Or maybe they just took the feedback from Alpha and Beta that people hated the big maps. And people typically do. CoD Ghosts had bigger, more detailed maps, and overall consensus was dislike. Unless you do something creative to offset the size. Like adding gameplay elements to bring people to certain areas. CoDWaW did this very well years ago with the use of tanks. The biggest maps on that version of CoD, were some of the most fun. Especially on Dom. And TitanFall, huge huge maps, but the minions keep people centered into certain areas.

Or maybe they just took the feedback from Alpha and Beta that people hated the big maps. That's what happened? So we have plenty of players who like CQC maps but hate on shotguns being too prevalent? Am I reading this correctly? I'm not asking for Battlefield style maps but even some of the medium-large maps in the older instalments on COD are not exactly huge. A lot of my favourite maps are in that range so I don't know if I'm biased there (e.g. Grid and Strike). But then I noticed my feedback rating took a nose dive when I used shotguns in MW3, which is silly because I was pretty garbage with the Striker unless it was from my teammates, which I doubt.

They only tweaked the maps and changed which ones were in what playlists from beta to release. No complete overhauls. I think the main thing people complained about with the big maps was the vehicles.

You dont get new ammo uppon spawning. Reducing special so you often have to search for ammo if you want to use your special as primary, is good enough imo.

www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=12773Whew, that patch had more than expected. Some notable previously unmentioned ones: - Fixed a bug that caused a player to lose ammo when switching weapons while dead
- 4th Horseman weapon stats restored to original intended values (I don't have this weapon...can anybody that does say what changed?)
- White Nail perk no longer triggers on immune targets (NOOOOOOO)
- Fixed an issue introduced in 1.1.1 that allowed Ice Breaker to persist ammo after respawn
- Quest loot pyramid baubles are now easier to spot
- Fixed a bug where Heavy Ammo consumables were not available for purchase from Xûr
- Dust Palace: Reduced the number of Major combatants in the Psion Flayer fight
- Greatly reduced the weighting of Blind Watch and Firebase Delphi in Control, Iron Banner, and Inferno Control playlists
- Shores of Time: Added kill volume to the open edge of "A" cave in to keep players from hiding (what does this mean?)
And here are the details of the ammo changes: - Crates are now visible for all players long before they are available to pick up, with a countdown timer added to show when they will arrive
- Guardians no longer drop Special ammo on death
- Lowered the amount of Special ammo picked up from crates (from 50% to 25%)
- Special Ammo crate respawn time raised (from 45 seconds to 120 seconds)
- Increased drop radius when a friendly picks up a Special crate (from 20 meters to 100 meters)
- Slightly increased interaction time on Special Ammo crate (from 0.1 seconds to 0.8 seconds)
- Reduced the number of Special crates on the maps and relocated them (from 6-8 crates to 3-5 crates)
- Special and Heavy ammo bricks now despawn when a player dies or on a timer (20 seconds for Special, 30 seconds for Heavy)
- Heavy ammo now lets everyone know which player or Faction picked up ammo
- Increased warning time on Heavy ammo (from 10 seconds to 15 seconds)

Shores of Time: Added kill volume to the open edge of "A" cave in to keep players from hiding (what does this mean?) sounds like at the "A" control point there was a hiding spot to go AFK or something, and it will now either have a soft kill (4 seconds to turn back) or hard kill (like falling off the ledge at "B" control point) zone

Lots of interesting stuff found in the datafiles, here: www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/32l6cb/news_patch_112_complete_behindthescenes_patch/In addition to the reef social space, there's another on Mercury for Trials of Osiris called "Halls of Amentet" for up to 3 players. Bounties that required 10 spree medals now require 15 kills. 2 new gamemodes, "Ancient Relics" is Inferno Salvage, "Elimination" has no description, but has Party Size 1-3 and 6 max players, so it might be the new mode is 3v3 SnD.

Those special ammo changes sound very good! stealth buff to NLB Universal Remote And to Hand Cannons too I would guess. Glad I got the Thorn when I did. I will be locking that from sharding when my updates decide to complete. Some exotic bounties I'd be happy to do again but, judging from the patch notes, it's not worth the hassle to do another Thorn bounty because I'd be more a burden on my team since I don't play Rumble much. So me playing as a Warlock with a hand cannon, a sniper rifle and my melee have all ranges covered for combat. Just going to rub my hands if the Spear is on offer for the next Iron Banner because, apparently, Take a Knee gives 100% accuracy whilst hipfiring for sniper rifles. Sounds like an amusing counter to scope glare. Also, shouldn't the Universal Remote be buffed anyway given that it's a primary weapon?

So I played some Crucible last night, to see how these new changes would affect things. I played six games of control.
The results?
If this is the best Bungie can do, then it's pretty weak. The changes can best be described as marginal, like poking around at the edges. From what I saw, the effect on gameplay is almost nonexistent. Crucible is still nothing but shotguns, thorns, and a small mix of bad players sniping. All you hear is shotgun and thuds. It is noticeable having less ammo, but not that much. And if you are rushing with a shotgun, it doesn't really matter. One hit kills. You have six bullets, you are good to go for a cycle or two. Honestly, in many instances, if I timed the ammo boxes right, the changes weren't even noticeable. Maybe only like a few times over six games, I was actually out of shotty ammo, and had to use a primary exclusively. So pretty much, Bungie's changes didn't do much to gameplay. Crouchwalking shotgunners everywhere.

Crouchwalking shotgunners everywhere. As an unrepentant Felwinter's Lie abuser, that's about what I expected. 5 or 6 shots is really all you need for 3-4 kills, then you die or grab more ammo. The only way they're going to stop shotgunners is to nerf them into oblivion or make the maps more open to make shotties a lot less practical. Of course, that'll probably have the side effect of increasing sniper rifle usage, which isn't exactly an improvement either.

If I play Crucible for whatever things I need (I remade a new Titan, so I do need some stuff there)... I pretty much ONLY use the Felwinter. Like I run around with that ready to fire, always, every second. That's all one needs. No real aiming is needed. No skill is needed. If the lag Gods are on your side, you are guaranteed an easy 15 to 20 kills. It's like idiot FPS'ing. 'boom', 'boom' and 'boom'.
I think it's dumb, but what is one to do? This is what Crucible has become. A mostly one gun type of game.

Makes you wonder why they haven't tested a mode with less health/increased damage. If other guns kill you quicker, shotguns would be less prevalent.

I would say this... this isn't a single map right now, that I can't traverse across using the shotgun, completely protected while keeping all opponents in my shotgun range.

Seems like they swapped the rewards quite a bit. I did a "Kill Target" one this morning and only got 2 vanguard marks.

Marko... srsly... stop sharding exotics you don't have extra copies of. You don't need the extra exotic shards that badly.

So with 'marked enemies' that can teleport most of the distance of their track, and being a burden on heavy ammo like the Minotaur in The Buried City, we have this? I'd even defend the Warsat in Scablands and the Hellmouth over some of the kill target ones.

I dunno, I think I've only done the kill target events in the Hellmouth, Rocketyards and the Citadel post-shotgun buff, but they've always gone down super quickly. A shotgun simply tears through them.

BTW, I was doing some bounties on the Dark Below last night, and it seemed like a lot more items (engrams, but also green items) were dropping than previously. Does someone else want to test?

I would agree with you. I am leveling up a new Titan these days, and the engrams have been dropping in bundles the last day or so. Like on a Roc Strike, i am getting like 4 to 5 pieces of armor & engrams.
