Group members were myself, HebbNH, Witty, Dumien, MrMoth, and TroutMan.
Hebb and I went into the Mars side with either moth or trout. One of them dropped a rocket or two. I Gjallarhorned the hell out of the boss and left. Hebb grabbed the relic. Out we went to the other side. Gjallarhorned that boss like he was nothing. Grabbed that relic and off to the conflux we went. Dumien was straight wrecking things out there, giving us a ton of time to work inside the portals. It got real interesting at the conflux though when Hebb and myself both died, and two other people had to grab the relics from us at the last second to finish off the last couple minotaurs. Probably took us 7 tries or so if I had to guess.
Then came Atheon.... It took us a good few rounds for everyone to get the feel for what they were doing. Then it became apparent that Witty's legendary scout rifle just wasn't going to cut it for the oracles. To say the game thoroughly enjoyed teleporting Witty into the Venus side is a gross understatement. The game was trying really, really hard to piss us off. But nonetheless, we pushed forward. Witty asked to go grab another couple of guns from the tower, but was shot down when HebbNH declared that he's already played a little longer than intended, needs to go to bed, and is only going to give it another good run or two but wouldn't count glitched runs. Run one....glitch. Run two...glitch. Run three...get Atheon halfway dead. Solid run. Glitch? Another good run....."Oh yeah, we totally glitched there." Every run for the next hour and a half is jokingly claimed as being a glitched run because we were actually all way too determined to get through this thing. Finally at around midnight (central) we decide, ok, we gotta take Witty to the tower to get these other guns (Should've done it a lot sooner). And in another moment of Witty being Witty, he has to go dig up his weapons from his other characters, not just grab them from the tower. Roughly 10 minutes later, we fire it back up. Things start going much smoother. After probably another half hour (roughly 1 am) we finally finish it off after three flawless portal runs. Much dancing ensues.
Drops included a handful of ships, Witty got a Mythoclast and sparrow. HebbNH got two helmets. One of the other guys I think got a Mythoclast and maybe a helmet? I got the shaft....energy and shards. At this rate, I'll never be level 30. That being said, I was very excited to finish the hard raid for the first time and unlock that achievement. I'm really anxious to get back in there and try it again, as I'm starting to get really desperate. All in all, a very fun night of raiding despite a hundred failures and using two new guys we'd never met. Witty always keeps us entertained!

FYI: at the end of the session I had a chat with MrMoth and TroutMan, and asked them to come here as well as join the clan. Hopefully they will soon. It's never too early to start planning for the next Raid, so let's go: 11/20 Thursday VoG hard run, tentative start time TBD (BTW, Dumien will again try to get Oracle checkpoint and duplicate for us) 1. Witty - 30 Warlock -> 29 Titan -> 29 Hunter: available after 5:30pm PT 2. Open 3. Open 4. Open 5. Open 6. Open

Yeah that'd be great to get a couple more guys in the rotation -- should help with some of the trouble we've had lately with getting full groups. The more the merrier!
Also, I'm in for Thursday.

Lessons learned from last night:
1. When somebody asks you to go back to the tower so they can get some stuff, GO!!! 2. Bring all your stuff with you to the VoG so #1 isn't an issue. 3. Super Good Advice is great for the Atheon battle assuming you have the "Super Good Advice" perk unlocked. That perk returns almost all missed shots directly to the magazine. Guess what? Shooting detainment bubbles and oracles counts as missed shots, so you get a ton of bang for your buck ammo-wise. I had two portal runs in a row where I literally just held the trigger down the entire time while shooting oracles. I didn't reload once and still had over half the mag left! That allows you to use special ammo synthesis to refill your sniper or fusion rifle for big damage against Atheon. Super good!

Hope to have that max leveled this week. I'm not entirely sure how it stacks up with the SGA, but I've used it and it wrecks bosses. I've knocked down end stage bosses in two clips. And that's not even fully maxed out yet. Count me in for Thursday.

Thunderlord is probably better for 99% of the game's content -- that goes for most other LMGs too. Really the only point of SGA for the oracles and detain bubbles is the fact that you practically never run out of ammo or have to reload, ever -- the benefits of which can't be overstated. All the other LMGs will kill them just fine as well, but ammo and reloading will be an issue.

As a result: right now Thunderlord is at the bottom of my weapon upgrade list. SGA on the other hand just made it to the top

This is a bit off topic of raid LFG, just want to see if any bros may have similar interest:
11/23 Sunday Iron Banner grind: buy a buff (effective for 12 hours), and play IB all day long, until we reach rank 4+ and get those 30-light boots & gloves
1. Witty

I agree on the RL point. But to keep in mind, one small problem with rocket launches is the 'miss'. Crunch time comes, you go to shoot, and it goes bad. You misfire. You are kind of screwed. You end up doing either 50% damage or a kill shot. 50% damage can kind of leave you in a bad situation. Like when defending the plates during the Gatekeeper stage. The minotaurs/Praetorians start teleporting, mix in the other chaos, it's easy to miss that rocket shot.
With the LMG, if you miss a bullet or two, things are a bit safer.

My plan is to get SGA fully upgraded, then Truth, then Thunderlord. Lots of grind but once I get to the end of it I will be all set in the heavy department. Hopefully by then I'll have a Gjallarhorn as well

That's what the Truth and Gjallarhorn are for! Tracking rockets = practically no misses! Otherwise, agreed. Insta-gibbing yourself with RLs when somebody else (aka THebb) drops a Titan bubble without warning is a problem as well. Mostly joking about that. Mostly.

(Cross post from the patch notes thread)
This Bungie tweet is unsettling:
Most likely this is why the game felt "laggy" during our raid last night. It was not a network issue, but a frame rate issue?

This is another reason to go for digital If you are not having fun with IB solo, don't play it this early. It can be frustrating because a single player can't carry an entire team. iw5000: your goal is only to reach rank 3, no need to grind now. Wait until the latter part of the week, buy the buff, play a few hours and you are done.

Have a few beers. I am also interested in those two guns, but I need to be level 5 for them.

I want to play some IB but there are lots of weekly/nightfall/raid to be played as well, and I don't have large chunk of time to play during the week days. When playing PvP, I have a lengthy warm up period, say 30 - 40 minutes. Weekday evenings, with the exception of Thursday, just don't give me that kind of room.
I'll get the PvE stuff out of the way before doing IB on weekend.
Just curious, what guns are you talking about?

Witty, are your dates correct? The qualifying stuff is from 3pm ET Saturday (11/22) to 3pm ET Sunday (11/23). This isn't a clan war, this is a testing run. They are basically looking to see how well a clan does. If we have twenty people play on Saturday night, all twenty run solo and lose a lot, we could be placed in a Silver or Bronze division. Making it doubly hard to climb out of, and get back into Diamond. You would think a clan like ours, that finished 17th in the world (out of well over 120,000 clan that entered), wouldn't have to requalify all over again... ---------------- Call of Duty Clan Wars ClanWarsNews Call of Duty® Clan Wars Qualifying Event Posted by ClanWarsNews in Call of Duty Clan Wars on Nov 19, 2014 12:55:52 PM Before the first official Clan War for Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare begins, it’s time to see where you stack up in the competition! In order to prepare for Clan Wars, we are running a 24-hour qualifying event this weekend on the 22nd and 23rd. The results of the qualifying event will determine which division each Clan will be placed in for the first full Clan War engagement. Call of Duty® Clan Wars Qualifying Event Qualification begins Saturday, November 22nd at 12PM PST / 9PM CET and lasts through Sunday, November 23rd at 12PM PST / 9PM CET. The qualifying event will track individual Clan member wins across all Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare multiplayer game modes. Based on performance, Clans will be placed into either the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum division. Yeah, my dates are messed up. 11/22 is Saturday and 11/23 is Sunday.
Regarding placements: what are the factors? The more wins the merrier no matter how many players playing or games played (in which case I'll jump in), or W/L ration and/or Wins per player matter (in which case I probably should not participate)?
