Second, if we end up doing Domination let's develop some real tactics about who is assigned to attack and defend what. Here is how you do domination. 2 guys scav/OMA,CB and sitrep hang back, take A/C defend it with claymores and defensive positions. You can venture away from it, but not so far that they can cap it. Everybody else, silenced SMG marathon, lightweight, whatever... and take B. Tactical insertions? Switch to a more defensive class next time you die. Hold those two positions with no more than one person at a time venturing into there spawn, game over. If you are having no problems, you can have one guy with big killstreaks not play the objective so air support can keep them busy. Also, having almost everyone running predator missiles is a great way to keep them constantly locked down. How can you mention Domination strategy and not mention the Skill Cannon? Seriously, if you're defending, one thing i've found which is really good is to not even be in line of sight of the flag, just watch for the HUD image of the flag to start blinking. Less reliable is listening for the 'we're losing A/B/C." Then come around the corner, tube them, then hide somewhere else. It makes it nearly impossible for a single person to cap, or you'll get them so paranoid they need to spend 30 seconds checking every possible hiding space before they even try. Communication helps with that, you need to let your team know whether the flag is safe or whether you need help once they hear the 'we're losing...' message. I'll probably make a blast shield class for being that one guy making suicide missions into their spawn to force them to keep defenders back. I also like smoke grenades for capping. Predator missiles sound good, I also like precision airstrikes. You could probably blanket two nodes with the right map. No suggestion for a 'fun' class for everyone?

Everyone run LMGs to piss them off, or RPG/thumper/AT4 only? Glocks only? shotguns only?
I can't be there, but I hope you have fun.

It's time once again. This Saturday 10pm ET, 9pm CT, 8pm MT, 7pm PT We've done the all Riot Shield, we've done all Scrambler. Taking suggestions for a class/perk/whatever that everybody needs to adopt one match. My suggestion is everybody runs Scavenger and Smoke Grenade and throws the Smoke Grenade as far as they can in a random direction every time they pick one up. Two things... First, I'd like to really improve our communication. If you get killed, say where and how many tangos. Especially if you get sniped from somewhere. Second, if we end up doing Domination let's develop some real tactics about who is assigned to attack and defend what. Don't just be off on your own worried about your K/D, let's get that warm fuzzy feeling of working together. I also might be out of town next week, don't know yet. I might take my XBOX with me anyway. If I'm feeling like a real sonuvabitch, I'll break out my Riot Shield/C4/OMA class and handle flag defense. Toss a C4 on the flag, park myself in a corner, hide behind my shield, detonate C4 when an enemy walks by. After that, it becomes a fun game to see if any enemy can manage to navigate my shield and kill me in the tenth of a second it takes me to blow the C4. As for theme classes... I'd love to do a full team of OMA Tubers on one of the epic tube maps (especially Terminal) in order to inspire some honest-to-goodness mouthbreathing rage. Also, on a more serious note, I would really love to have a night where everyone runs nothing but Cold Blooded in their perk2 slot, all night long. Not as a "theme match", but as an actual team-wide strategy. There is nothing more disheartening for an enemy team than discovering that literally every single one of their killstreak rewards is 100% useless (unless they happen to be running CUAV... which, of course, they won't be). Plus, if everyone is Cold Blooded, there's never any reason to bother with an AA class. Just let the air support helplessly circle the map until the timer expires.

I'd really like to take part in one of these, but being a UKer, the times are a little inconvenient. Would it be possible that a future one could be done a little earlier? I am often on in the early hours anyway, at the weekends.
Thanks either way!

My only concern, however, is the latency. The first time i put this on, Chellovek joined us, and he was from across the pond. He ended up getting dropped from the lobby a lot. And the times he did get in with us, it seemed like one or the other of us was lagging terribly. We only have that one datapoint though, so it could have just been bad luck/bad day/bad connection. I'm willing to set it up earlier to give it a try if you want (how earlier do you need?). It might end up though that we just need to set up two times to go to war, one for USA and one for UK.

Thanks for the quick response! Well, I can (and usually do) play from midnight GMT till about 3 or 4 in the morning. I'm guessing that midnight here is about 7 PM Eastern Time? I could probably do tonight from about midnight till 2, if you're willing and able to change, but again, if that's not a possibility, don't worry! Since we're going for wins and not K/D, I'm not worried at all about playing on a two-bar. I've played with friends from the USA and Canada before and it's been fine getting into games: I guess the only way to find out is to give it a go! Thanks again!

If I'm reading the time zone map correctly, you're right, midnight your time is 7pm ET.
I don't think it's fair/appropriate to reschedule tonight's meet up, since people might be counting on it being at the same time as last week. I also don't know yet whether I can make it at 7pm myself which is another issue. And I have plans tomorrow.
Private message me with a time that's right for you and the two of us will get together and see how well the connection works.

I'll try and get on with you guys tonight. I sent a message last week but I believe I spelled your Xbox Gamertag wrong You know, I get so many spam messages from people offering prestige rooms that I have been deleting messages without listening to them if i don't recognize the name. Sorry if I did that to you. I just tried to Send Friend Request to nimrod6134, it says it doesn't exist. what's your tag? Sorry we missed you tonight. Speaking of tonight, it was a lot of fun. We had 6 people and did pretty well. +12 on the night I believe in mostly Ground War. Some people wanted to do Search and Destroy, so I'm thinking of setting that up for next weekend. I didn't want to do it tonight because it was a spur of the moment thing and some people had reservations. Rather than start another thread, please post here if you're serious about Search and Destroy as well as if you have any tips. I've only played it once, I distinctly remember hiding in the bushes. We have a week before next Saturday, I'd like to get people who want to commit to showing up and get some strategy in place. From what I hear about SnD, we're gonna need to bring our A games.

Alright. That's absolutely fine. I'll message you when I'm next on. Thanks! Haven't forgotten about you, just had some people really interested in SnD tonight and I'd really like to get that set up. Let's get together and see how things work. Maybe I'll add a 7pm ET time, then we can play for 1-2 hours, then take a break before the SnD. Or something on Sunday earlier in the day.

Edit: My accuracy for the night was 11.33%, which was a big step up from last night, where I had a pathetic 5.73% accuracy. Of course, last night I was playing HC, which automatically drops accuracy (you don't get multiple hits per target to boost your percentages). Also, oddly enough, the lower my accuracy is recently, the higher my k/d ratio. I think it has to do with being more aggressive and worrying more about making sure I'm the first person to shoot in any encounter.

Hmm, I thought I was +12, I must have been +2 (dumped out of a game early that someone got dropped from the lobby, and there was another game that it put me on the wrong team). I was just going by the wins/losses, I must have misread an 8 for a 9 at the start of the night. Then once you start playing it all becomes a blur. My fault. Still not a bad night considering the losses came against that Afghan cliff-campfest, and 2 were at the end of the night when we were down to 2-3 people.

Thanks for the invite last night, had a lot of fun playing with a new group of people. I would have liked to stay on later, just got a bit tired.
If I get a chance to practice up some SnD I might be interested next week, we'll see.

I'd like to try SnD sometime. On the Afghan campfest... I got an assist with my predator which looked like I was gonna get 4 kills which would have gotten to my precision airstrike... which would have worked wonders.

By the way, if I am around for the SnD, I might be able to help with tactics. I play in a Gamebattles team and we've played SnD (and Dom as well, actually) against some of the top European teams on the ladder. On CoD4, we actually beat the 2nd ranked EU team in a 3 v 3 Dom on District. I'm not claiming to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I think I might have some advice that could help if you're going for the win.

Cool, out of curiosity, what's your GB team name? I suck at MW2 search. EDIT: Oh and on a side note, do you think you could be on at about 9:00 your time tomorrow? (tomorrow as in 2/22/10)

Hey guys. I set this up to be just some semi-casual weekly thing because I want to group with up people who actually care about this and do well. I want to win, but I'm not looking to rock the world of MW2 or anything.
Last Saturday someone was really excited about Search and Destroy, but some people weren't up to it so I didn't want to do it right away. I've only done it once, and all I know about it is that it's something people take really seriously (like don't join a random SnD unless you are prepared to be yelled at).
So first, if you're interested in doing SnD, I need you to sign up and say you're gonna be there. This doesn't seem like the kind of thing we want to do randomly or with only half a group. If it isn't coming together by like Wednesday, I'm probably gonna scrap SnD and change it back to just a regular night of TDM / Dom / Ground War, because while I'm all about doing new things, i don't want to alienate the people who have been doing this most every week if they're not interested.
Basically, what I'd really like is for people to communicate back to me. If you really enjoy getting together, say what day and time you prefer and what formats you prefer. Say what times you can't make it. I'm up for doing multiple things, like a regular bunch of matches at 7pm and a SnD at 10pm, but I have to know what to set up before I can set it up.
Just as important really, if this kind of thing doesn't appeal to you, why doesn't it appeal to you? Too serious? Not serious enough? Would rather play CoD4? Whatever.
I know people would rather just play the game than talk about playing the game, but it would really help to get some feedback here. Please take a minute or two and share your thoughts.
Thanks.
Edit: Highlighting the important bit for the wall of text impaired.
Edit: Also just want to clarify that I'm not asking people to sign up for the regular thing, I'll just invite whoever is on. It's only for SnD that I'd like to make sure we have a full group.

Okay, well, to clarify my position, I'd very much like to do 7 to about 10 or 11 (ET) on Saturday (or Friday I can do as well). I probably enjoy objective gamemodes over purely kill-based gamemodes. More than happy to play SnD if need be, and I think I can contribute to tactics as well.

I'd like to play SnD, but I don't really have some magic time that works for me... If you come up with a time (for example this sat. 10pm ET), I can say whether or not I'll make it. Since the example is currently the case, I will say that I can do it until 12:00.
I don't play much SnD so i can't say I'll be great, but I'm pretty good at standard gametypes and I'm interested, so...

-I really enjoy getting together. -I usually try to get off around 11 central on fridays and saturdays. So before then either day is preferred. -I like both formats so whatever happens I'm happy. I dislike h.ardcore, but not so much that I would refuse to play it if others want to.
So if SnD is saturday at 9c (as it says it is), I will sign up to do it. But I will be getting off at 11c.

Lol, i wasn't replying to you, but to everybody in general. I'm also paraphrasing Steven Seagal from Above The Law to give you an idea of how serious I was about my little threat there.
Seriously though. I'm glad you replied, I would like more people to do the same. I've been playing a lot of mercenary TDM and it's getting kind of boring. I like winning and all, but at the end of the match it's just a number. There's no communication, no tactics, no banter.
I'm trying to get people together and it's actually been pretty successful. Part of me thinks maybe I shouldn't rock the boat if I'm getting 4, 6 or even 8 people sometimes. But I really would like feedback, not just from the people who have been coming, but the people who haven't been, especially if a different day/time/format would make you interested.
Also, unless 2-3 more people say they definitely want to do SnD this weekend, I'm gonna change it back to just a regular night.

Very much enjoyed the TDM I played with you guys earlier. Was a lot of fun, and the connection was alright, as long as I was assaulting or sniping (subbing failed a bit). Still very much up for a bigger party and objective gametypes as well!
Should have the microphone sorted soon, but I can't guarantee a date right now. Sorry!

I'd prefer TDM to S&D, although I'd be up for S&D if we get a couple of experience players who want to give it a go.
I generally get on every night at 10 CST and I'm always up for anything on any night. If you guys want to do something at a different time, let me know so I can reserve the TV for that time.
