Hi all,
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm cancelling the dedicated Search and Destroy evening. There just doesn't seem to be as much interest in it as we need there to be.
I'm also changing the time to 7pm ET 6pm CT 5pm MT 4pm PT. Had a couple people say that 10pm was too late, others that didn't care either way, and only one so far say that 7 was "a little early but probably ok for now". Anyway, it's Thursday morning so I need to go ahead and make the change at least for this week so that the word gets out in time before Saturday. The time isn't set in stone by any means, and I'm looking into maybe 8pm as a compromise time.
Remember that unless we're doing some dedicated SnD thing, that this is still casual, at 7pm I'm going to invite whoever is on. Feel free to come late or only stay as long as you want.
I'm still open to doing SnD and I would like to try it 1-2 matches at least if people are open to it. I'm not going to force it though, or dedicate a block of time to it unless I see some definite interest from 5-6 people. Sorry to disappoint those who were looking forward to it, but it's going to have to wait for the future.
As always, I welcome all feedback.

SCB: I think that you should make a gamertag for all the XBL Den players. This would simplify inviting people. And new people could just add that gamertag to get in on the action.
Just a thought.

I wouldn't be able to see their clantag until they were already invited for the game. That being said, a person's motto is open to all their friends to see, and i was thinking tonight that I might change mine to something like "feel free to invite me to your game" but i don't even know if that would fit. You don't get a lot of characters for that. I've always said that someone only needs to send me a message like 'k' or 'inv' or whatever if they want to get in. My friends list is getting long and complicated with friends and friends of friends, and there's a bunch of people on it who only play HCTDM, so approaching me is probably the way to go. Please don't anyone feel slighted if I haven't sent you an invite.

I enjoyed S&D despite playing pretty poorly (I'll blame it on playing less than two hours in the past week), the guys who were there were really good, so me sucking didn't seem to matter too much (except for a couple of notable exceptions... sorry).

I would consider tonight a resounding success. About 8 of us rotated in and out as people got on and offline. We played roughly 60 games which consisted mostly of SnD, TDM, and a couple demo games. We lost twice and reeled of 28 in a row at one point. I totally want to do that more often

Yep. Very much enjoyed playing with all you guys last night and looking forward to doing the same at 7ET (or 12 GMT, my time ) tonight! The connection can be a bit tricky for me, especially as I'm usually 2-barring while you guys are on 4 or 3, but if I keep my distance and stick to the FAMAS it's usually alright.

Yeah, yesterday went really well. Search and Destroy was a lot of fun, it seems like a really interesting format.
I'm also excited to hear that you guys are practicing it today. Sorry I can't join you. My headset broke midway through the matches.so I need to head out and get another one. I would like to hear about some strategies though. I know we had a riot shielder taking the bomb every time, I wasn't about to touch that thing. At first I was actually playing it like it was Demolition and tactical loitering one of the objective rooms.
And if we're playing tonight I gotta rest up. I can only take one 7-hour session per day. Yeah yeah, I know, what a weakling.

scb, I should be good for about an hour and a half from 7 EST on. I'll be on earlier than that too, but I won't be on from like 8:30ish to 12.

After a hellish trip to Target and (ugh) GameStop, I finally got a new headset. I'm gonna charge it until the last second, but I should be able to talk...I hope.
It seems like there's a lot of interest, so I hope to have a good turnout. 6 people or less, we'll do whatever. 6-9, Ground War. Any more than that (a man can dream, can't he?) then we'll kill the shit out of each other in any random format. We might not get any win streaks, but on the bright side, we'd get matches to start very quickly if we switch formats because we'll only need a few randoms to fill in.
Add me as a friend (SugarCopperBlue) and send me a quick message for an invite if you don't get one right away.

Tonight was a good time. We got up to 10 people...sorta. ssog ended up leaving to eat dinner to make room for someone else (thank you for that). The limit of a party is 8, the limit of ground war is 9, so it's just kind of really awkward.
We started off with a private match, shotgun only in Rust with double health. That was a lot of fun. We ended up doing ground war and then tried Mosh Pit, which was ok except for that I think Sabotage is the dumbest format ever. We eventually won, but defending a bomb you're planting in a building that happens to be the building the enemy spawns in is just horrible. At least there's a 7 second delay before respawn. I don't think it helped that it was Highrise so snipers could shoot in at bomb carriers.
We finally settled on Search and Destroy (a format I'm really enjoying), and I want to apologize to ssog who wasn't feeling like playing that when he came back from dinner. I'd rather have switched the format instead of making anyone uncomfortable, especially after he made that sacrifice by leaving.
That goes for everybody, if you're not comfortable with a format, speak up. Though I do appreciate playing with all you guys (especially since you're all better than me), a lot of people seem like they have a lot of friends already and play everyday. I started this out when I didn't have anybody to play with, and even though I have a lot of online friends now, I really want this to be a gateway into team play for people who don't have a lot of friends yet.
In other words, all are welcome. And if we get 10 or more again, I'd really like to take it to a private match where we can all have a lot of fun without worrying about randoms or kids cursing up the room.
So again, a quest for feedback here. What did people think of the new time? I'm thinking it was a little bit early for me. I had a feeling I'd play all night, and I'm sure my girlfriend didn't really mind (she was playing The Sims), it still felt like I was blocking out a huge chunk of time. On the bright side though, I got to play for 6 hours without it being 4 in the morning, so that's a plus.
Thanks to all that joined us. Sorry that Palest Blue and whoever else were having the connection problems they were having. That seemed to be a common complaint for some reason but it was especially bad for him.

Unfortunately I had to leave quite early. And I can't express how sorry I am about the kid who joined our game via my game in progress and just sweared excessively and talked about mass riot shield games...

awwweesome night. Between playing with the OXI clan and fellow Denizens, I'm on a new 43 win streak and counting. Bunch of kids we played S&D against couldn't stand that we were constantly raping them and threatened to hack my account. sore losers. i did send an email to MS though to not honor any password recovery requests

On the bright side though, I got to play for 6 hours without it being 4 in the morning, so that's a plus. Don't sweat it. Normally I'd be up for Search, but I was just looking for a quick nightcap and wanted to stick to something a bit more familiar. No sense uprooting the entire group for a 2-3 game nightcap. I'm a big fan of private rooms. My clan used to do them all the time for CoD4, and it's nice because you can get a really good mix of maps and gametypes. It's also nice because you can do some fun stuff without worrying about whether your k/d or w/l are going to hell. As for thoughts on time... yeah, 6 PM CST is too early for my tastes. Either I eat at 5 PM like a retired person (hah!) and tell my wife she has to entertain herself for 4 hours before she goes to bed (double hah!), or else I can only get in an hour or two of gametime before I have to take off, and then I come back 2 hours later. 7 CST works better, and 8 CST works even better still. If we start at 8 Central.

It really is on and off. I think most east-coast hosts give me a three bar (when you host, Scb, my connection is fine), but of course it's near impossible to guarantee that. I definitely enjoyed the games I did play with you guys, and I'm sorry that you all had to keep backing out to pick me up when I didn't make it in! Sounds like everyone had a good night, with no losses! That's superb.
Just gotta get rid of that ocean...

I like a 6 or 7 central start... I don't do too well with mixing up my sleep schedule, so whatever time you do it I'll be getting off around 11 central.
I also think private matches have a lot of potential, done some of those and they've been a ton of fun.

Start time is totally unimportant to me... really whatever works best for the CST people is fine. My only concern is that it is quite tough to play with Palest Blue due to that geographical mass that separates us, and the huge time difference. If scb can host, and he can join (and tolerate the potential lag) that would be the way to go

Haha! I don't mind not playing if it causes too many problems with time, connection, and the like. If Scb is ever hosting a private lobby, then that should be fine; but MW2's matchmaking is bad enough as it is, without an English person throwing a spanner into the works by playing with a load of Americans and Canadians.

DUDE
I used to do this in the good old days of cod4. One night we went on a 25 win streak in an hour. So awesome. The only thing is that we need at least 5 people to do this, but that shouldn't be to hard.
Vokain will be really good at this. He rushes like a pro.

I'd be up for it, too. No need to even make a new class- just use the default First Recon class. UMP, Marathon, Lightweight, Ninja, Magnum+TacKnife.
