I'm in for the raid tonight. Somehow or other we'll scrounge up a 6th to do the raid...

I actually would be happy if we just all played some crucible and got some games in there.
I've kind of lost a little bit of my interest in the Raids.

Anybody going to be on tonight? I'd kinda like to get that Arms Dealer/Legend of Acrius strike done at some point.

Cool, I'll try to plan for that. I know THebb needs that too and has expressed interest (or at least didn't express disinterest) in getting it done.

Trials was a blast last night. Results are below.
Starting ELO scores
Hebb = 1049 Stone = 1049 Slartabartfest = 946 AnEpicMistake = 953
Attempt 1
Loss 2-4..........988 vs 1453 (-11 elo) Won 4-1...........1071 vs 1423 (+87 elo) Loss 1-4..........1066 vs 1694 (-5 elo) Won 4-0 ..........1182 vs 1177 (+122 elo) **** Loss 0-4 .........1129 vs 1263 (-56 elo) Loss 0-4 .........1100 vs 1354 (-29 elo)
2-4
Attempt 2
Win 4-0............1194 vs 1102 (+94 elo)**** Win 4-0............1251 vs 1099 (+56 elo) Win Forfeit Win 4-0............1282 vs 1033 (+31 elo) Loss 0-4...........1281 vs 2141 (-1 elo)....had an opponent with a 3006 elo, he went 16-1 Win 4-1............1339 vs 1259 (+57 elo) Loss 1-4...........1335 vs 2105 (-2 elo) Loss 0-4...........1320 vs 1715 (-16 elo)
4-3 (5-3 counting forfeit win, as they quit)
Ending ELO scores
Hebb = 1378 Stone = 1378 Slartabartfest = 1275 AnEpicMistake = 1282
Looking back, based on ELO rankings, in some of those games we didn't stand a freaking chance. And looking at the kill count in those games, it was brutal. Like the 0-4 loss to the ELO#2141 team. They had some guys really high in Diamond ranking and it showed. They were rough.
All in all, out of the 13 games, we were favorites in only 2 of the 13 games. We went 2-0 as the favorite, held serve. In the 11 underdog games, we went 4-7. I think was pretty decent. Two of those wins were almost pick'ems (we were slight dogs), but two of the wins, we decently picked against. So getting those four wins, is really why the ELO scores just shot through the roof last night. Heb and I jumped from the bronze tier into the Gold Standings (top 30%)

Trials is by far the best game type in destiny. Heck it is the reason I dabble in destiny PvP in the first place.
I went from 1850 to 1500 this week lol

I mentioned in another thread, Trials is almost more fun than the Raid. I might even say it is. The raid is fun in D2....but it's kind of tedious with the all memorization shit (like the gauntlet) and it's just mostly AI memorization. The trials...it's good old fashioned FPS against other people in a really highly competitive environment. I'm trying to understand the rankings thing...what happened?

I actually like this raid. I can't for the life of me understand why kings fall was a favorite raid for so many players though. Mechanics mechanics mechanics.

I actually like this raid. I can't for the life of me understand why kings fall was a favorite raid for so many players though. Mechanics mechanics mechanics. It's not horrible. Not saying that. But like finishing it, and getting coins for a prize? Come on. I also wish there was a way to explore it more solo. Get into the underbelly and look around. I can't do that solo. I need other people and when with other people, we are always in a hurry. This kind of sucks. One of the fun things about the VoG and Crota was the ...hate to say this, but the glitches in them. Well, Crota wasn't really glitches...but both I could go get in there and do solo. At least explore in the VoG. That added some more fun, getting in there to explore. So far, if I had to rank them.... 1. Vault of Glass - Atheon (9/14)- The vibe, feeling from this was awesome, probably because it was the first one. But it felt like one big journey though, all flowing...not five different set pieces. It also had a nice mix of exploration, shooting, puzzles, jumping, and tough bosses. 2. Crota's End - Crota (12/14)- Crota had bugs and issues, but I loved it because I could do it solo. And that made it fun. The first level is still my most favorite stage, outracing the thrall. A+ there. That might the best stage of them all. The other stuff was solid too. 3. Calus - Enough said on this above. If I could explore the basement, I might like this better as I could appreciate what is going on. I can't. And some of the boss fights are underwhelming. Like the gauntlet, I feel like i am doing Mario Kart there. And the dogs? Underwhelming. So I rank this low. edit...I do get the lore says we are being tested, like a game show...but the presentation doesn't show this very well. 4. Kings Fall EDIT...Prison of Elders 5/15) - Skolas? - Prison of Elders had a great boss fight, as it required moving around and actually fighting. This made it solid, maybe the best boss fight. But...the rest? It was ok, but everything being in the same room, it was kind of bland. There was no exploration, excitement of a new room, new boss, etc..I do get that it was supposed to be like being trapped in an arena, that type of vibe, but I don't think the game pulled it off. I didn't feel it. I missed 'The Kings Fall', part of the Taken King DLC (9/15). And the 'Wrath of the Machine', part of the Rise of Iron DLC (9/16)

Oh yeah the rewards are ass. Still surprised how they Foxtroted that up this badly. But the raid itself has a cool vibe to it, you get to actually shoot stuff too. The middle area is one of my favorite parts of the game. Just destroying stuff with a 6 man team. Boss fight shadow realm is the only part I don't really like.
1. VoG will always be the best raid for me personally though. There were some cool mechanics, but also some challenging add fights (like confluxes or gate keepers).
2. Wrath of the machine was just a lot of fun. A little short, but every single fight was challenging, and not only in a mechanic way.
3. I really liked crota, as long as players didn't try to solo parts. Really hated the just waiting for that one player to solo the abyss, or that one player jumping the bridge. That raid was actually quite good in a 6 man team. And the year 3 version was good too, including the challenges.
4. Kings fall was not my raid. Almost every single encounter was completely irrelevant what you did. There were some points where you could die pretty easily, and other points where you could really do anything and not die (example: golgoroth or war priest, the add phases before the DPS phase were just a time sink, nobody died there).

Nope, just memorize the order of the levers and run/pull them fast. I have done it consistently without too much trouble.

I actually like this raid. I can't for the life of me understand why kings fall was a favorite raid for so many players though. Mechanics mechanics mechanics. Length and scope of the raid... it felt titanic No 2 player superstars carrying players... everyone had to carry their weight and git gewd if they didn't... you felt like a team and not a passenger Continuation of the story line... not disconnected like WotM I liked how the raid gear looked I liked the challenge mode aspect of it Lots of bosses KF will always be my fave raid

Wait until you try the prestige version. I probably won't try it. Unless the rewards are super good. If they aren't, I have no desire to spend hours trying to memorize AI patterns with no room for error. Rewards are garbage. Only reason why I play it is because my regular crew have been raiding together for a long while. The prestige version for the armour is just a slight visual difference, and you get a rare quality emblem that doesn't track completions. I think Wrath of the Machine did the armour best from all the previous raids for utility purposes. Unfortunately, the lack of ammo drops can have a huge say on whether encounters are successful or not.

Is there even one destiny player in this world that actually cares about how emblems now track stuff? Kills, void kills, etc... Is this is actually viewed as a 'prize' by the designers, like they thought people would be excited about it, ....don't even know what else to say. Do these Bungie designers like give away candle warmers to their children at xmas?

Do these Bungie designers like give away candle warmers to their children at xmas? Of course there will be. We have the same tracking emblems for how many times people make it to the Lighthouse, KAD ratios etc. I don't really care for the tracking stuff myself, but it means having stuff in-game rather than looking at external sites. The prestige raid completions would mean something a bit more if the cheese to despawn adds at Calus wasn't around. I know people who have the prestige raid emblem who are average raiders from playing with them in Destiny 1, for example.

Yeah I like the flawless one or the trials games won one. I think it is a cool addition, but then again, why they didn't do a (hard) raid number of completions one is simply baffling.
