I watched the entire Livefeed on XBox Live. They had a replay of it, one can watch. Stop, pause, rewind, etc....really get a better feel of what is going on.
Something not being discussed on this board, is just HOW much Treyarch was pushing the competitive element, the whole 'ESports' angle, ...they were really, really pushing this. It was almost nauseating (but i love the idea) Every segment between the games, the head Treyarch games were hyping this up, over and over and over. ESports, teams, pro leagues, competition, ranking, objectives, team play, etc.......It was non stop and that was THE theme of the entire day. Not how overpowered shotguns are, or what types of sniper attachments are used.
And it really showed up in the Scoreboard. No one is talking about this. It sure looks like Treyarch is HEAVILY pushing a scoring system that looks, feels and resembles a Americanized pro-sports score. For example....rather than a typical 7,500 to 6,100 TDM score.....the scoreboards are front and center now and look like "75 to 65". It resembles an NBA score, that style, than some strange formula that one has to translate into score (score/1,000= kills).
Also - it sure looks like the game modes are being standardized to more of an American'ized competitive format. So they aren't going to finish upon a certain score (when the game gets to 75 kills, it ends), but ending on a set time, like all pro sports do in America. NFL is 60 minutes. NBA is 48 minutes. For CoD, the TDM live feed match, and the 6x3 TDM multi team match....the games were 6 minutes long. The match didn't seem like it was going to end at a certain score. Not sure on this, but it appeared that way.
It also seems like they are going to try and standardize the games so they all have the same time limit. Again..TDM was 6 min. Multi-Team TDM was 6 min. The new format, 'Hardpoint', that also had a 6 min game length.(you get one pt per sec your team occupies the hard pt zone - and the zone moves around the map) The example game they showed, it lasted six min and the final score was TEam Optic 146 to the English Team, Prophecy, 88.
Even the Domination format, which was the next game in the live feed. I mentioned before, the new Dom mode is now two halves rather than one game to 200. Two halves....sort of going off the Americanized sport system which Americans are all familiar with (Football, basketball, etc...) The game doesn't go to a set pt total.....but just to a time limit. 6min per half. The euros beat the Americans 119 to 88. They didn't have time for the second half.
