Yes. Bungie confirmed in one of their weekly update articles that solo nightfalls were made slightly harder, while grouped nighfalls were made easier. I don't think solos were made THAT much harder -- if they were easy before they'll still be relatively easy, but if they were pretty tough before, they'll be a real struggle now. I think making it harder to solo is dumb. By going solo you already have made ut artifically harder by not being able to be revived, except Fireborn users. I thought the Sepiks Prime Nightfall was very noticeable for increased difficulty, but The Summoning Pits just means Phogoth is more of a bullet sponge that it will just be a tedious finger exercise for many. What's gonna work? Teamwork! What's gonna work? Teamwork!

Bungie already stated that making solo harder is UNDESIRABLE and they are looking into fix it: I was hoping that this will be fixed by a patch coming out this week that will also buff exotic weapons. That did not happen, probably because it is a short work week in US. Most likely the patch will come out next week because the week after has expansion pack 1 release and it is not a good idea to mix the two. BTW, wings: are you going to take advantage of Black Friday and finally upgrade to XONE? You really need to get some Raid action with us

I am not going with dumb randoms from the Tower that try to hulk smash everything in sight.

I don't think they made it all that much harder, and considering lots of people were finding it easy I don't think there's really a problem with it. It isn't technically supposed to be a solo activity, especially Nightfall. It's supposed to be more of a training wheels thing ramping up to Raid, I believe. It just happens to be doable solo and that was the best way to do it for so long that people got used to thinking that was just the way. Normally these missions force you into matchmaking, the only reason they don't is because they are weekly and nightfall versions which don't have matchmaking for the same reasons that the raid doesn't. That's not to say they shouldn't, just that's the way it is.
Personally I kinda like that it's possible to solo or duo them. I like playing these harder missions with Marko, but don't really want to deal with a random stranger that will have a 45% chance of being useless dead weight, a 45% chance of being some uber leveled badass that just leaves us behind and solo's nearly everything, and maybe 10% chance of being someone okay for us to play with, though we won't be able to talk to them unless we switch chat channels. meh Rather it be just us and we feel better about ourselves when we finally figure out a plan that works and mash the boss to glowy pulp.

Err the game explicitly states that solo play is catered for, no mention of being a prep for Raid from what I can tell. Nightfall is only easy solo because of cheese spots and limited AI programming.

Strike missions are usually not solo. The only strikes that don't force matchmaking are weekly and nightfall challenges, which are specifically harder. They were never really meant to be played solo, Bungie just doesn't stop us from playing them solo if we desire. It's pretty obvious that we're intended to play them with a fireteam. I don't think Bungie has an obligation to keep the solo difficulty at any given point considering. In fact we're probably lucky they do any difficulty scaling at all instead of just balancing them for a full 3 person fireteam and calling it a day.
Solo play is catered to... for story missions. Solo for weekly and nightfall strikes is more of a compromise Bungie made just to be nice to us.

Match-making for low lvl strikes... none for the harder versions. Because it's supposed to be a prep for the raid for which Destiny .... doesn't have any kind of match making. To see cheese spots as some kind of "Destiny" gift is a stretch. I'd call it bad programming to start with and if Bungie really wouldn't want to support solo strikes... they wouldn't have scaled health. 1 or 3 members... same health in all three versions (which exists only in almost every other MMO). Considering that Bungie already stated that it was an unwanted side effect, it's clear that they agree that people can solo them. To make them harder doesn't benefit anyone. Those having almost all exotics etc. can still do them and or don't even bother anymore. Those with limited access to maxed lvl weapons will struggle and the weekly can be done regardless since you don't go back to orbit like in Nightfall. Those new to the game won't even try.
On top of that... if I can't do everything except raiding solo... why would I bother getting more weapon/ upgrade these? Story missions don't even require legendary and Bungie doesn't need to teach people how to group/ communicate, they should however provide all necessary tools to allow for it.
Current version is as funny as trying to solo public events require to shoot down a single target with shield and teleport after some time and jump from 2/6 to 6/6.

Has Defend the Warsat been taking off from spawning in the Buried City? It is not listed on destinypublicevents and I have not seen it spawn since the 1.1 patch.

If there are bounties or I need materials I'll go on patrol in other places and since I'm there I try to chase the events, though they aren't as consistent as the Cosmodrome. I also appreciate the change of scenery.
Last night I did go to the moon for a bit as well, mostly because I was curious where that chest IW said he found down in one of the holes was, but I didn't find it.

I never stick to one area in the cosmodrome, but rather drift. Generally I'm chasing whichever event is up next, although I usually skip Skywatch or Rocketyard because those events don't always pop, it's often not convenient to get there, and the timing often doesn't work out. The Mothyards has been the most consistent area for events for me, it seems like those events almost always pop. But then since the recent public events patch they're all much more consistent. The walker in the Divide is probably my fav, though I still don't know all the chest locations as well as I do in other places. You don't get the events with the salvage crews there, which is kinda sad. Those are THE quickest and easiest to get gold as long as you have a RL and heavy ammo. ;3 I kinda like the warsat's, though. They sort of let you select your own difficulty. If you don't feel like much of a fight just stay in the circle and pick away at the mobs, but if you want a challenge kill each wave as quickly as you can to get tougher waves. Can be a lot of fun.

The cosmodrome is generally easier no matter where you go For example, when you stop the glimmer thieves, in the Cosmodrome, there's 3 waves... on the moon, it's 4.

For sure... that and the mothyards are almost guarantees It's too bad the one in the skywatch isn't as reliable, or Bungie doesn't make it better... off all the event farming I've done, never has it ever been done once there unless it was by accident or during a story mission. It's jsut too damn long and hard to get there, even if you're speed rushing and not killing anything

I've had less luck with the devil walker in the Divide in the past, but I think that was because I was sometimes the only person there and it wouldn't pop if there weren't enough people. Mothyard seems to pop even if I am alone. Skywatch seems to have people fairly often, but still isn't reliable. Rocketyard I dunno. I rarely bother trying, and I rarely see people there, it's kind of a pain in the arse because the only convenient area to get to from there is The Divide.
I don't stick with any one area for several reasons: A It's boring B Once I've done the event there I know it won't pop again for a while so I may as well go to another one C It doesn't take me long to exhaust the patrol missions that won't send me across the map so going to new areas gets me new missions
I do try to get back to the Devide in time for the walker as it's one of my favorite Cosmodrome events... but I do get distracted so I don't sweat it.
It's a real shame that Skywatch is so inconsistent and a bit of a pain to get to, because it's one of my favorite areas. It has the little room with either a knight or a Ogre under the helipad with a chest and dead ghost. I always like to visit this room. During beta I was with a group that figured out you could tease the knight and push him off the edge with your sparrow. We even dicked around with the Ogre for like a half hour (zerg rushing) and eventually pushed him off too. These days I can kill them outright. You also have the old loot cave for nostalgia. And every once in a while one of my favorite events in all of Destiny, when the Hive and Fallen decide to have an all out war with you caught in the middle. Good times! I have made it through the building from the Mothyards in both directions without getting off my sparrow, but only rarely.

I think skywatch and forgotten shore are less consistent because of those all out wars / dregs on piles respectively. Those seem to use(d) the same timers as public events, at least before the patch.
Mothyard + forgotten shore were and still are the best way to earn two public events in a row though

Really? I don't go to orbit chasing events. I just stick to whatever planet I'm on and sparrow around doing patrol missions and grinding out bounties. I love the public events, but not enough to got to orbit to shave a few minutes. There's always another one coming soon on world, especially in the cosmodrome. That's one reason I prefer Destinypublicevents.com's app over Destiny Timers. That and I find it easier to tell if it's counting down to the opening of the event window vs the close.

Question: Did redeeming the vanguard bounties ever have an expiry date before the update?
I am very very close to a new vanguard level, so instead of leveling it, I decided to save some bounties for the new update... buy a new weapon and give it half a dozen or so bounties worth of xp to give it a quick burst of xp. I did 4 on friday. On sunday, I thought I could get a few more. On sunday, the 4 I did on friday were gone.
Now, I have never been in a position where I wanted to save bounties... was this always the case or is this a new thing?

I don't know. I sure hope it's not a thing as saving bounties up to use with the weapon telemetries to quickly level exotic weapons is something I very much want to take advantage of.
