- As always, Rare Supply Drops guarantee at least one Rare or better item.
- Opening a Rare Supply Drop now has slightly better odds of receiving Legendary and Epic items than the equivalent of opening three Common Supply Drops.
- Guaranteed to receive a bonus reward with each Rare Supply Drop.
- Rare Supply Drops now guarantee at least one item related to Specialists or Weapons including the following:
- Specialists
- Specialist Themes
- Taunts
- Gestures
[li]Weapons[/li] - Melee Weapons
- Cosmetic Attachment Variants
- Reticles
- Camos

Now people are playing for the stupid things and they are animated and all sorts of ridiculous crap. I guess what I'm getting at is: Before camo was just a texture. Now its part of the game. Before when you see a player you might say something about them achieving a gold M21, at most. Now you think about their shiny, totally random, camo - and want it for yourself. It's not really maturity. It's just not being appealed to a game because of flashy things. For the same reason a certain directors movies are put down for being full of explosions, the same can be said for a game where guns have animated camos. Now, if the gun models and animations were exceptionally detailed, that would actually be cool. I agree completly, and having served in the USMC I like when a weapon had some thought put into its creation, especially if it looks tactical. Glowing / bright camos ruin that. No one would ever go into combat with a neon weapon... I take this way too seriously lol.

You do. It's a game. Military background makes no difference. I dont see what this has to do with being serious. One thing is for sure though, and it's that this isnt CoD anymore, aside from being an FPS. It hit me now why this is so stupid, and not about maturity or anything else. You are all grinding for pointless virtual skins. I played CoD for years without ever grinding for a thing because, one, there wasnt really anything to grind for, and second - because the game was actually FUN and COMPETITIVE enough to keep things interesting day after day. What there was to grind for was at least not based on random luck of the draw, i.e. "get 100 headshots with X" actually required input on your end. If you're grinding for camos, you arent playing a game. It's more like one of those clicker games on the android/apple store. A time waster. And if anyone thinks or intends to say, "Well, playing a FPS is a stupid waste of time too!!! derp!" Yes, but it's actually got a purpose. Win. Whatever win is to you, be it k/d whoring or winning, or getting those 5 headshots you need, there's a reward for whatever you define to be winning. Getting a crate and having it be "dark matter" is not winning. Same as virtual slots. Yay, I won $10,000,000 virtually! What now? /rant

No one cares about any of the Black Market camos. They're just something to use until you get Gold/Diamond. All I care about is the taunts, and the wrench.
They're just a mechanic to be able to include microtransactions. Asasa, I get your point, but they're not actually changing the way people play the game like you're incinuating.

Asasa has a point though. The game isn't all about camos & emotes. It's about making dank tactical loitering montages & collecting hate mail.

Then we get third parties involved so we can start selling them for real world cash. Now you're a business owner of 12 years of age. Congratulations.

I don't think Asasa has a point at all, not to mention he contradicted himself.
On a 'merit/worth' level, I see no difference between grinding out challenges to unlock an in game reward (a camo) or trying to get a good score in a match. Both of these can be seen as a goals one can set for themselves and both are equally benign as they both involve playing the same game. Your 30/1 KD in that TDM game that lasted 8mins is equally as meaningless as that camo you earned only to be replaced by a 'better' one.
As you said, a 'win' is exactly what you decide it to be. You choose your own goal. Sure you can say other people's 'wins' are stupid but who gives a fvck because its their 'win' not yours.
Not to mention the entire prestiging system and camo unlocks is a player retention mechanism to begin with. It works because people enjoy having those goals to work towards, those progress bars to fill.
Now if you want to make an argument that the grinding unlock system is a disguise to cover up an otherwise mediocre game, well that's a whole other kettle of fish.

People love gambling. Casinos and the lottery exist because they're profitable. The dream of winning big is also romanticized in basically everything, whereas the opportunity cost of abstaining from gambling never even gets a passing mention, which is bad when it costs you money.
I can see the appeal from gaming developers to have mystique and wonder component for loot, rather than having a catalog like in previous Cod's like BO2. It is gambling versus shopping, and it puts people in a completely different mindset. As long as you don't need this bonus content, like in AW, there's no need for bellyaching. The price of a single Rare pack just happens to the same cost as a single pack in Hearthstone, which I find pretty funny. It should be cheaper considering this CoD is replaced by 3arch's next game in 3 years, but it is what it is.
