You people who are so critical of evaluating skill with K/D ratios are obviously just not very good. Your arguments are akin to saying you cannot evaluate a pitcher by his ERA. While ERA doesn't tell the whole picture, for one stat it is a great measure of "skill" (as is WHIP).
A 3.78 K/D puts him probably in the top 0.1%-0.3%. My K/D is 2.30 and that puts me in the top ~2%.

in MW2 u can't say who is the best player, because of the whole weaponry and the balance is taken out and for the rest, in CoD it don't give a "best player in the world". because a "best player" must be good in ALL gamemodes. so he is the best on the game and that's impossible

k4t4n4 - agreed on the era to K/D comparison. As a fantasy baseball player myself, I know that ERA is flawed - it is subject to fluctuations in BABIP, the fielders behind him, the strength of that pitchers schedule, unlucky/luck strand rates, etc. However at the end of the day it STILL is a good measure of skill.
And I might add that when we're talking about TDM, K/D is a REALLY direct statistic - the only flaw might be if someone just sits in a corner in camps, in which case they don't get the most kills all the time. For example, someone who goes 4-1 is less valuable than someone who goes 20 - 7....but who has the better ratio? I would rather 20-7, because it is still an above average ratio and contributing to a higher volume of the match with that above average ratio.
Anyway... i got a little too ahead of myself, lol. This flaw in the KDR statistic for TDM doesn't really apply to me because I usually lead my team in kills to begin with (from a factual standpoint, not to sound cocky, if that makes sense.)
Snakex - Agreed on the 2nd point, disagreed on the first point.
About the 2nd point - I guess just apply my K/D to TDM then. I don't play demolition or S&D so who knows how good i would be at those, I guess...my friend was really just curious of how my K/D fits in.
1st point - I assume you are talking about SMG imbalances, etc. Every game has flaws or imbalances, but that doesn't mean there can't be skilled players just because of those flaws. It is still possible to evaluate skill as long as those imbalances apply to all players. In fact part of being a good player in CoD is figuring what class works for you, and fine tuning your strategies (there are many different types.)
