With faction rallies returning tomorrow for the first time in Season 2, we're gonna go through the old and new weapons that are worth it for each faction. Shaders are preference, armor stat rolls will be re-rollable with the masterworks update in 2 weeks which leaves weapons as the main factor for joining a faction.
Heres a list of all the weapons worth mentioning and/or grinding for this faction rally. Next to their name and weapon type I've listed whether or not the weapon is for PVE or PVP (the weapons can be used for either or, but they are only statistically superior in one, Stochastic Variable for example is amazing for PVP but trash tier for PVE).
There are other weapons from each faction not mentioned here that can indeed do damage and you might like but keep in mind those weapons are either outclassed by something already available or just straight up trash. Im not saying you cant do well with these weapons, but I am saying you could be doing better by using something superior.
If you read through these weapon descriptions and you think to yourself "I already have a weapon for this exact purpose" then that means you dont necessarily need to invest in that faction. This list is more for the people looking for a straight up list of "what is the best faction rally weapons" or "where can i get a good sniper rifle" etc.
Future War Cult:
Stochastic Variable (SMG) PVP
Also known as the monster that will murder non-believers of the mightiest cult, this is arguably the best weapon from the entire faction rally. Right now the best SMG in the game is Antiope-D because of its consistent damage over range thanks to it being in the 600 archetype. The Stochastic Variable has phase mag which turns it from 900 RPM to 600 RPM. Because of its stats and perks it is the best SMG in the entire game for the energy slot (with phosphorus MG4 being close second) and opens up your Kinetic Slot for weapons like MIDA or the upcoming Orimunds Anvil. Its not better than the Antiope-D, but its closest thing to it in the energy slot.
The Number (Auto Rifle) PVE
Currently the highest sustained DPS 450 energy auto rifle in the game. Its arguably the best 450 AR for boss damage with the high magazine capacity and high impact reserves perk. Beats Positive Outlook and Uriels in terms of sustained DPS (PO is better for add clearing, Uriels is better for pvp).
Heart Of Time (Pulse Rifle) PVP
The only competitive pulse rifle archetype in pvp right now is the highest rate of fire sort (540 rpm) and for them to reach their maximum effectiveness you're gonna want 2 energy counterbalance mods (1 on arms and 1 on legs for Titan/Warlock, 1 on arms and 1 on class item for Hunter). This will make the recoil completely vertical with next to no side-to-side kick and it'll feel a lot like D1 pulse rifles in their prime (Grasp of Malok, Clever Dragon, Hawksaw etc.). This gun is arguable just a worse version of Darkest Before (although slightly less recoil) but its the only other pulse rifle in the energy slot currently. Although Time Worn Spire and Autumn Wind are good they cant get 2 counterbalance mods unless you are using a hunter.
Pleiades Corrector (Scout Rifle) PVP
Same archetype as MIDA, Manannananannananann, Eternal Blazon etc. The 200 RPM scouts are still competitive and this one is worth a mention because of its perks that shine in pvp. Rampage can make some targets (given specific resilience stat) take one less shot and high caliber rounds while nerfed still helps slightly. Its very bouncy recoil but if you like 200 RPM energy scouts you'll probably like this one too. Opens up for using Antiope-D in your kinetic slot.
New Monarchy:
Maxim XI (Sniper Rifle) PVP
This sniper rifle is incredibly unique, it has two scope options which gives the sniper reticle no "bobbing" while moving when ADS. You know how in Destiny 1 when you where scoped down with a sniper and moving left to right and the reticle was perfectly still where you pointed it? Its like that, and for the 5 other people who play Destiny 2 and use a sniper in PVP this is one of the best snipers for you.
Adverse Possession IX (Scout Rifle) PVP
For pvp, some people really like using 180 scouts (Tone Patrol, Metronome, Tango-45, Nameless Midnight). They have a very slow time to kill, but shine at longer ranges and sight lines because of their low recoil and high damage over range. This scout from New Monarchy has good stats similar to the scouts listed above, but has one of the best PVP perks in the entire game: Moving Target. This perks makes you move faster while ADS and greatly increases Aim Assist and hitboxes on enemy targets. Effectively makes it easier to strafe as well as hit headshots.
Dead Orbit:
Guiding Star (Auto Rifle) PVE
You like using Valakadyn and Perseverence in PVE? They are part of the highest rate of fire archetype auto rifles and have a buttload of ammo in reserve as well as very high sustained DPS because of their quick reload when the mag is empty. They are good at boss damage and taking out high health pool slow moving targets. The Guiding Star is to date the only weapon in the Kinetic Slot that is part of this illusive archetype and if you want to open up your energy slot for something special while still using a Valakadyn this is the weapon for you. It does 10% more damage to unshielded targets compared to the Valakadyn, but it has worse base stats. Its not super amazing but its worth mentioning because its a weapon that is unique within its slot.
TL;DR As always FWC has the best stuff man
