This week's nightfall is interesting: besides the always "Epic" and "Nightfall" modifiers, the other 3 are Solar/Arc/Void burns (The target is the most notorious strike boss - Omnigul)
I believe this will make the enemy stronger because any damage from them will be painful. On the bright side, there are no angry / lightswitch / juggler, so melee as well as flinch weapons are going to be a lot more effective. Another good thing is that we can use different burns on primary and special to match the shield of enemies. For heavy we can just pick whatever is our most favorite.
The weekly is easy: solar burn.

Arc hits hard even if it doesn't have a burn modifier.

Lots of wizards with solar shields, however there are also captains, knights and Omnigul herself that are all arc. It will definitely be dangerous, but with maximum versatility it should also make guardians pretty lethal.

This Nightfall is what the Abyss Defiant was built for. It gives huge bonuses for hitting wizards and Hive majors/Knights. Pretty much, a solar/Arc combo weapon.

I got the oversoul edict with the same damage to hive majors... but it's barely leveled. Should I do the weekly later than soon and level it up to hit the hive harder?

If you don't have any other arc/solar/void primary weapons, you should definitely use it. Even unleveled it does 300 damage, and that arc burn can carry you pretty far, especially in NIghtfall. In weekly it is still very useful due to the large number of enemies with arc shield.

Yea, it's the only arc primary I have. I have the VOG AR one and no solar primary (which are there, btw?)
I'm thinking of a OSEdict primary for arc, icebreaker for solar, and my new arc mg to punch the shit outta things

Otherwise it's a great plan.

And: don't forget to bring your Murmur to complement your Ice Breaker. More often than not you need a CQC weapon...

With arc burn Murmur just melts Omnigul's shields. I'd prolly run Murmur for most of the raid except for the 4 or so wizards just before the showdown with Omnigul. Ice Breaker prolly best for those.

Omnigul strike has 3 stages:
stage 1 is to clean the room full of fallens then hives. FR and Shotty are better secondaries in this phase. Also, without Lightswitch melee may actually be an effective option, especially for Weekly (thralls with arc claws = nothing in a solar burn non-lightswitch world);
stage 2 is to fight fallen armies out in the open, while being mindful about the pesky shanks spawning behind you at the worst moments. FR is great for taking care of the enemies near the door, then it is SR time to take out enemies at the far side;
stage 3 is final showdown with Omnigul and her army of minions/majors/ultras. SR+RL combo for minor/major bosses, primary weapon + Ice Breaker to take out minions.

In that final room SR definitely great for those knights, but I usually prefer FR on Omnigul herself, but then I didn't have a decent arc sniper before.

Mega burn is on again for this week's Nightfall. Weekly = Void burn.

IMHO mega burn is harder. Players (who have all elemental primaries) only need one kind of burn, it's the enemies who need all the help they can get.
That said, Archon "the bubble head" Priest is the weakest strike boss. Take your favorite sniper rifle to shoot him dead without him firing back while nodding in approval. Black Hammer = best pony. For weekly, I have a rerolled Iron Banner void Efrideet's Spear itching for action. It is the hardest hitting SR in the game with more impact than Ice Breaker.
Word of Crota void hand cannon should also be great, every 3 precision shots return 1 bullet to the mag, so the mag size is boosted from 12 to 17 if everyone of them is a crit (which is trivial on Arkon).

It definitely makes it interesting. But it also means no juggler and other modifiers. While it makes the big flashy attacks do a lot more damage those are also the ones I usually find fairly easy to learn to avoid. The NF could go either way. And I guess the void burn on the weekly doesn't help with the boss, but it definitely makes it much easier to get to him.

Remember though.... if it burns when we use it, it'll burn us too.
too bad about the void though; it is my weakest sniper rifle. But it'll still hurt the bugger.
Let's run the weekly @ 30 so I can practice the cheese spot before we do the nightfall?

Sure if you want, though fireborn + cheese probably means odds of dumping to orbit aren't too high. Though having to save supers for revive kinda sucks. (Honestly I wish we could separate the revive and super somehow, but that would be OP on a subclass that's already extremely versatile.)

Oh hell yes. Ice Breaker all night long for NF. I'll prolly run void or arc heavy for something good vs shields, but IB can just manmode through them. Plus if we really get to the point of needing to switch there should be tons of special ammo laying around since Ice Breaker doesn't pick it up. It takes most of the pain out of switching.

Do the Nightfall first. The additional bonus you get from having completed the Nightfall when you do the weekly is pretty big.

Yeah, the bonus would be nice. Maybe just run the strike vanilla if we really need a dry run. I think we can hack it, though. We went into the last one with just the two of us and no plan and really other than the one wipe at the start everything but Omnigul herself went pretty fast, and she was just a grind with lots of reviving.

I am not, it is taco night, I don't expect to be on at all. I'm sure there will be a lot of people going after the Crota stuff tonight, but they'll probably be doing Hard mode.

hmmmm Now what build to go for... Voidfang is more for PvP or solo (grenades after revive or respawn zerg rushing). Starfire is a cool guy for putting damage on a boss. Claws buff melee, but prolly don't need that for the NF. I've also got the gloves that boost solar grenades though. So far toss up between starfire for DPS and the other ones for zoning.
For the weekly mebbe I should run voidbro for the burn... but kinda want to focus on making orbs which might go better as a sunbro with claws...

Right, loot Tuesday:
Run 1: Patience & Time Run 2: Legendary Engram decrypted to the Calling (FWC scout rifle) that has Luck in the Chamber, Flared Magwell and Firefly - no rush to get the Saterienne Rapier I guess although I'm missing Outlaw. Run 3: Universal Remote
Seems Venus is still my best destination for Nightfall drops.

Once we get to the boss, you're going to be sniping the $hit out of him with me on the cliff. The main thing we have to worry about is getting there. Honestly... the boss fight (to me) will be the easiest part of the nightfall because our dueling icebreakers headshotting him all day long will take care of that. The nexus' right before the boss will be more difficult, imho

I know sunbros can make orbs with melee, but what about voidbros? I can't look at voidwalker skills right now and am less familiar with the subclass. Also I don'thave obsidian mind and I haven't finished my bad juju bounty so that way ain't happening. I could just stick with sunsinger, use the claws and melee the crap out of things plus go ham on it for kills when I do pop my super, that should generate lots of orbs and I can make radiance reduce teammates cooldowns. Thinking more for weekly, but if I can run a heavy support role then the two of you murder everything with supers... which should help replenish my own super... well that's just swell! ;3 Hell maybe even run firebolt grenades instead of the usual solars or fusion... hmm...
For NF I definitely think I should run a more defensive build.
