Old Russia, Earth Omnigul, the mastermind of Crota's armies, nests in the Cosmodrome. Eliminate this horror and purge its spawn.

Modifiers

Epic - Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers.
Arc Burn - Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.
Small Arms - Primary Weapon damage is favored.
Grounded - Players take more damage while airborne.
Ironclad - More enemies have shields.

Changes to Matchmaking Settings on 12/08/2016

Today the development team is making a few changes to Matchmaking settings with the goal of improving your experiences in the Crucible. Here is a quote straight from the team with some details about what is being changed.

We’ve made a change to the Matchmaking system in an effort to increase match quality. Our specific goal is to reduce the number of matches that begin before they fill up with players. To achieve this, we are expanding the available skill-range for other players earlier and more aggressively. We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching. This may result in slightly longer matchmaking times in some cases. For some of you, this could mean that you’ll be matched with opponents well outside of your skill range. We hope the tradeoff is worth it to improve the Crucible ecosystem in general.
As always, our work in designing a Crucible experience that serves all players is never finished. Be sure to let us know what you experience out there. Our forum, just like our game, is a constant source of great feedback.

These changes are now live in all playlists. After you play some games with the new settings, feel free to post in this thread with any feedback you have. Let us know what you think.

Well, it is certainly strong with SBMM with SRL from what I have read. Doesn't bother me but Bungie are as transparent and honest as FIFA.

Edit: Still takes me 3-4 to find a match of Rift. Matchmaking is pretty bad.

So are you saying that the figures of people playing Destiny on tracking sites could be erroneous? I mean, I can find a game quicker for COD4 than some games in Destiny. Thing is, I would like to know how many people are in each playlist when i load up the game but games published by Activision have not done this since COD Ghosts. If MW2 was backwards compatible, I would just play that.

You wanted to know why Rift is dead, I told you why Rift is dead: the week before was IB where everyone and their dog was playing rift, so everyone's rifted out.

Matchmaking on Destiny is fine for strikes, PoE and major PvP types for me. The more "esoteric" PvP types take longer, they do on any version of CoD as well.

Yes but should it take significantly longer than a Nightfall strike? Both are exotic chances, although I only do the Shaxx bounties to try and get a Party Crasher or Matador with an improved roll on what I already have. Supremacy is quite quick to do its Shaxx bounty so I usually do that and wait for the others when Iron Banner coincides with one of the other Shaxx bounties.

I am the same sometimes, but the content lull has meant everyone I play with have splintered off to different games while I am waiting to see if any Christmas deals come up for a game or two. I used to play PvP the most during House of Wolves. I'd even play strikes for a few hours but the Skeleton Key cap is annoying and the only time I will use them is on the Taken version of Winter's Run, which is not a common strike to play. I have no idea if excess Skeleton Keys go to the Postmaster if I have five in my inventory.

It's hard to find a game of Rift right now because the rewards for SRL are much better.

The Shaxx bounties take longer than a Nightfall to complete but can be done solo and you get strange coins or 3oC far less often, plus you get 7 post-match rewards.

There isn't that much extra to do. I don't mind Shaxx bounties taking longer than PvE Nightfalls but I don't think the post-game rewards are *that* good to justify it. Ended up getting a better rolled Matador to the two I already have from SRL anyway - Aggressive Ballistics, Performance Bonus, Reinforced Barrel, and Final Round. It is possible that SRL is more popular than I realise because people are spamming it for drops and rep. I was intending to do that myself but I can't have long gaming sessions like I used to. :/

3oC might be sought after as a reward if Xur is going to not sell them again.
