He would if he's using a Scar H though as it's one of the best attachments for that particular gun.
Anyway, he could use a tube on his Scar H, the perks and or attachments don't make people good.

The real question is, how can we decide who exactly is the 'best' gamer? Some might say it's the guy who runs Marathon and Lightweight and wins matches by capping flags and destroying bombsites, despite his negative K/D. Some might argue the necessity of slaying, and say that the higher the K/D, the better the player. Some might assert that getting a large amount of kills is the most important attribute of a player. The fact is, a team cannot win a game with just the one player fulfilling his or her role effectively. The best teams on this game have smart objective players and efficient slayers, functioning simultaneously.
That's why I think the question of finding the 'best' player is not a particularly worthwhile one. A good player in a bad team becomes a very average player.
If you're looking to rank him among the best slayers in the world, obviously competitive leagues are the way to go (on the Xbox and PS3. you'll find the top teams and players in MLG leagues). But really, when we're talking about winning games, individual skill on this game is secondary to teamwork.

Look I'm not even gonna address this *ridiculous* Scar Extended Mags thing. It's a tired old argument. He's not gonna handicap himself just to prove that he's good. That's my final word on it.
I should probably show him this thread at somepoint, too, lol.
He hasn't put any videos up on youtube yet -- should I tell him to put one up w/ commentary and then you guys judge? I mean you can't judge a lot from someone's "highlights" anyway, because they are selected from many games. But to get a sense of his playing style I think it would be useful. You will see that he's not a camper (not that you guys didn't believe me but...would still be cool.)
Palestblue: He plays equal parts TDM as well as Domination. I obv. don't need to explain why K/D is important for TDM. And when he plays Domination...yeah I guess we're judging his "slaying" ability.

Competitive leagues' skill cannot be directly transfered to pub skill. Ever. This guy could be beast at a competitive gametype (like MLG/PROMOD) or suck dick. but this is no way translated to skill in any other gametype. I would go as far as even saying that someone could be beast at MLG Dom and suck at MLG SnD. Skills don't translate that well guys. In the end only basic aiming skills completely translate. Positioning, timing, map awareness, nade spots, routes, and everything thing else is different for everything. Nothing is the same.

and why do you think that? chyros? why are you not good when you use Emags on a scar? If he truly would be competitive and actually cared about the ammo count, he'd use a TAR instead, or if he cares about the recoil he'd just use an ACR. The SCAR-H xmags is just a build for people who can't handle either. Besides, competitive people tend to favour silencers or FMJ instead. Xmags is really mostly just a waste, especially because top players don't really need more than 20 bullets.

that explaines why you see the ACR as the best weapon, with host advantage, it is @ the silencer on a scar or fmj.... competitive ppl use way less silencers then pub players. a silencer isnt any good when you opponents team is calling positions anyway. and the range reduction really comes into play too, because that one extra bullet is important. next to that, there is nothing wrong with a litle bit more ammo, even good players can use EM, because 30 bullets is always better then 20... how good you are, more bullets is always good. it allows you to kill 3 ppl with one clip if you could kill 2 normally. or it allows you to spray a little more then needed, when you know somebody is comming around the corner for example. @ vardinator, my accuracy is -17.04% wtf is that ppl? ^_^ I haven't hacked anything or something....

Xcal, you gotta watch a lot of his vids to get a taste of it, he beasts so bad, I'll link you to one of his most beast rounds. Link@quipie I have accounts with 5 and 6 KD does that put me within the top 1%? That's not a great example of Xcal playing the objective... I love Xcal, but this is just a big score with some nice clips... As the game ends he plays the objective more but that's only because he has to. I think the most impressive Xcal vid is probably the 22-1 riot shield TDM or 41-6 with a weaker weapon, playing aggressively, with UAV, CUAV, Prec. Airstrike But these have a lot of host advantage going on too...

Plenty of competitive play is on FFA where this doesn't apply, and silencers give a direct combat advantage as well because it's much harder to pinpoint where you're being shot from . Hmmeh, kinda true, but 20 bullets is plenty for than, you don't need the extra 10.

K/D Ratio in objective games is not really the full picture. Having a ton of air support the whole match helps, but it's not deathmatch so I don't think K/D alone is very telling of someone's skill.
My last game session I played about an hour and a half of domination. I was consistently getting paired up with a teammate who had a terrible ratio every game, but also was using riot shield and constantly capping flags. Since I also am one of the few people capping flags on teams, we won almost every game, regardless of how many kills the other team was getting. If that person was on my team in the lobby, I was sure we were going to win. In that scenario another player in the lobby may have better FPS "skills" for instance, but I'd rather have the riot shielder on my team. So who is the better player then?
In other words, skill depends on the gametype in my opinion. FFA and to a lesser extent TDM are the only matches where I'd say your K/D ratio are a true determination of your skill.

What guns do the best players in the world use? Probably the guns that they have the most success with. If he were really really really good, he'd NEVER put xmags on. What else would you put on a SCAR? The Hammerspace Magazines, a silencer or an HBS or something?

If you have scavenger why would you need extended mags, unless you like to spray and pray alot.

Skill is arbitrary. The host always gets a massive advantage in this game.
We need Dedicated Servers...

My friend says he uses the X-Mags so he can kill multiple enemies in a row without needing to reload. He says he doesn't use silencer because Kill-Cam negates a part of the reason for using silencers, and that he baits ppl with his radar marker after he shoots anyway. (I don't really know what that last part means but... w/e lol.) I asked him why not FMJ and he loled. He said he didn't notice any extra kills thru bullet penetration while using FMJ and that when you try to kill someone through objects it takes longer and makes you more vulnerable.
So in general, stop inferencing "he must spray and pray" as if it's the only logical reason for having extended mags. Most people die anyway before they can even use that many shots to take somebody down, (which he obv. doesn't. because he lives a lot.)
Scavenger and Extra Mags don't overlap at all in their uses. Extra mags doesn't give you more ammo, it's more capacity for each individual clip. And Scavenger is...well... you should get the point, illram.
I do agree that K/D ratio in objective games is not the full picture though. However, if I can offer my own anecdote, when my friends and I go "full on" capping flags, we love having one person on our team getting that air support, forcing the enemy to respawn, not factoring in to their kill streaks, and overall pissing them off by being awesome.
"Skill is arbitrary." Ummm...no? I mean, the question is how arbitrary is it. I'd bet that if you took a set of random players and had them go from house to house (with varying connections) and play online matches (not against each other, but just one at a time online) that the K/D for each individual "house" would be closer to 1 (thus proving greater randomness and less correlation, as the average ratio in COD online is close to 1) than the ratios that each individual player carried with him from house to house. What I said might not seem to make sense at first but it does.

the scar-h + extended mags + scavenger is a fine setup pub games. anyone who says differently is just deluding themselves. in a competitive game i could see how it could struggle though against people using famas red dot or m16 holo with sleight of hand pro + stopping power.
with that being said, asking whether a player is among the best in the world because he has a high K/D using an overpowered setup against playstation players in pub games is pretty humorous.

I prefer the word "optimized" to "overpowered" lol.
I figured there was no harm in asking. I just rarely ever see anyone else with that high a ratio (who wasn't clearly hacking.) He's going for 4 before he goes off to college and stops playing because...well it's college.
I guess I should have given a more specific question like is he top "X%?" I think when i say "best in the world" it makes people think if I am asking if he is like, top 100 or top 50, which I know he's not.

semantics in fairness, I consider most of the classes that I use to be optimized and/or overpowered. I.e. I try to use the best combination of guns and perks for the class's desired purpose(s). someone pointed this out before, but mw2 has an absolutely massive following and an established competitive scene. i have no doubt that your friend is a very good player, but until he plays the competitive circuit a bit, the question is a bit optimistic and the answer simply has to be 'no'.

whoops, missed the top X% part. maybe it would be interesting to try to quantify what that would be in terms of pub console TDM players. with a 4K:D and ASSuMing a high aggregate K-D spread, that should put him easily in the top .1%, I would think.

Yeah. Someone should devise some sort of K/D sorting system, with percentiles. Would be interesting for everoyne to use. I'm sure it would resemble a bell curve, with most people around "1."
Top .1% is what I guessed too.
On a side note, i'm surprised that there isn't like an "ultimate guidebook" or like "ultimate video tutorial" for how to get seriously good at COD, written by like a top competitive player. I bet if someone came out with a good one, obv. a doo-dooload of people would read or watch it because of how many ppl want to get good at the game. I know my friend would love to do youtube tutorials but he hasn't gotten around to it. Does anyone know of ppl who give really good, in depth tips? NextGenTactics has the best tips vids I've seen so far, but it never feels QUITE as in-depth as I think it should be. Doesn't consistently get down to the nits and grits.

Again, offline or splitscreen there is no lag, as data travels near instantly with zero interruption. Since you are all on an even playing field, naturally the best player will shine the brightest. This situation never occurs online due to netcode and P2P hosting, so those with the best connection etc etc. that's not 100% correct

I think one could devise an in depth strategy guide for each map and gametype, but I think for basic FPS skills, it comes down to aiming and quickness and smarts. Some people are just better at it than others. I've been playing FPS games for almost 20 years now and although I consider myself an above average player, honestly, I'm not that much better than when I started out as a 10 year old. And no offense intended to your friend, sorry man. I know e-mags increases the clip and I know the scar suffers from a small clip; I've just never wanted to do anything to the scar other than silence it or add a skill cannon though, since in my opinion scav is necessary. But to each his own!

Also my friend has another account for strictly TDM and he says his K/D is approaching 3.5 on that one. I haven't physically seen it though, lol. But I'll let you guys know when I literally see the 3.5 and that it's all TDM's (I can tell because if he hasn't completed the domination challenges or demolition challenges...etc. Then I know it's TDM.)

Hey guys...really entertaining thread so far, lol. This is sportsfreaklgg's friend. Figured I would just hop on here myself... I have an account where I only play TDM. I got it up to 4.02 today. Not saying I'm one of the best players in the world at all.. but I think that goes to show actually TDM can be easier than Domination. I think it's because more crappy players hop on, see "Team Deathmatch" as the first option, and just choose that. Whereas more experienced players actually know what Domination is.
