a small ledge. Don't forget what you're hurdling around: - M249 - 10 kg
- +extra belt - 2,5 kg
- Stinger - 15,2 kg
- Body armor - 12 kg
- 2 nades - 0,8 kg
- Assorted stuff - 5 kg
Equals 45,5 kg or ~1000 lb,included pounds out of pity, who in their right mind wouldn't want to use the metric system?
I'd like to see you climbing walls with that doo-doo and not break a sweat.

Well, well. Lookie here: @reiske: @fourzerotwo So if you unlock a piece of gear, that gear will only last you that prestige round? Custom create-a-class is still permanent?@fourzerotwo: @reiske Both are permanent. So you unlock that gear for all future prestiges, same with extra custom class slots.

...Assuming I've prestige'd in 3 previous CoD games, that means I'll be awarded a total of 4 tokens once I obtain my 1st prestige in MW3.
Thus once I reach my 1st prestige in MW3, it will should be the equivalent of a 4th level of prestige (due to my 3 additional tokens) is that correct? According to wikipedia it's "[...] any Call of Duty title [...]". I guess only games registered by CoD Elite will count, how else will mw3 know? But yes, that's the idea.

402 just tweeted about the prestige shop: - ANY piece of equip, weapon or perk can be unlocked permanently by using a prestige token
- Prestiging any number of times in a previous CoD grants one prestige token (per game)
Now, considering that the shop is offering essential stuff like extra custom classes as well as the non-permanent "double xp for 2h" and tokens not being that rare, i think we can assume one thing: There will be unlimited levels of prestige. Or about 255. But at least a Foxtrotting lot. Update 24 Oct 2011:Game recognition will reach back to CoD4 (that is, on consoles. Obviously) [1] and you don't have to prestige before MW3 is released. [2] To make CoD Elite register a game you prestiged in, you have to play one round with said game after Elite has gone online. [3] And again: One token per game. [4]Perks, guns and equip unlocked by a token will still be reset upon prestiging (camo, challenges etc.). [5][6] Wouldn't want to miss out on all those xp anyway. Update 28 Oct 2011:Apparently the number of prestige levels is limited. [1]

Addendum: Perks can be excluded from being unlocked at 8 kills, if for example you'd prefer to not have your vision impaired by blast shield.

I'm not completely familiar with the Tactical button layout, but isn't breath-holding tied to the sprint button? I'm pretty sure Tactical puts crouching on the right analog button, and knifing on the B button. I could be wrong though. To be fair though, holding the right analog to steady your aim while aiming with the right analog would also be pretty awkward. I guess they could assign RB to holding breath when coupled with ARs. You won't need the right index when ADS and you sure as hell won't be planting equips when you're lining up a shot.

IMO, all they need to do with the knife is to remove lunge and minimize the lock-on radius. I think this would make a significant difference without making it useless. Knife lunge is supposed to be removed in MW3, and that is fine with me. twitter.com/#!/fourzerotwo/statuses/110095083268870144: @robuk84 @fearcrads It is different, no lunge and removed commando as a perk. I've always said, one-hit knife is essential to Modern Warfare

There are only two loadouts ever needed (although it's hardly fun using them), all perks pro ofc:
UMP +silencer Glawk +akimbo lethal: Semtex tac: Stun P1: Scavenger P2: CB P3: Ninja KS1: UAV KS2: CUAV KS3: Harrier
TAR +tube - lethal: claymore tac: stun P1: OMA P2: DC P3: SitRep KS1: Harrier KS2: CG KS3: Nuke
'nuff said.

That would be hilarious. MegaqwertyDead Silence causes Recon to 'be less effective against you' according to some sources, and 'cancels the effect of recon' according to wikia. Unfortunately, it's not unlocked until level 52. But it's something, and with 80 levels 52 may very well be less than halfway through a prestige. Edited all perks in wikia unlocked later than lvl 30, since we can only assume what their primary effect is and there is no way to tell what their pro effect will be.
