just like you can go on a killstreak in Halo for example, but you dont get the REWARD.... you can go on a deathstreak, it doesnt mean you have to get a 4th "perk" for it... it is just a streak of dying without killing.... ppl forget that are two different things

Did anyone notice the title "Comeback: Recovered from a deathstreak." at about 1:05 in this video? I wasn't aware that deathstreaks would be in this game. That sucks. they confirmed, no deathstreak perk

Here is the second of six promotional trailers, we can likely expect the others to debut in the weeks before release to give the gaming press something to talk about. :12 We see the WA and the first list of sniper rifle attachments: - Extended Mags
- ACOG
- IR Scope
- Suppressor
- Variable Zoom
Variable zoom as an attachment eliminates the possibility of Scout Pro enabling the effect as I had predicted earlier. We also see that you can toggle basic stats including accuracy, headshots and K:D in the customization screens. :13 Ten class slots, however, users can copy any class with a touch of a button. Five pages of titles with twelve listed per page sums to sixty titles. At 1:37 we observe the emblem possibilities: 324 (12 x 27). :14 Arctic Spetsnaz Ghillie, notice the noncamouflaged legs. Non arctic NVA and SOG variants at :16 and :22. Also it appears that tactical mask has no visual representation. On the other hand it appears as though the avatar has the ballistic knives across his chest. Urban black ops ghillie at :24 it's naturally without the foliage mimicry and instead relies of olive and muted colors as well as softening the hard edges of his silhouette. It looks understated, practical and smart. :15 Flamethrower attached FAMAS, note how the attachment sticks out past the barrel. Looks like C4 visible on his chest. :31 Forty reticule options, by the end we've been shown most if not all the facial camo options. 1:07 Post match screen confirmed return of what seem to more robust accolades and quantitative data renamed as "Combat awards" as well showing your nemeses. Appears the player here earns about 10% (447/47) of there total experience as codpoints. 1:10 Stinger analogue called the "Strela-3" appears for the first time. The M72 Law appears to be analogous to the AT4 as it supports free fire as well as vehicle lock on. 1:30 Handful of camo schemes on a reflex sighted MAC10, including gold. Given the customization options on offer this could mean it will be an expansion on COD4's gold camo to allow you to put it any primary weapon rather than one arbitrary weapon per class. 1:51 Akimbo horse. 1:59 Action shot of a bright red FAMAS. 2:01-2 Debuts a new, possibly South American, themed map with. The shot with what looks like an IR M60 reminded me of the cave opening in the trench cave on the old Creek map but with enhanced cloud, sun and lens flare.

Should this and the info thread be merged?
Seems logical to me.

We've known that there are a handful of weapons in each category and the final weapon, G11 for example in the AR category, requires all the others to be unlocked before you can buy it. I believe the assault rifles and SMGs have been largely identified and documented but user MILKYDIAMONDS has identified the fourth sniper rifle as the PSG-1. The others include the L96, WA2000 and Dragunov.

Does anyone else feel like I do towards BlackOps - i.e. hardly gives a hoot? ...I remember being SUPER ULTRA MEGA excited for MW2's release! But BOps just isn't making me care what-so-ever

I'm trying to not get excited, but theater mode and the offline training mode thing both are making that difficult

I was getting pretty interested in it, but I find my interest kinda waning. While Halo:Reach is sounding more interesting to me. Especially considering Reach has it's own sort of theater mode and it allows you to have videos rendered by Bungie, so you can share them on the internet without the need for a video capture card at all.
I'd still like to play BO, but I think for me it'll have only a few months worth of interest with maybe another short spurt after a long break... *shrugs*

Is anyone planning on renting a server here or am I going to be the unwitting guarantor of the unofficial Hey Den server?

Think all of us here where burned by the hype and exitement about Mw2 so we are way more cautious about Black Ops.

I am pretty excited for the game to come out (I am on 360 FYI). I think its going to be a huge improvement over mw2 in terms of gameplay and hopefully balance. I feel like mw2 was a great game as a whole, but there were a lot of small problems that were just annoying. I think Treyarch will do a good job of correcting those small issues and improving the gameplay (or I should say I HOPE).
I think the wager mode will be alot of fun (I love playing under pressure to perform beyond my K/D ratio), as long as they dont let it turn into a camp fest (I heard that radar is always on?? is that true, if so it should help alot).

Am I the only one expecting Scout Pro to increase damage on snipers like Stopping Power would have?

That's possible. If the damage design is based on the same old 1.5/1.1 thing.
Since we know what the four rifles are now, it would be easy to... well actually, they're all very similar weapons; it would be improbable to guess right on which would do what.
Dragunov - The automatic with a default 10 round magazine, so it could take the place of the rapid rifle that only gets One-Shots to the head like the M21.
WA2000 - Six round mag, it might be a clone of its MW2 iteration and the COD4 Dragunov. No benefit from the damage increase Perk, though the upper body is a One-Shot.
PSG-1 - A 5 round mag? Given its real reputation, it might be the weak yet most accurate one, and the Dragunov/WA2000 will be similar middle guns... they could default the PSG-1 with its 20 round mag or give it 10 for the hell of it.
L96A1 - The big ol' bolt action popularized by CounterStrike. Full torso kill, the new poster child of shoddy close range sniper montages.
There could be other things, like IdleAmount. The PSG1 could be the "accurate" one, Dragunov and WA2000 with the usual 40 idle and L96 being the only powerful one (also the only bolt action) moving around the most as one would expect.
That could cause a schism if one of the other perks has "Faster ADS". If Scout increased damage, and Steady Aim (or Sleight of Hand) halved ADS, it would prevent those "QU!KSC0P3Z" from being wholly effective, since the biggest reason they work so much is that console Aim Assist on ADS targets the center of mass, the LowerTorso.

Sounds like an effect so specific it would make more sense as an attachment than a perk, besides, removing stopping power overtly but reintroducing it to sniper rifles alone is begging the question: why? Since ARs have access to dual mags that supposedly enhance reload time as well as sleight of hand, perhaps the pro effect will be that scenario or reverse: a perk with a limited attachment effect. The sniper attachments don't lend themselves to it in dramatic ways but who knows. It will probably be subtle as the merits of a sniper rifle are already sound and powerful, maybe claymore delay to reward the adventurous "scout". This wiki has some more (speculative) grist.

multiplayer is multiplayer... No way the gangs in Brazilian Favela's have access to harriers and nukes either... Nor are your weapons limited based on whether you're playing as US, Japanese, Russian, or German soldiers in W@W.
For multiplayer that sort of thing is simply ignored, because the players want access to all the junk, and nobody really cares what side they are playing in a multiplayer game aside from where they'll spawn and what kind of stupid red hats or whatever they might be wearing visually.

Talking about Sleight of Hand for "QU!KSC0P3Z", the ADS bonus doesn't work for snipers, or so the rumours say.
Which should reduce the amount of [x|QS]xxiizz3L173x5C0P3Zzziixx who relied heavily on that perk to be so cool.
I don't have a problem with quickscoping, I have a problem with railgunners... If you get rushed on, yeah fine qs is the best option but if you're doing it beyond that it doesn't make you 1337...

In this trailer, sixteen seconds in, the man in the foreground is totally Robert McNamara. How awesome is that?

Seems that Treyarch are mimicing alot of Movie Stars in this game, Robert McNamara, Bruce Willis, wouldn' be surprised if there was even Chris Tucker in Black Ops! Be hard to chorograph that into the game though, video game characters now 'a' days are always Tuff White Dudes with voices deeper then Barry White blazed as a burnt cucumber and with hair so sturdy and strong that it can outlast Hugh Hefner on 2 bottles of viagra...
Sometime's I wonder...

leaked vid: Not much new info, just showing some gameplay. The RC Car looks almost impossible to shoot when it's going after you. 1:22 Shows what may be the effects of Nova gas grenade, not unlike the Tabun gas grenade from WaW--notice how it strips the core UI elements: map, killfeed as well as equipment and ammo HUD. It doesn't seem to cripple player movement to the extent stuns do in MW2, the effects seem to be more focused on the camera rather than the player. 2:39 Even SMGS have FAMAS like rail sights. (I'm looking forward to a gun with clean and spartan irons, RDS just seems like it takes up too much of the screen for very little benefit and the reflex is an unknown quantity.) 3:36 Attack heli instant kill? Hard to tell if it's attack parameters are now disproportionately aggressive, relative to MW2, in general or if it shot the player down almost instantly after being shot at as an incidental matter.

Also a few more things. All equipment can be picked up and reset (Claymores included). And players in Second Chance can be revived by any teammate, with or without the perk on.

Haven't seen the rest but this one has some new insights. There are two announcer cues related to the RC-XD, the first alerts you that a hostile RC has been launched, the second warns you one is near. There is a 100 point reward for destroying it as well ("Road rage"). The 9 kill chopper gunner seemingly has no reload or cooldown on its MG and it does designate enemy players with red braces, it seems to behave like AC130 imaging in that newly spawned players don't immediately show up but gradually begin to glow. You also earn what may be a fixed amount of cod points on leveling up, I believe the value was 1000. Stun grenades detonation sounds more satisfyingly explosive and thunderous. For a build without scavenger, he is carrying an MP5 what seems a relatively high amount of ammo: 45/135. Does this suggest ammo sharing with his M1911 or just a reflection of higher base ammo counts? Lastly, virtually no recoil on the MP5 or the Galil.

From what I understand, in Black Ops, you get a default of 3 extra mags instead of 2 like in previous games. It makes scavenger a lot less important in my opinion, I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
