Know what would be awesome?
A quest series that would allow you to add an elemental damage type to a weapon.
Here's what you'd have to do: 1. Go on patrol to grind for the mats... for example purposes, let's use 250 spinmetal leaves 2. Bringing those mats someone (a new NPC in the tower) to combine those mats to a new mat (250 spin metal make 1 Spinmetal brick) 3. Combine a variety of those mats (ie: 3 bricks, 4 Bloom... bouquets, 6 Red Iron rings) 4. Give raid-only mat drops that you need to get to use... ie: Void damage would require 3 Iris' of Septik's Prime, arc would require 5 chain links of Phogoth... etc etc
Here's the thing that makes it awesome: 1. Bungie doesn't tell us what the recipe is... it's done through trial and error and gives the power gamers who have nothing to do, with tons of mats just kicking around, something to do... and bitch about 2. Different mats allow us to make different elemental damage types... so you can buy the Devil You Know 3 times, and have 3 of them, each with a different damage type
If this is too overpowered, the same idea could apply to ammo synthesis packs. So in addition to weapon type ammo, you can buy/make elemental damage ammo packs, where 1 pack has 200 primary ammo, 15 sniper ammo, 100 MG ammo, etc etc

That would probably defeat the point of Raiding.
I wonder if the Patrol mission called "Just Like That?" is a Tommy Cooper reference.

Hmmmmmmmm
Maybe you're right.
How about make the effects temporary then?
So you do that work for half an hour of elemental damage for that particular gun?

I would definitely like to see some crafting, and I like the idea of elemental ammo kits, especially for primary since it usually lacks an element.
I'm not sure about requiring planet resources, at least as is. Once we have the "new economies" in place, mebbe. Although it might be better to introduce new materials for crafting to avoid upsetting current economies.

Elemental ammo synthesis packs could be good though, since Raiding is still not redundant if you are after an elemental primary. People would prefer a permanent elemental, especially if the elemental ammo synthesis packs end up being costly under regular use and could be a way to help people play Nightfall I guess.

yea... the more I think about it, the pack idea works great.
Dammit, Bungie should pay me for this

markopolo - sounds like you don't have a legendary/exotic fusion rifle, so as has been mentioned, go for the Shadow Price. There's a big difference in damage over a rare. After that, I'd recommend using marks to get secondaries and heavies of different damage types. You can get the Unfriendly Giant launcher from the Vanguard Quartermaster, which has fire damage, and has the "Surplus" upgrade which lets you find more ammo, which is really nice.

Make that auto rifle, not fusion rifle.

I would still recommend "The Devil You Know" over "Shadow Price", but I guess that boils down to personal preference of weapon classes.

After much deliberation.................
The Price... was right. And it was. Dat impact... first time I used it was in a Defeat the Target event, and I took 3/4 health off and got a silver medal. Normally, the fugger heals up and leaves with yellow health bar intact.
Very happy with my choice... now to level it up

Normally, the fugger heals up and leaves with yellow health bar intact. Very happy with my choice... now to level it up The ShadowPrice is a best AR. One. It's a low rate of fire AR, so you can hit targets with it. It's useful unlike the 860rpm autos, which are kind of to narrow in their use and miss targets beyond 20m. Two. It's a legendary, so you don't have to worry about the 1-exotic-loaded problems. Three. Of the ten legendary low fire rate autos, it has the best stats. It's by far the best one. You get that fully leveled up and it will put down VoG (normal mode) minotaurs during most all the stages. And do it in ONE CLIP. That's the key. You don't need to reload. It will deal out over 5,450 in damage, which is over and above what's needed (5,100). So that means you can kill 'em in 5 plus seconds. And since it's a legendary, you can then free up space to use an exotic in your special or heavy category. You juggle that with the IceBreaker,....you can solo defend many checkpoints.

Yeah. The problem with Machine guns is the ammo situation. To easy to run out.

Yeah. The problem with Machine guns is the ammo situation. To easy to run out. And I really hope they fix that. There is 0 reason why there are some MG's with a smaller mag than a AR. 0 Every MG's mag should be 100/400 upgradeable to more

Yeah with the deathly slow reloads and scarcity of even getting heavy ammo I don't understand the small mag sizes on MG's. It relegates them to a niche position where I usually only pull it out for a boss (or event with a big enemy to kill) where I hold the trigger down for 10 seconds or however long until it goes dry which usually doesn't kill the boss but hopefully brings down shields, and then I switch weapons and forget about it until after the fight because the reload takes too long.
About the only time I've found when my MG was REALLY useful, was on my first Weekly with Marko which had void burn on and I had a void MG. It was great for dealing with the minotaur that spawned behind us repeatedly. (I can't imagine how much harder that would have been if two minotaurs spawned instead of just one.)

I love MGs. I reserve them for 2 situations:
1) When I got rushed by mobs and my life is on the line. MGs are very effective in that it will either kill them or knock them back hard so you can take a breath;
2) Minor boss assassinations, with matching damage. MGs can either kill them, or at least take out their shields so you can switch back to your primary and finish them off.
Outside of these situations, I don't use them until I see purple ammo on the ground, in which case I'll indulge myself with half a mag and then pick the ammo up.
For major bosses, Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher are the way to go.
Also, MG have different RoF. I suggest the following usage for less ammo consumption:
1) For MGs with slowest RoF: use them in semi-auto mode and go for headshots. They feel like Sniper Rifles when used this way. The best is Thunderlord, that sucker can one shot lots of enemies;
2) For MGs with faster RoF: fire them in short bursts. This will stop the rushers on their tracks so you can have time to line up headshots or switch to your primary;

Random strict NAT last night. Weird. I couldn't clear it. Then I had a destiny disconnect. Then it was ok from there. Ps4 said it was ok throughout. Pain in the arse. I couldn't get on for nearly an hour.

Nah I think something is wrong at Destiny's end because I am getting plenty of overseas players like each from a different country and I am on a red bar and could not clear it. So much for allowing fireteam talk because I don't expect everyone to know English and I am unfortunately useless at foreign languages myself, although I did learn a little Italian while at school. Was not like this yesterday. Also, spawn promot delay.

I got kicked at the end of my weekly strike run around 11:30pm. Guess that's Destiny's way of saying that "you play games too much and need to go to bed", so I complied

Player count must be really low for the Iron Banner today. Plenty of lobbies involving one player from each country across Europe and the USA on a Saturday morning and matches going to the time limit because players are not being refilled. Seems a bit pointless having the voice chat feature if nobody can communicate because they all speak different languages. :/. Does this happen to anyone else here?

As IW suggested in another thread, exclusion zone with heroic modifier is a pretty good option. Good usage of consumables in strikes also works, it is not as effective, but you will also earn marks.

tooros Also if you are a baller/have baller friends the (normal) VoG gatekeeper checkpoint is probably the fastest way to generate exp. You spawn into a room full of nothing but vex ultras that constantly drop blue polyphage. They aren't that tough and if you die you just spawn right back into the room! It's a perpetual glimmer machine lol.

Im getting used to pvp but can't wait to get back to pve.

Or how many British people speak Gaelic? Just got placed in a lobby with Italians, Americans, a Russian and an Indian. This is an AAA game that is barely a year old and it matches up players like this? MW2 finds plenty of people from my own country and it appears to be mainly a PvP thing because the players I meet at The Tower do not show something that resembles the Olympics. Yet racing games I play online don't suffer from bizarre matchmaking.

Exclusion zone at level 22 gives nine major Cabal at the beginning and they often drop Network Keys and Resupply Codes.
