Destiny doesn't seem to have shields where it makes it clear that you drop the shields with body shots then finish with a headshot so people aren't going for it like they would in halo. Most people playing are probably cod players that aren't used to going for headshots otherwise.
Destiny has shields. The first two bars indicate shields while the last indicate health. And you can still get critical hits on an enemy even if their shields are up.
Sorry, should've specified. Destiny. Watching lots of Destiny Crucible footage. No one seems to really be focused on headshots.
That's not what I observed. I watched some Twitch streaming as well as a handful of YouTube videos, and it seems to me that everybody thinks that head shots are important. One thing seems to be fairly certain: once the shield is depleted, head shots can significantly reduce the number of bullets to kill.
Given the wide range of opinions on this topic, it's either too early to tell, or head shots are important but not critical. We will see when more players get their hands on the game, especially when Halo players are playing against CoD players.

Will there be stats dropped for Destiny like with CoD and Titanfall?
Sadly Destiny is not available on PC, so it would be next to impossible to get accurate stats like what we have been spoiled with for CoD and Titanfall.
Im not saying in the same fashion as CoD or TF. With the massive amount of variation with weapons and gear it would be incredibly hard to get solid stats. I guess i'd be looking more for the static numbers that dont change. The attack will vary as you upgrade you weapon as will your health as you level up and add better gear.
1) Development cost is not anywhere near $500 million;
2) The IP belongs to Bungie, not ActiVision;
and most importantly (coming from COO):
Q: What safeguards are you putting in place to guarantee that service stays up day one and stays stable?
Pete Parsons: Part of it is we've had, for many months now, we've been actively had a build up, we pinged our data centre for the first time more than a year ago.
So we have been actively preparing. You made a great comment earlier, which is neither Bungie nor Activision do anything by halves. There's a reason why we've been doing, the reason why we have this Alpha today, the reason why these people are playing off the same data centre, if the internet goes down or a meteor hits our data centre, we're not playing on the floor today. There's no safeguards in place. We're playing on our thing and that's an active test for us. It's always scary and exciting and to put your work out in front of people who are judging it but it's also, it's scary to put it out there because you're testing whether it's going to work or not.
We take it super seriously and we've been planning for a long time, we've been investing into it to make sure that we have the best experience possible and I think we have to ultimately see what happens but we have every expectation of from moment one, having a great experience, and when things happen, whether it's with us or the internet, we have things in place. There's elegance in what we do so we have plenty of safeguards for this.

Wait, what? Is that English?
They've been testing on the actual servers to be used during the game's lifespan, not internal ones generally used for QA and the like.
Thank you for the translation. ;p I was guessing that's what he was getting at but just... wow. I've rarely seen anything as poorly communicated. I mean really, "...we're not playing on the floor today." What the heck does that mean? heh
Anyway, yay they're testing it! I think I also understand that they're doing all the testing on one datacenter rather than spreading it out, presumably to test capacity better. I dunno. Hard to get many details out of that other than, "we're doing our thing, be happy!". But it does come off as candid and not PR speak which is meaningless.

Quick notes regarding how Destiny class/subclass/loadout works:
1) 3 races - Human, Exo, Awoken: purely cosmetic
2) 3 classes - Warlock, Hunter, Titan. Each class has different "composite" of 3 traits: armor (Titan has the most), Recovery (Warlock has the most), and Agility (Hunter has the most). Each also their own unique vertical movements (Titan - jetpack, Warlock - glide, Hunter - double jump), melee, and grenade choices.
3) You create a character by choosing a race and a class. You can have create up to 3 characters.
4) Each class has several subclasses (2 revealed for each so far, not sure whether that's it or there are more), each subclass is defined by its "super" ability.
5) Loadout options for each subclass: grenade options, vertical movement options, melee options, and upgrades to grenades/movement/super/melee/traits. You can have multiple loadouts of each subclass, customized with different parameters.
6) Weapons & gears appear to be "orthogonal" to class/subclass/loadout setup mentioned above. They have their own sophisticated upgrade trees, and can be freely transferred among different characters you create.
7) Each character are equipped with 3 weapons at 3 slots, each with their own unique ammo;
Primary weapon slot (ammo availability: abundant): Auto Rifle, Pulse Rifle (burst fire), Scout Rifle (semi auto), Hand Cannon; Special weapon slot (ammo availability: medium): Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, Fusion Rifle (railgun style); Heavy weapon slot (ammo availability: rare): Heavy Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher;

PvE: Primary: abundant. But if you're more of the "stay back and longshot" kind of person, you'll run out of ammo quickly. Special: fair. You won't have issues finding green ammo, but don't rely on using just your special. Heavy: very rare. Save up these ammos for bosses. Normal enemies can drop them but it's pretty damn rare.
PvP: Primary: abundant. Special: abundant. You'll find multiple green ammo boxes scattered across each map. Heavy: rare, but time-slotted.

According to Cyberland, A user at NEOGAF has posted pictures of the Destiny PC version on the Steam Database. According to the Destiny PC steam database entry, the Destiny PC release date is tentatively set on March 2015.
This revelation comes after the fact that Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg has admitted that the company is looking into Destiny for PC.
In an interview with Polygon, Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg admitted that Destiny PC is a good idea and is it something that he considered as a good fit:
Yeah. I mean I don't even care that much about dialogue or story or voice acting or whatever as long as the gameplay is good but it's just so bad it kinda... forces you to focus on it.
Pretty much my only complaint, though. And even if they don't re-record, eh. Whatever. Still a great game.
For people who hate the voice, you will be happy to know that they will be updated for Beta, and updated again for the final game, based on the info from Bungie's weekly update:
Q. Hey, the Ghost dialog in the Alpha was totally final, right?
Hey, we read the same forums, my fictional, question formulating friend! In fact, the Ghost dialog has already been updated for Beta. It will be updated again for launch on September 9th, as well.
Funny thing about Alpha builds…they’re not done. Please pardon our Moon dust!
The last skill column before the "Illumination" lock reminds me of the gamechangers in borderlands. I'm excited to see what they are for the Titan's Defender and the Warlock's Firesinger.
