Why is stopping power noob? I used it for a while with camoflage, but sometimes I changed back to SP, because sometimes they just didn't die without it... Steady aim is verry nice to have, because aiming down the side with shotguns makes your aim worse in fact... So I never aim down the side and steady aim then is very nice to have ;D

Sleight of Hand and Extreme Conditioning.
Steady Aim is not an entirely bad idea for shotguns, but it really isn't all that useful when Mobility would be more important. Useful for the Sawoff Double Barrel. Decreasing the spread gives you less (effective) area of effect and for everything except the Double, it will just require you to aim more precisely. It'll help in those "just in range" shots, though you could just juke while sprinting and move in closer.
Well... for consoles, go with Steady Aim.
Sleight of Hand is easily the best Perk for the shotgun, any of them. In fact, by holding down the reload button while firing the W1200 and Trenchgun overrides the RechamberTime and allows you to fire at nearly the same rate of fire while at the same time keeping your tube mag fully loaded. The M1014 also benefits from holding Reload and Attack with Sleight.

on the console, i find these setups work best for me:
W1200 Grip Juggernaut Extreme Conditioning
M1014 Bandolier/3x Stuns Sleight of Hand Steady Aim
I have tried many different setups with both of the COD4 shotguns and these are without a doubt the most useful and the ones that I get the best scores with.

The M1014 also benefits from holding Reload and Attack with Sleight. Wow. That's something new. Thx for the tips Den. Btw, I've participated in some local WGT tournament last year. While I was waiting for my (former) clan's turn, I've observed a pro clan beating the crap out of another newly formed clan (at that time). There was this guy who was so confident that his clan would win the match, that he switched his gun to W1200. This guy fired the pump shotty at almost the same firing rate as the M1014 -- with a different technique. Each time after he fires a shot, he double taps (no, it's not the perk) the "switch weapon" key to cancel off the rechamber time. It requires some practice though.

I don't think that was it... because if you switch weapons, after switching you still need to pump or bolt. On the xbox that is...

That's why there's a trick to it. If you switch around too fast, it'll still rechamber, but give it about .2 seconds and you can fire again while it is still in the transient RaiseTime animation.

Well, with the bolt actions that really is not true, because often I switch from my sniper to pistol when I hit him in the guts and kill him, and when I switch back, I still need to bolt. (and I always first reload my pistol...) Is there a difference between pump and bolt? or can this just be something on the xbox...

If you put on doubletap aswell and double tap switch weapon it fires slightly slower than a Semi auto shotty.
Also sort of off the topic. I modded my controller so that if I pressed one button it would fire doubletap y and repeat. Quite fun but its still not as effective as other guns.

Sleight of Hand + Double Barrel = Yeah, but in Doom the shotgun had range and accuracy. ;D I wonder when it all started to change... This guy fired the pump shotty at almost the same firing rate as the M1014 -- with a different technique. Each time after he fires a shot, he double taps (no, it's not the perk) the "switch weapon" key to cancel off the rechamber time. PC, right? You'd need one kind of crazy claw grip to do that on the consoles without losing control of your aiming stick. Or a mod. As far as I'm concerned, shotguns are only good for Overkill or showboating, either game. Although they were inexplicably balanced to be even worse in WaW, despite the larger maps. Heh, maybe it was a ploy to make people want the flamethrower more?

I honestly doubt it was RAM. I heard from a different site that it was just because it was decided that the textures looked dumb on these particular weapons. I can't say if it's true, but it makes more sense than running out of RAM - I expect there's at *least* 4GB on the consoles.

Heh, maybe it was a ploy to make people want the flamethrower more? The M1014 was actually a very powerful weapon in Softcore CoD4. It owned CQC more than any gun (only the Skorp came close). The trick was always to control the engagement and make sure you never gave more than a fleeting glimpse of yourself over a long sightline. Keep popping around corners, changing direction, constantly moving, and incessantly working yourself in close to the enemy. It was worthless on maps like Creek and Overgrown, but was incredible on maps like Chinatown, Shipment, and Vacant. Whenever I played Chinatown, I owned the center square with an M1014, some Claymores, and an iron fist.

^reduces kick from the recoil
I made a shotgun tips video the other day (on the 360, Den's SoH trick is pretty impossible to make use of due to the controller layout), the tips are pretty basic but I figured I'd post it anyway

The trick can also be done with the first shell, an alternative for consoles.
When you empty the gun, it will reload on its own. By holding down the attack button after spending the last shell, the weapon will fire "automatically" once the first round is loaded and at the same brisk pace as holding down reload manually.

Try 512MB of shared RAM and video memory on both 360 and PS3. But keep in mind that consoles don't have background tasks to run like PCs, and games are optimized for consoles.

For COD4
W1200-Don't use grip Any first perk (I prefer claymore) juggernaut extreme conditioning/dead silence
M1014-Don't use grip Bandoleer/Any 1st perk juggernaut/slight of hand ec/ds/steady aim
COD5
Trench Gun-Don't use grip, use bayonet Bouncing Betties/Bomb Squad Juggernaut, Stopping Power of Sleight of Hand Extreme Conditioning/Dead silence/ steady aim
Double Barreled- don't saw-off, but it you really have to, use steady aim BB's/BS Jugg or Sleight of Hand Steady Aim for saw-off, ec/ds if not.

Betty's on a shotgun class? That is just G@y, like the silenced MP 40/camo/betty class some campers use... Those peaple should just go to the shop and buy another game and go and fuck up that one. Butt well, maybe you use your betty's for another purpose, so please explain yourself, how do you use betty's on a shotgun class?
