Not new. Saw a vid of a titan in Crucible who had a bubble on a CP and an enemy came in and took it over with the titan outside it. They danced at each other, then he quickly switched subclass and used a rocket on the guy. ;3

Not new -- it's been that way since release -- but it seems like a lot of people don't know about it.

So... anyone go on a locking spree?
For PSNbros, you don't have to do anything fancy, just R3 at the character screen... no reason to go into a weapon's details (aparently, people wasted hours on reddit not knowing this)

Went on a locking spree. The first gun I thought of to lock was Thorn but it never was my first gun I locked.

I'm definitely looking forward to my locking spree. heh Plus I can use it to lock items that I'm levelling up to break down. I often wind up with blues or even greens that I usually try to keep one item per slot to swap in for that, but when I gotta clean out my inventory sometimes I get in a hurry and dismantle them early. Locking them until I'm ready to dismantle them could be handy.

Not new -- it's been that way since release -- but it seems like a lot of people don't know about it. It is a hidden gem that every defender should know about. It is very common to misplace a bubble, or a well placed bubble that was no longer useful, people should know how to remove them

So I played some games of crucible this weekend, and the special ammo change is VERY notable! Not in all games, but in a few games, I didn't have shotgun ammo for about 3 minutes in a row! In other games I had no problem whatsoever with shotgun ammo. I don't know what the difference was, probably map design/luck. I guess when I ran out I didn't look at the special ammo spots enough, and maybe the other players in the game were special ammo greedy, I don't know. But if you want to use your shotgun as a primary, things have changed! That is for sure. You probably simply can't, but if you really really want to, your movement will be dictated by it a lot. I really don't understand how people can say nothing changed. I got 4 (four!) rounds out of a box.
120 seconds per box is a lifetime in a PvP game, giving you four rounds (~3-4 kills), with only three boxes on some maps! The fact that you can see ammo boxes clearly also makes them hotspots, like they should be. I really like the fact that you can see heavy/special ammo, as it lowers the "skill" gap between hardened crucible players, and new crucible players.
All in all good changes, although there might have been a few more special ammo boxes per map if it was up to me!

Sounds like not enough players are defaulting to Hand Cannons for some reason then you don't have to worry about using a second weapon at all, a bit like Call of Duty and Battlefield really.

All in all good changes, although there might have been a few more special ammo boxes per map if it was up to me! I'll take that as a shot at me, as I remarked on the changes. I don't believe I ever said 'nothing has changed'. My point about the update was that I didn't feel it was THAT noticeable or material. I could still run around and use my shotgun as a primary. I also find the same experiences as you. There were some occasions where I simply ran out of shotgun ammo. Yeah, it happened. But not often. But most games, I played the same way. I didn't find it that hard finding special ammo boxes either on most maps. Most are in regular paths, so it's not really detouring that much to swing by a few feet and load up * You time it once or twice, you can be well over 12 shotgun bullets in a flash. That's more than enough for a while. You only need one shotgun shot per encounter. That's it. Most Destiny games, it seems like 3.5 to 4.0 encounters per min is the norm. You have 12 bullets, ...you are good for a long time. * I do feel like there is one map in the rotation, that is REALLY short of special ammo drops. I can't recall which one it is, but I remember being short, on the same map.

All in all good changes, although there might have been a few more special ammo boxes per map if it was up to me! I'll take that as a shot at me, as I remarked on the changes. You can, but you really shouldn't, I knew somebody posted that the changes didn't really change anything last week, I didn't recall who and didn't feel like searching for the post. I don't believe I ever said 'nothing has changed'. My point about the update was that I didn't feel it was THAT noticeable or material. I could still run around and use my shotgun as a primary. And my point is that you actually can't, unless you spend serious time looking for ammo boxes. Which reduces your SPM / time on objective. I also find the same experiences as you. There were some occasions where I simply ran out of shotgun ammo. Yeah, it happened. But not often. But most games, I played the same way. I personally think it has to do with map design. Some maps are so close quarter you barely use your primary I didn't find it that hard finding special ammo boxes either on most maps. Most are in regular paths, so it's not really detouring that much to swing by a few feet and load up * You time it once or twice, you can be well over 12 shotgun bullets in a flash. Remember that your teammates AND opponents can grab these boxes as well. I played this weekend, so maybe they were more adapted to the change and more special ammo greedy by the weekend. That's more than enough for a while. You only need one shotgun shot per encounter. That's it. Most Destiny games, it seems like 3.5 to 4.0 encounters per min is the norm. You have 12 bullets, ...you are good for a long time. 12 bullets? for that I need to pick up two boxes out of the 3-4 on the map... That means like 30 seconds of pure ammo hunting. That is allot in my book. Especially in objective game types.* I do feel like there is one map in the rotation, that is REALLY short of special ammo drops. I can't recall which one it is, but I remember being short, on the same map. For me, it was the new maps with all the doors. Couldron or something?

Most of the maps everything felt fine. Many of the maps I was double stacking special ammo, hitting up to 10+ bullets multiple times. But yeah, over the course of a few days of playing Crucible (I had to play to get some gear), i vaguely remember one or two maps where things were consistently short. I mostly attribute that to me missing an ammo crate on the loops i was running. If you miss just one, that can seriously throw off the timing to it all.
As far as using the shotty as a primary...well, i did. Can't say 100% of the time, but i still mostly used it as a primary.

I dunno. If you have to significantly tailor your routes in order to go full primary with shotgun that sounds profoundly exploitable in the metagame. Not saying it is or isn't enough, just another wrinkle. I'll play some more Crucible myself at some point. In fact I may take some Reddit advice and level up my Titan in Crucible instead of story and save the story mission XP for my exotics. Could be fun to play the story missions at level 20+ and get some nice weapon and armor XP for it instead of wasting that.

Then play a few Crucible games to stay ahead of the curve (you can get into crucible very early), so that you are always playing story missions on hard mode, plus a level or so above. If you do this at the same time, plus nab bounties, eris missions, plus public events at the same time, you will be at level 20 in no time. A few sessions tops. I've done this twice now. It's blazing fast.

I'm not all that concerned with hitting 20 as fast as possible and mixing PvP and PvE doesn't really work for me because the bounties have to compete for inventory space. I'm never going to play enough that I complete all my bounties every day and mixing and matching both kinds makes it harder to work multiple bounties simultaneously. Also every story mission I complete before level 20 is XP I could have applied to my level 20 arsenal of legendary and exotic weapons, but wasted instead. For me that's not trivial.
I probably will mix in some other activities, but I think most likely I will do PvE on my main here and there do to the odd weekly strike, and just do PvP on my Titan until he's level 20. Then I'll grab all the gear I've stored for him and hit those story missions hard. Sounds like a decent plan to me right now... but who knows. Could very well change my mind again. I actually look forward to the idea of focusing on PvP instead of only doing it here and there. I think it sounds like fun. We'll see... I might hate it with Titan. heh (I doubt it, though.)

Titan is the easiest character to influence (ie, win solo) PvP games with. Playing control. All you have to do is start putting up a few 45 second bubbles. If the other team can't counter it immediately, it allows your other teammates to go for the triple cap, and win the game each time.
My win rate playing solo is very high with the Titan. I'll toss out a guess of 70% to 80% of the games?

Update from /u/DeeJ_BNG:
Stand down, Guardians.
There will be some downtime this morning. And, yes, we are tinkering behind the scenes. No player-facing changes will go live today. Patch notes will land at a later date between now and May 19.
I'll provide more details when they're available.

That spawn locking issue in crucible is VERY annoying. I do hope that gets fixed.

Wonderful. Will download this patch by December. Good God man... I used to have a fibre optic connection years ago that I could download at 50Mb/s but my ISP, Virgin Media, was being stupid so I left them and they were the only fibre optic provider at the time where I live. It took them two weeks to send a technician over to connect me as their ISP provided modem stopped working and the technician didn't show up. I had my own modem I could connect but they don't allow equipment other than their own to connect to their own network and they thought I could wait ages again for another technician to come to my house just to pass me over a working modem, which I can do myself.
