Hello everyone, I have a few questions to ask about recoil in call of duty. My first question is why do some guns have a more consistent and predictable recoil that is generally 95% the same every time, while others have a random and unpredictable recoil that sometimes it's only upwards(vertical with no horizontal), but sometimes it's upwards and to the right/left(vertical + horizontal) on the same gun. What combination of center speed and viewkick stats makes a gun recoil(verb) predictably and consistently and what makes it recoil absolutely randomly and unpredictably, with many different patterns? An excellent example would be the Volkssturmgewehr(Volk) and stg44 in CoD WW2, both recoil only upwards, but the stg44 tends to go completely crazy midway through the magazine, while the Volk keeps on firing mostly upwards, but the thing is that the Volk technically has a lot more recoil than the stg44. Volk: imgur.com/a/2kvYMSTG44: imgur.com/a/x8RIGAnother great example of randomness would be between two CoD games, MW3 and BO2, the g36c and m27 have the same centerspeed and same horizontal recoil values, yet the g36c virtually does NOT kick sideways/horizontal, while the m27 kicks more sideways? My second question is what is that Min-Mag stat that has appeared since BO2 in the viewkick stats, what does it stand for and what does it do/mean? My last question is about a CoD recoil simulator. I've been searching for a software that you can input the recoil values and rate of fire and it would do simulate recoil, pretty self-explanatory.

It would stand to reason that the higher the difference in pitch and yaw values, the less consistent the recoil will be. But I'm a scrubadub when it comes to these things. Probaddie's our local recoil savant if you'd like to message him.
Min Mag is minimum magnitude. It represents the absolute value that recoil per bullet must be at or above. That's probably the largest reason why the M27 kicks like it does in comparison, considering MW3 didn't have it.

theres a thread about recoil with the op being a massive post detailing everything about recoil, im surprised it isnt stickied. im sure probaddie made it but youll have to dig for it. he hasnt been around these here parts for a year or two so i doubt hell respond

What you see with each weapon is an emergent phenomenon that depends on the recoil model (how recoil is "simulated") and the parameters defined for each weapon in that model. And unfortunately, there's no simple way to relate exactly what those parameters do, as the model makes heavy use of physics concepts to produce the final effect you see. In short, it's not exactly intuitive how changing even a single parameter affects the behavior of any given weapon, except in a broad qualitative sense (e.g., increasing adsViewKickCenterSpeed improves viewport recovery between shots). So, as much as I'd like to be able to point to a single variable and say "that's why you're seeing what you see", I really can't. I recommend you read this: Recoil Explanation. It's a bit technical and not entirely up-to-date, so feel free to ask me questions if you have any.
