Debating whether to get this on the Flash Sale; looks like some solid tips upthread. Any bros here on PSN for this, or is it all Xbone?

bradman how did you get my wedding video.
I've noticed load times are pretty quick which is great, you don't get kicked out of the server while your on create a class page like you did in the first one which really used to annoy me, and up until yesterday I'd only been put into two games in progress but I got two yesterday which is still pretty good, as I'm half way through gen 2 now I don't know how many matches I've played but it's quite a few. Now for the bad, on most of the maps if you stray near the edge or walk by a bush you get a return to battle notice. Quite annoying when you're standing right in the middle of the map, now I don't remember getting them in the first one unless you ejected from your titan and went extremely high in the air and on top of a building. I suppose it's not that big of a problem though, maybe just me being picky.

This article is basically saying EA's marketing sucked very very bad vs. Microsoft, so much so that they can't even overcome the pre-release marketing hype generated 2.5 years ago.
CoD used to have XBox first for DLC in last gen and they turned that around pretty easily by switching to PS first this gen.
Also, EA's offensive is primarily about breaking CoD's player base, at an opportune time when the best out of 3 CoD studios had a release last year so the franchise is at its most vulnerable. They are willing to sacrifice Respawn and TF as a pawn to achieve that and so far you can say that strategy is working. Infinity Warfare's player population seems to be even worse than TF2, not to mention BF1. My friends' list used to be dominated by CoD activities this period every year, but this year it is almost 0.
EA care less about the sales and much more about stealing CoD players, and that's evident by their aggressive price discounting on TF2. No other games released in the fall have had an almost 50% price cut before Thanksgiving, no matter how underperforming the sales are.

That said, this does make fans worrisome about the franchise's future. Sounds like Respawn is not happy with EA but they are too small to have a voice, especially without strong sales. There is a possibility that we may not see TF3 in a foreseeable future.
At this point I am just hoping EA really means that when they say they are committed to TF2, the game needs more high quality DLCs and how much development efforts Respawn can put in totally depends on how much EA wants to pay the bill. I am worried that once the top brass at EA see CoD player base collapsed and consider job done, they pull the plug on TF2 investment and the game dies out even faster than TF1.

Yes, if I had purchased TF2, I'd be very worried about this, especially that interaction between Zampalla and the EA rep; to be public like that?
Unless there's a fountain of glowing reviews, I'd fear for the long term future of this franchise... but hey: I was wrong before

Respawn should have won best game direction for innovating/pushing the genre forward yet again (especially the "Effect and Cause" mission), and it would also be a good chance for TGA to subtly throw their support behind Respawn rethinking the DLC structure (no more fragmenting players via map packs)

Off topic on Overwatch: just won multiple rewards, lots of viewership on Twitch, Sale ongoing on XB1 market place, support competitive play which I strongly prefer over pub stomping (not because I am competitive in nature, but because I like playing with players that suck at the similar level, imho tight games are best way to have fun and improve), I am seriously thinking about picking up Overwatch.
Want to see what TF bros who also played Overwatch think of it?

Off topic on Overwatch: just won multiple rewards, lots of viewership on Twitch, Sale ongoing on XB1 market place, support competitive play which I strongly prefer over pub stomping (not because I am competitive in nature, but because I like playing with players that suck at the similar level, imho tight games are best way to have fun and improve), I am seriously thinking about picking up Overwatch. Want to see what TF bros who also played Overwatch think of it? Overwatch is fundamentally completely different game compared to titanfail 2 so you are in for one helluva shock. First of all, Overwatch has 23 heroes and everyone has different abilities. Compared to the measly 6 titans and pilots that have slight different tac, you need to learn the basics of every hero to even start playing properly. The heroes are purposefully divided into 4 classes and the team composition is extremely important in this aspect. Heroes compliment with each others and having a properly built team is the difference between losing and winning. The game is not that mechanically demanding unless you play Mccree, Genji, Tracer, Widowmaker or Ana. Tracer and Genji need a lot of practice with their moveset to be able to utilize them properly and the rest of the mentioned heroes need skillful aiming to be effective. And some heroes even prefer to avoid enemy contact and some heroes prefer getting shot by the enemy. The gameplay is different with each hero. The other big difference to titanfall is the importance of situational awareness. In Overwatch, situational awareness is probably most important skill because of, well, everything. You need to know where is each hero, what heroe's abilities are on cooldown (Extremely important when playing against eg. Roadhog), who is on low health, who's ultimates are charged etc. Since in OW, getting a kill in a 6 vs 6 battle means that the numerically inferior team is either forced to retreat or are killed most of the time. Small things matter a lot. It might feel overwhelming with the amount of info you are processing but you will get used to it. In titanfall 2, you have much less things to worry about IMO. If you do pick up Overwatch, which I highly recommend, start playing with quickplay and try to understand the flow of the game and what are each hero's strenghts and weaknesses. Just don't jump into Competitive mode the moment you hit level 25. OW competitive community is unfortunately quite toxic and you WILL get shit shoveled onto you because you are a new guy. A new guy usually means that they need to be carried and losing a game means that everyone's skill rank goes down which leads to hate towards the burden aka you unless you are naturally talented in the game and can pull your own weight. Continue to play QP until you think you have a good understanding of the game and know how to play one hero really well and have one backup hero you are decent at. You need to be flexible since teammates do not always allow you to DPS. Here's some general info links on OW. I'm sure you can dig up other stuff you want to know on your own. General infoCompetitive infoHeroes listThis is coming from a guy that loved titanfall 1 and is currently destroying in titanfall 2 with 80% winrate. On Overwatch side, I have invested ~150 hours into it and have played 2 competitive seasons + the current one at more or less diamond rank skill level.

Overwatch is like Last Titan Standing with 20 completely different Titans, some that can even maneuver like pilots. It's a blast to play, but it is a HUGELY team-oriented game. Your fun playing it alone (like I did) is extremely limited, the novelty wears off somehwat fast (though with so many heroes, there is a lot of depth to keep it fresh). But if you have a dedicated group of friends, it's probably the best shooter on the market right now.

Overwatch doesn't really sound like fun from that description... heh It sounds like work, and a lot of it. I think I'm skipping Overwatch. I never got into any of the moba's for similar reasons. Hell just watching the Overwatch stuff on Kotaku's highlight reel videos is confusing as hell. Honestly half the time I don't even know what I just watched. Maaayyybe if I had a dedicated crew, but I never have had so I'm just going to chuck that up to it's not for me.

I played Overwatch during its free weekend a few months ago, whilst it has the potential to be fun, it really isn't if you play games solo. Titanfall 2 on the other hand is usually fun solo, because you can often carry your team in the right gamemodes.

Thanks for all the info. Decided to get it anyway, mainly to complement TF2 TF2 has a great MP, but I can't help but worrying that the crowd may thin out within 3 months of release. It does not have ranked play yet and even when it does the player base won't be very into it. CTF could be very interesting from a competitive point of view, but largely unattractive to the casual community. TLS is in a similar situation as well. This is pretty evident with Respawn's treatment of these 2 game modes: CTF is on the second page and TLS got reduced to the lame ass best of 5.

Nah not alphabetically. Attrition or bounty hunt should be at the first place (or mixtape!). It is all in all the complete titanfall experience. (pilots, titans, AI)

Personally I feel like Attrition first then probably mixtape followed by the main game types. But definitely all on one page and it should remember the last mode you played so you can just repeat.
It might be cool to feature bonus credits or something from time to time in specific modes and rotate them to encourage players to experiment. Just a small bonus and maybe only a once a day kinda thing like networks. No need to punish players if they just want to play what they like.
