For those of us that have them, I would like to know your opinions on how good they are please. Having played Borderlands 2 I know that rarity is not everything (Infinity, Unforgiven, Skullmasher, Pitchfork, Patriot) but I have seen the bonuses that they get and many of them interest me. Just a pity how much they all cost, 150 marks for a weapon etc.
What I like so far:
Doctor Nope (auto rifle) - radar stays active whilst ADS, bottom half of the mag deals bonus damage
The Swarm (machine gun) - kills with this weapon reduces the cooldown of the grenade, more accurate when fired for longer
A.1F19X-RYL (scout rifle) - precision kills cause the target to explode, last round in a magazine deals bonus damage
Some of the armour interest me but the ammo expansion bonuses don't specify how much more ammo you get for each. :/
Also, I understand legendary gear require consumables, such as Spin Metal, in order to upgrade them. How much is this?

I unlocked a legendary gauntlet last night, and it appears to have 5 "Upgrade Defense" levels. If I remember correctly, each one requires 16 Spirit Bloom, so 80 total.

I have not had a legendary or exotic. For a rare I have, I need "weapon parts" to upgrade one of the attribute.

Spirit Bloom I don't mind grinding for because I can farm them quicker than the rest, although 80 is fairly steep. I'm not at my console at the moment but I have just reached over 100 Vanguard Marks and I did think about buying armour first as they are cheaper but it is a question of value. Also, the two weapon ammo expansions usually mean I am only interested in one of them. For example, sniper rifles and shotguns I have not seen as a combination for legendary gear bonuses. It is either scout rifles and shotguns, or sniper rifles and hand cannons. I don't mind scout rifles as I got a good uncommon one, but the critical hit damage from sniper rifles are handy against big bosses. |

Armor pieces are important for reaching higher levels. Don't you want to get the task of reaching level 30 out of the way first, in case that there are activities that has a high level unlock requirement? On a related note: how does amount of Lights correlate to level? Raid gear might give even more light. I watched Datto's Raid live streaming at the end, besides the mission rewards (shader and ascendant material) he only got 1 piece of legendary armor Engram. |

Raid gear and ascendant material is distributed randomly throughout the raid. Also there are chests.
Some exotics suck, but beggers can't be choosers. I'm in love with my titan exotic. It buffs melee speed AND my force barrier... This lets me be a melee type boss punching support character spewing free orbs of light in my wake...never seen that in a game before.
IMO fantastic legendary armor like the raid set is MUCH better than getting a good exotic. Reason? You can equip 3 legendary pieces of armor and only 1 exotic. This is similar to having a limited list is a TCG.

I'm weighing up the benefit of getting armour against a weapon on how much they contribute to killing enemies. For example, Doctor Nope is an auto rifle that maxes standard damage to 300 that appeals to me in dealing with masses of minor enemies, such as Thrall, so I can dedicate machine gun usage towards bosses without expending heavy ammo synthesis packs too often. However, if using armour really makes that much of a difference instead of being an excuse to grind to make higher playlists manageable, then I will go with that. It's just a pity the ammo expansions of armour I like the most that I have found is for the Warlock (extra ammo for sniper rifles and auto rifles) and not the Hunter. I do usually favour armour but it depends how powerful weapons can be and, again, the armour doesn't say how much extra more ammo they grant so I will try and remember to test this if I get armour. I have 115 Vanguard Marks so far so I will probably try and rank up for the VoG but I doubt I will be ranked high enough when it is unlocked for me first. I'm also looking into the Vanguard playlist so I'm trying to make it easier for me. |

I just finished an exotic weapon bounty called A Dubious Task. The reward is a full auto solar shotgun called Invective. Not terribly effective in PvE, but it's an absolute monster in PvP. Most kills take 2-3 shots, and it can reach out pretty far if you can land all four since it gets bonus damage on the last round. Did I mention it regenerates ammo?

I figured so many people are after that because I get messages asking to team up for the Weekly mission if I am interested and then going on level 28 to get 9 Strange Couns, as if the easier options are not hard enough (boss levels have a huge difficulty spike, which is annoying when soloing). So my hours on end no life farming the loot cave was not in vain as I got a fair amount of Strange Coins from doing that. Edit: Dreg dropped a legendary engram whilst waiting for the Waljer in The Divide. Decrypted it and got an exotic helmet for my Titan. Goog job. Pity it is not for my Hunter since I use the exotic chest qrmour but nice to have options with multiple legendaries and exotics. |

Just watched somebody go through a single raid and get a complete set of raid gear in one go. The rest of the team (including me) raged so hard...
Do you know how lucky you have to be to do that lolol? The very first week there was literally only one level 30 in the world and he created 5 hunters for 5 raids in order to do so. This guy gets the requisite for level 30 in one go.

Raid gear is required to reach level thirty. They are legendary class armor pieces that have a higher maximum light level than legendary class armor pieces obtained anywhere else. Currently the only way to reach level thirty is fully upgraded raid boots, chest, helmet, and gloves. An exotic piece can replace the chest, helmet, or gloves.

Confirmed. However, I did the kill Riksis challenge with my Warlock with no legendaries (all blue armour) and it was pretty easy. You get a helmet and chest armour. Also, it knows what you got before so you will have one of each before getting dupes. For me this saved 185 Vanguard Marks so I have spent some on my new legendary sniper rifle.

Is the Comedian shotgun any good? The Vanguard Quartermaster is selling this in void element and I only have blue shotguns and the weekly strike mission has a mutator buffing void damage.

Not really. Imho shotguns are greatly outclassed by fusion and sniper in PvE. In PvP you want a shotgun with higher impact (new monarch sells a legendary one) or the invective if you want to spam lead. Comedian is outclassed by allot if you ask me (it is the only legendary I broke down without having a spare one, twice!)

Any recommendations on a good legendary shotgun for PvP? I have enough Vanguard or Crucible marks and rep with Vanguard, Crucible, and New Monarchy. I'll start grinding Dead Orbit or FWC if needed.
