Question. What are the official Public event times on each on each of the planets? Schedule is posted on the HSV1 website. There is also an android app that gives you the current event timer. This needs it's own post. The app is awesome.

Whats the best way to upgrade legendary and exoctic armour at the ass shard phase ? one piece at a time or evenly between them , bearing in mind shards are like gold dust for me.. First of all, don't spend shards until you have enough to get you to the next level - it's pointless, and you may regret the way you spent them. You're going to be investing shards in essentially two sets of armor - your legendary armor that gets you into the raid, and then the legendary raid armor you earn that replaces it. You'll also have one exotic piece. If you have an exotic piece that you like and are going to stick with all of the way, that's the first place you should spend shards. If you've unlocked any raid armor, put any shards there, since you'll be keeping that. After that, remember that any of the standard legendary armor you have you're probably going to replace. I'd recommend spending shards on armor with upgrades that you like, and hoping that the raid drops you get are for the pieces you don't like.

Question:
Last night, I did the Cosmodrome final strike against the walker and the eyeball. After waiting for a while, Destiny threw me in midgame where the first part was cleared and the walker only had something like a quarterish damage (where I promptly got hit by the turret and then sniped by a vandal... but hey, it's all good) During that whole strike, I was unable to communicate with the other 2 guys who carried my sorry butt.
I wasn't able to verify it, but was the issue my headphones (that I had voice turned off) or was the issue that because those 2 were in a fireteam, and I joined late, that I wasn't in their fireteam and so I couldn't communicate with them?
IE: was it me or was it them or was it both?
Oh... one other thing: anyone else think it's BS that you only get 30 seconds to explore after killing the boss (or any mission for that matter) I literally ran around lookinf for the damn chest after the eyeball dies, finally found it, ran to it, and the game booted me. Bullshirt I say, bullshirt.

Yes, I think you have to put them into your fireteam. You can't communicate in pub lobbies with randoms.

If you're using the game chat, then yes, you need to be in a fireteam. We forgo the game chat and use a party chat. Just go to the party chat list in the Playstation menu, and look for the one that all of us are in. You can be in there even if you're playing something different from the rest of us. It's nice, we have a big group and you can pop in and probably find someone willing to join you on whatever you want to do.

Honestly... that just boggles my mind.
I haven't played MP in too many games, in fact, almost soley in COD, but is it some sort of proprietary software that Bungie doesn't have? It just really shocks me (for lack of a better term) that you can't chat in PUGs.
But thanks for the tip Hawk, I'll try to remember that

Yeah the rest of the guys are often off raiding so I still tend to solo a lot, but if I'm around we can run missions or whatever if our goals match up. ;3 (Sometimes I'm specifically trying to finish certain bounties so I gotta go to a specific place or whatever. But other times I'm just dicking around and up for anything. I really need to grind out story missions just to do them. I'm level 21.5 on my Warlock now and still haven't finished the moon. heh)

But thanks for the tip Hawk, I'll try to remember that The lack of chat has been a fairly common complaint about the game. It was almost certainly a decision not based upon difficulty of implementation, but rather a well thought out decision. The typical negative atmosphere of FPS voice chat is well known even outside of gaming, and likely they wanted to avoid setting that tone for the game. By not having it enabled, it encourages players to find friends to consistently group with. I can say that playing with Denbros and not hearing all of the atrocious content I normally hear playing COD is great - the atmosphere has been positive and encouraging, rather than getting verbally abused, listening to mics echo, and random music.

I'm personally in favor of the general lack of voice chat, though I'm also in favor of an opt in option for crucible, proximity, and strike teams. I think Bungie said they plan on adding opt in for Crucible at least.

I think Bungie said they plan on adding opt in for Crucible at least. IMHO Bungie went too conservative on this aspect. CoD approach seems to be perfectly fine from my point of view, the chat is always available, just allow players to opt in/out through individual mute or lobby mute. Bungie wants this game to have a much broader audience (I think that they were aiming for everyone who can point and shoot ), so they decided to start with something super restrictive. Now they have a better idea of how players are playing this game (and apparently it is NOT a game for everyone), expect to see major tweaks down the road on the entire social experience, including chat, matchmaking, etc. Regarding ETA, I expect to see a patch for these in the month of December, if not earlier.

It's a lot safer for them to launch without it and add it later, compared to launching with it, hoping it's not a problem, and trying to remove an existing feature if it is a problem. Sort of like matchmaking for Raids - they can always add it in, but you can't remove product features.

Question: are there any prerequisites before exotic weapon bounties can appear?
I have 3 characters at level 22/21/20 respectively, and so far I have not gotten any exotic weapon bounty. Not that I am in any hurry to get one, I am just curious.

I believe it's just random. You might need to be level 20 before they can appear. Just keep doing bounties and you'll start getting them, don't worry.

I don't like voice always on by default. It encourages all the worst crap over voice because most people don't bother turning it off and that gives the bastards an audiance. I can mute them, but I wind up having to mute each player individually every game, or put it on something like friends only, but then other people I meet can't talk to me.
I agree that Bungie went a little further than need be, but then it's not really a game killer. I think opt in is enough compromise. (I'd prefer the game remember your status too, though, so if you choose to opt in you don't have to do it every match or every mission.)

Question: how do you deal with Vex Minotaurs? Do they have crit spots?
|
|
|
Post by TheHawkNY on Oct 8, 2014 16:18:47 GMT -5
They do not. At higher levels, they require teamwork. Generally, I like to first hit them with a sticky grenade. This takes down or at least reduces their shield, and when hit they keel over for a moment, which temporarily keeps them stationary. Then you can start hitting them with your guns or a rocket. Things go bad when you try to either solo a Minotaur, or when they teleport right through your Super/Rocket. Hitting them with a sticky grenade first allows you to at least prevent one of these.

You can shoot of their head to enrage them. When enraged a minotaur won't regen/teleport, but they aggro you pretty hard.
