So the review embargo ended this morning, early returns show a strong 87 per Metacritic. Battlefield 1 is sitting on an 89 right now on its top platforms. EA is coming at you hard COD, I sure hope the IW campaign is better than the multiplayer beta. |

O,o I wouldn't really call Titanfall a console shooter. I played it on PC and it really didn't suffer any more consolitus than any other modern shooter and less than most. It was a very solid PC FPS and actually plays better with mouse and keyboard than a controller, (like all real FPS games should... ;p ...though even more so due to the verticality and movement system of the game). It was pretty well optimized for PC as well. I didn't have any horrendous performance issues with it. I'm very much looking forward to Titanfall 2 on PC as well. |

The MW2 backlash has a long tail. I fully expect the PC version to be a bit of a ghost town after a few months again. But until then I'll enjoy some 1440p gsync action, and it's definitely where I'll do my (first?) campaign playthrough.

There were definitely some balance issues that never got fixed because IW imploded, but MW2 is my all time favorite CoD. (There have also been several nice iterative improvements since, but you can't fault the game simply for not having things that it's successors had.) At any rate. I figure the online community for Titanfall 2 probably won't be huge after a few months, particularly on PC, but it should have enough for me to find games and that's all I really care about. Hell I don't even care if I'm playing people that speak English, I'm just going to disable voice anyway. The only time I use voice is with friends and I never use the in game voice. I guess some of the niche modes will be unplayable, but again I don't care. I bet I could still find games of attrition even now for the first one. Plus with having SP this time and not being XB exclusive on consoles and the fact that it's not a brand new IP nobody knows that'a a little short on content, I have hopes that the player base will stick around better than the first time even if there is a bit more competition from CoD and BF. |

They are really pushing that new Bounty Hunter, putting it at the top of the game mode list. Really unfortunate, because that mode sucks humongous balls, I figured out that it is the reason I did not fully enjoy the beta. They really REALLY need to put the mosh pit at the top of the list - ALL shooter games need to do this. Gears of War does it and it is incredible, you actually get to play different game modes all day!
Especially considering that, as you guys are pointing out, the player population could die down fairly quickly on PC. The last thing you want is people playing that shit Bounty Hunter as the primary mode - that will turn them right off this game. And putting Attrition up top isn't a super good solution (I mean, it's probably the best game mode aside from CTF, and very noob friendly, but VARIETY is the key to longevity), then we just have the first game over again....

I personally really liked bounty hunter. Players seem to forget the money you are carying is only half the money you earn, and even if you die, you only lose half of that (so only 1/4). Unless I had like 700+, I would just run around running and gunning. While others were tactical loitering with 200+, hampering their score.
I think it is a really great team based game. It is like a combination between MVP, capture the flag and attrition. You have to protect the guy in your team who has most munny.
edit: any idea when this game releases, as in time? Is it midnight? And if so, midnight where?

It is the only game type apart from attrition where AI filling has an influence on the team score I believe. I think (hope) other playlists do have AI, but for the sole purpose to fill up the battlefield and speed up your titan timer etc)

Most countdowns I can find say in 13 hours, so that is midnight local for me (Netherlands).

Yeah, generally it's midnight local time. Though in the US it's all midnight EDT, so 9pm for me. There are VPN shenanigans you can pull to unlock early, but I think that only works on EA Origin, and I'm waiting on a physical copy there so that doesn't do me much good.

Yeah I read about the VPN stuff, don't think it will work on console though, and even then, I only have one hour or so tonight to chill/game, so I will just wait for tomorrow. Might take a couple of hours of work to have an early weekend though  |

So looks like Respawn is saying no paid DLC or season pass to split the community. All content will be available to everybody. I was afraid things might go more CoD shaped this time. Might hurt their bottom line a bit, but that should help keep the community together.

So i've been playing MP for around 2 hours now
Titans feel a lot more vulnerable this time around, which is actually something I like (even if that whole battery system is clunky). Makes titan battles less of a race of which team has more on the field the fastest, and you can actually totally outplay another titan by your own
if hanzo used to shoot trunks in overwatch, we shoot motherFoxtroting freighters in this one. Holy shit some of the titan weapons are generous (for PC)
the energy rocket launcher is swell. Game is urban-esque tribes with that gun
