Seriously. Buy it.
Probably the best exotic in the game for two reasons.
Infinite ammo
Utility for bosses (something the invective...the other comparison point... doesn't have)
I can't overstate how important the infinite ammo part is. It removes the need for special ammo synthesis.
This is especially important on Raid Hard mode where the death penalty removes special and heavy ammo.

Guess what?
You can regenerate ammo with the icebreaker then switch weapons to the gun you really want to use and it will have regenerated ammo too! I can switch between my icebreaker, patience and time, and praetyth's revenge for the complete trifecta of elemental damage. I can switch to my plan-C for CQC dominance (with 18 ammo upon refresh).
I bought 2. Thinking about buying 3.

So... just so I understand.... - I buy this Icebreaker gun
- keep it in inventory
- use my special weapon o'choice and deplete the special ammo with it
- switch to this icebreaker weapon
- sit there and try not to die while letting the icebreaker regenerate my depleted special weapons ammo
- wait for full ammo
- then switch pack to my special weapon o'choice and continue the slaughter
- rinsing and repeating the process when necessary

Sometimes it also makes a 'whirring' sound too. But it still plays ok. I ended up not taking it back on Wednesday, because I was only two light pieces from level 28 and I couldn't wait five business days. I had to complete the lv 28 first. Seeing how I got in the VoG last night, it turned out to be a lucky move on my part. But I have the Best Buy warranty. I'm going to drive/grind until it actually shuts down in a ball of flames |

I can pretty much second everything Dumien said here. In my opinion, it'd the most useful and impactful weapon in the game. I'm not sure we'd have three Hard Mode VoG runs under our belt PS4-side if not for two of us carrying this weapon. As good as you think the Vex Mythoclast is at PvP, the Ice Breaker is a magnitude better than that at PvE. It's that strong. |

Bought two of them and I will try and get the third in time by doing the Weekly Strike Missions (x2 +6 Strange Coins and x1 +3 Strange Coins seems the only way). This is one of the exotic weapons I have been after for a long and now I have two of them. |

I have 14 coins and I still yet to do weekly on 2 characters which are at level 21 and 20. Level 22 weekly is doable, and can give me the 3 coins I need. I was on it solo yesterday with my 21 Warlock, got to the final boss with relative ease and have a solid strategy to annihilate him. As I "prefect" (euphorism for dying and respawning) my execution and think the victory is within my grasp, I got hit by disconnect then sent back to Orbit No time to try again and have to quit. I am going out of town tomorrow for 3 days, so I only have 1 more shot at this today 5:30pm to 7:30pm PT. Any XONE bros available to help a fellow guarian? I just need an anchor to keep the final boss fight from being reset, especially during the final moment of madness when several shielded mini bosses come out aggressively… |

Super! With your level and my extensive scouting (from repeatedly dying yesterday), we should be able to blow through this in 30 minutes, hopefully. That will give me time to buy the Ice Breaker and try again with my level 20 Titan Defender (I can do it solo if you have more important goals to achieve), and see how good the weapon really is |
