I was under the impression that the decreased charge time upgrade actually lowers your damage in crusible. I tried it a few times and hated it. Might have been placebo but I don't think so

Might have been placebo but I don't think so Every fusion rifle I've ever seen will 1-shot in regular Crucible if all the projectiles hit. Were you in the Iron Banner when this happened? If so, there could be other factors affecting performance such as the level difference between you and the opponent, as well as how far your weapon was upgraded.

So far I only played IB extensively, and I often need more than 1 shot to kill my opponents, with "often" loosely defined as at least 30% of the time (pure guestimate, no data to back it up). There is one encounter that it took me 4 shots to kill somebody with just a normal shield, although that might be due to some network issues.
I played 29 hunter with fully upgraded Light/Beware.

The Light/Beware should be a one shot kill almost all the time. Especially within 20 meters. I have a hard time even remembering any non-one shot kills. It that reliable imho.

I survived a lot of FR attacks, but I'm pretty sure only because I was juking like a madman and they only connected with a couple hits. I'm fairly certain I never took a full burst and lived.

Pocket Infinity is great because you get off a super fast 3-shot burst. No one survives that. Just gotta get in the practice of hanging near cover. Pop out for quick burst, then dodge back behind cover, then repeat.

@iw: I agree, but the faster firing fusions have a hard time getting one hit kills consistent. I had the same feeling when adding the charge rate upgrade on a slower firing one. Seems like you have to hit more pallets for it to be a kill or something.
I am curious to hear your oppinion about it once you upgraded it!
And yes, the pocket infinity is a beast

I now have the Pocket Infinity, Light/Beware and Perun's Fire. All three have very distinct & different charge rates. If I can get around to it, maybe i'll do some informal testing.
But it will have to wait a while. My Xbox One is being shut down while i leave for a trip, so all Destiny playing is on hold. Unless i can talk my brother-in-law (who is house-sitting my dogs) to get on and grind materials.

More I think about, it would be really nice. Come back after 12 days gone and see my destiny character with 500 metals, irons, helium and 25k glimmer! How do I talk him into doing this ?

That depends how old he is.
If grown, iunno... offer beer? ;p Plus if he hasn't played Destiny and farmed mats for hours already he may actually enjoy it. I still kinda do, just get bored of the same places all the time.

No matter how I spin the farming activities, I can't say I enjoy it. The best I can do is to make it tolerable. Planet farming remains to be the biggest beef I have with Destiny.
Can somebody explain the audio cues again? So far I have totally ignored that part. Since there are endless farming ahead of me, I might as well become as efficient as possible.

Use good speakers/headphones, reduce ambient noise, then go find a chest and a resource node, stand next to it and listen. You'll hear a high pitched sound that fades in as you get close. Once you've noticed it you can sometimes pick up on it when you otherwise didn't realize there was a chest or resource in that area. When you open the chest or take the resource the sound fades immediately. Chests and resources sound slightly different as well, but pretty close. Also certain effects like the warlock's fire shield can make it harder to pick out the sound, or even sound kinda similar, under the right circumstances.
It's sort of a constant high pitch chimey kind of whistle thing... you'll hear it. ;p

It's odd that I have never noticed such sound at all, really need to get to the bottom of it. Hopefully it is not because that pitch is out of my hearing range I did frequently hear a low pitched "thundering" sound when farming. Wondering what that is...

Thundering? Like where? Only thing I can think of is the dropships that bring more enemies make quite a lot of noise when they drop in.

Here's a video on the chest sound thing.
Resources make a similar sound, but I think chests are easier to hear.
Note: I assume the video is accurate. I can't hear it right now at work. I think the sounds were the same in Beta with only maybe volume changes so it should be fine. As it says headphones are recommended. I rarely hear the sound until I'm right on top of the resource when just playing on my TV. With good headphones you can soundwhore from a decent distance and even use stereo and some movement to get a bead on the location, which is helpful for more hidden locations that you haven't seen before to know to check. For example at the entrance from the Steppes to the area leading to the Divide there's a room just up the steps with a busted roof and there is a chest that spawns on one of the broken bits of overhanging roof. I never looked up there, but one day I heard the sound and was able to locate it after some investigation. Now I always listen when I'm going through there and don't have to look. I'll just hear it on my way through.

There is a simple solution for the farming problem: just let me buy materials with Vanguard Marks and Crucible Marks.
Since the vendors never refresh their inventory, I can already care less about Vanguard Marks, and probably will care less about Crucible Marks in the near future as well. Why not make these currencies more useful?
Since these marks are capped on a weekly basis, they can' be abused, so that's not a problem.

That makes perfect sense, especially since you can already trade the resources for marks (plus rep and glimmer), why not the other way around? I would think it would be much more expensive than what they will pay you for your resources, though. (They gotta make a profit somehow, right?)

And materials for people who comolete public events who have hit the Vanguard Mark cap. Once you hit the cap there is no point in doing public events and it is easy to hit the cap with Nightfall, Weekly Heroic and Daily Story Missions all giving Vanguard Marks.
