Sorry...
I should have prefaced my comment at because destiny is so new, things are going to be more random, but as it gets older, it will be more smartdrop based

Our first attempt at the raid, I spent 23 hours over the course of 4 days in the Vault of Glass. We failed to complete it, and it was still probably the best experience I have ever had while gaming.
Since then, I have poured into the raid an additional 24 hours on my Warlock, 12 hours on my Titan, and 1.5 hours on my Hunter. As GodMars mentioned, I finally got the armor piece I needed to get my Warlock to level 30 last night. I have received Titan boots, and no gear for my Hunter. I have received 3 ships, 4 sparrows, 2x Praedyth's Revenge, 1x Found Verdict, 3x Vision of Confluence, 2x Vex Mythoclast. I also received the Plan C in the raid despite already having one.
The issue isn't that the RNG is giving you duplicates, not giving you what you need, and there's no guarantee of ever getting what you want. It's all that, combined with the fact that we're not really having fun doing the raid anymore. It's that simple. I've completed the raid 15 times already. If my Warlock is any indication, I'll need to do the raid another 18 times just to get my Hunter and Titan up to level 30 as well, and that just isn't appealing.

IMHO, once a player can get through VoG on hard consistently for a character, the PvE part is basically "done". Just do Nightfall and Raid once per week for the loots, and maybe weekly Strike to pick up some coins, then move on to either Crucible (if you are having any kind of fun there) or other games. Level 30 will be reached eventually. There are plenty of other games to play, at least from my vantage point of view. Titanfall will be dropping the biggest upgrade tomorrow, and CoD:AW and Halo are just around the corner. I have only played 3 Crucible games so far, so far it is fun enough for me. Next month I will be juggling 4 very different kinds of FPS MP games, and most likely suck in all of them When I put up the "one month in, time to reflect" thread, my intention was to check whether level29+ bros are having fun when "leveling"/"looting" are no longer the main concern. I mentioned 2 glaring weaknesses that may make Destiny no longer fun, and looks like some of you have reached that point. Time to pick up another game and put Destiny on "weekly maintenance" mode This is another reason why I keep pushing for the idea of having 3 characters leveling up at the same time. The classes/subclasses themselves are providing good variety against the mission content shortage. Mix that up with powerful exotic/legendary weapons you are acquiring, you'll be able to play through the same enemies with different strategies, putting more life into these limited content. As for Raid: I have mixed feelings as a late comer. On the one hand, I am glad that I can get carried by more experienced players and get the loot stuff much easier. On the other hand, I can't help but feeling that I might have missed the most fun part of the Raid experience, the joy of enlightenment through trying-failing-trying-something-new loop. I am tempted to find 5 other noobs like me to play the thing together, all of which have the mentality of "failures are totally acceptable", just to experience the fun you guys had at the very beginning.

Hopefully you are getting the expansion witty! That should be the great equalizer for players who joined the game late.

Hopefully you are getting the expansion witty! That should be the great equalizer for players who joined the game late. I bought the $90 Destiny + Season Pass digital bundle. Will be ready as soon as the expansion packs are dropped . Dumien: with 3 level 30s, a crap load of exotic/legendary weapons, and no interest in PvP, what are you going to play before that happens? Are you going to come back to Titanfall for the co-op experience? Still thinking about renting CoD:AW? I just preordered the digital day zero edition and will play it starting at day zero hour zero. Praying that all the movement stuff can make it provide close enough fun as Titanfall. Zero interest on Halo, huh? not even picking it up for campaigns? H1+H2+H3+H4+all kinds of skulls (= Destiny modifiers), 36 missions combined (more than Destiny even if you consider VoG as 3 different missions), should be fun to co-op through. H2 & H4 got great visual upgrades, H1 & H3 are not too shabby either. Did I mention 1080P + 60FPS?

Yeah I just don't like Halo. I know it's a good game. I started playing a bit of Titanfall with pegasus/NLF/Prot0ss the other day. That was really fun...
I'll be renting AW. I convinced my friends I see day-to-day not to buy it (rent it first) or preorder it...lol
Until then I'll log on to help people and level up weapons.

Just curious: how is Halo that different from Destiny, just from PvE point of view? I assume the lack of weapon & loadout variety / sense of progression through leveling / loot?
Core game play wise they seem to be very similar to me, with Halo not having many dungeon style big boss battles.

This might fall here... dunnoo.... whatever.
Getting 1 more public event in so I can buy boots for my warlock. I think it was the defending the warstat one.
Killed a 1st wave, random, joe smuck Dreg.
Bastard pops up a purple engram. At first, I thought it was heavy ammo, but nope. there it is... it's beside my warlock bond, which is pretty much useless other than making my sexxxy left bicep glow blue. But whatevz... I can break it down for mats.
Anywho, my pug murder everything in sight (we had me, a level 25, joined with a group of a 27, 2 28's and a 29) I get my 4 marks. No sweat. One of the easiest, next to a Devil Walker pug of mine took down in like... 15 seconds because I was with 5 other 29's who did all the work for me and I think I barely fired half a clip in before they took it down (I was loading up my mg)
So... anyways, it's shopping time: I go back to the ship.
But first, I stop at the Cryptarch... who knows... maybe I'll get something good and he'll save me some marks, like he did with my pair of legendary gauntlets.
He decripts the item, and something weird/never happened to me before happens: it's not blue or purple...
It's gold chest armor.
I gosh darn golly gee whiz near soil myself (mainly because I've been holding a piss for far far far too long)
From a joe smuck Dreg from the Cosmodrome, I get an exotic gold chest armour.
Mah Tha Fah Kah!!!
So pumped... look at the stats... very very nice ones... let's slap this baby on!!!!!
Won't work.
Because it's an exotic chest armor... for a hunter.
FML.... I can't even use the gosh darn golly gee whiz saphire strands either.
From the penthouse, to the outhouse.
I don't care about random drops, but could they at least be for your gosh darn golly gee whiz class!!!!

Become legend!"

I still say grats! Let me know if you need a lowbie to grind your Hunter with. I got a lowly, mostly ignored Titan I should be playing but can barely be arsed. ;3

In my rage and disappointment, I disassembled it. I thought about it, but whenever I start a new character, I like a total fresh start... no "big brother" helping a "little brother" out.
I don't think I got much good either... some sapphire threads and maybe an ascendant shard?

Wow, that's a big waste At the very least, you should fully upgrade it (spending as little resources as possible) before dismantling it. It will give you more stuff. Of course, you can't do that until you have a hunter who can equip the armor in the first place, at which point you don't need to dismantle any way For future reference: after deciding to throw away an amor, you should upgrade it as much as possible before doing so to maximize the materials output.

Don't sweat it. Exotic armor pieces can be bought from Xur for 13 coins, not too bad.

The feelz. Wrong class exotic drops hurt. Especially from a butt fuck no name level 4 Dreg from the Mothyards.

Don't rage against RNG gods, especially when they give you good stuff I have a similar story. Last week I bought the exotic helmet for my hunter from Xur, my hunter also has a legendary chest so he is pretty well geared up. I had 24 MoL, so the 23 exotic chest engram is within my reach if I want it. After (too) much consideration, I decided to try my luck, hoping for a warlock chest piece because I also have a legendary for Titan. Titan chest piece is not ideal but acceptable, so I have a pretty decent chance to be happy. I gave the thing to the Cryptarch with trepidation and excitement. When he handed me the end result, you guessed it, it is a hunter chest armor . Needless to say, The shiny piece with a cool looking wolf head is sitting in the spare slot collecting dust right now. I could have saved the 23 MoL for this week's lottery. The consolation here is that the exotic helmet I have is specifically for Gunslinger. So the chest piece have the opportunity to come out and play when Bladedancer personality takes control. Also, having 2 exotic pieces give me better odds on Raid Gear slot machine...

My main issue are the bounty choices I'm getting. It is always Vanguard Mentor Missive, so I am usually left with the Invection shotgun or the Pocket Infinity pulse rifle because none of the others interest me from that particular bounty group for various reasons, usually asking too much from the Crucible for a so-so weapon. I suppose I can work for unwanted weapons in the future and then redeem them for Ascendant Energy.
The Cryptarch decrypted a legendary engram and it became the Knucklehead Radar, an exotic Hunter helmet. First time that has happened and I have no exotic armour for my Hunter until now. It looks a bit stupid though.

So I got two legendary engrams... thinking either exotic and or legendary hunter gear, i was kinda excited only to get two warlock pieces. However, turning in some bounties, my Titan received an exotic bounty.. well I got the exact same choice as days before with my warlock. Going for Thorn this time. A tid bit later, I turn in some more bounties only to be sent to the shipwright, giving me some blue new ship?! Even Random is random in Destiny....
