Waiting on PC I guess. I considered double dipping and then dumping the Xbox version to Gamestop or something when PC came out but the fat man got a bit territorial about going in on PC blind and avoiding the console stuff.

But yeah either way I go someone is going to be mad so what can ya do? The tiebreaker comes down to Destiny 2 being 30fps even still when XBX comes out. Well, that and the FOV. They could have gotten me with cross-saves or cross-play, or 60 fps, or really just about any concession to multi-platform players. Besides, new season of R6 started like 10 hours before D2 console launch so now I don't have to choose. Though given the way placement matches went maybe D2 would have been the better bet.

Ehhh, yeah, the 7 week delay plus THebb is on the XONE and I'm not going to ditch him. I'll almost certainly end up getting it for the PC at some point just to experience the best version of the game, but it was never going to be my main platform unless THebb switched too. Maybe if I'm lucky cross-saves or cross-play will get implemented in the meantime and save me some grinding.

So actually the reason I asked about Pegasus playing on PC is that I assumed that was happening. And I'm thinking about trying the PC version, too. I'm not scared to double dip.
So question - can someone provide me recommendation for a graphics card that will adequately support D2 but still fall into the realm of relatively affordable? I'd prefer to stay under $200. I can post the rest of my computer specs later, but I do know that I have an i7 processor.

Destiny is not a hugely demanding game on the GPU. As for CPU i7 is kind of a generic label spanning like a decade now, but if it's anything modern and i7 you're more than set. I wouldn't be surprised if the first i7s actually held up ok on D2. Generically I'd say even though it will go a little over $200, a GTX 1060 3GB should slay D2 no problem. A 6GB would be a better buy for gaming in general though. And if you want to go cheap and you're planning on going for 1080p 60fps then a GTX 1050 on some lowered quality settings should do the trick. You probably don't have the best second hand market for computer stuff up your way but you could always see if you can dig up a cheap GTX 770 or 960. Is your PC an off the shelf Dell type build? The more details the better.
But it's PC land, so it all depends. 144hz monitor and a GTX 1060 or better is a nice step up in feel. Even though just about anything is an improvement on how the game runs on XBO.
Hey Hebb Prime, you said you got a decent laptop right? Did you give the D2 beta a try to see how it runs?

Regrettably I did not. Just didn't have time. Pretty sure I have an i7-7700 and a GTX 1060. Can't recall exactly right now in my sleep deprived state. I don't think I should have any issues at all.

I think with the 60hz 1440p monitor and that CPU a GTX 1060 is the way to go. 3GB is like 230-ish and 6GB is more like 290, but is much preferred (but will make very little difference in Destiny 2 specifically). Or you could grab a used GTX 970 4GB for around $200 probably.

The Xbox version is a little rough. It only looks good when they're going ham with the water and fire effects. A couple of missions in and the more normal parts of the game are... not great. The PC defectors are going to be in for a relative treat come release. I'm sure it'll look better in general on the Xbox One X at least. I'm not very far in (LL 70 or so, like 5 missions), so I'm avoiding the D2 thread proper for now.
I had kind of checked out on the idea of getting the Xbox version, that plus the late start and I'm clearly not going to be raid ready in time for release. How is the rest of our depleted roster looking? We going to try to pull together a sad assortment of refugees and make a go of it at the end of the week maybe?

I have been traveling to kayak the past few weekends, plus at least this next one too.
I don't think I can get there yet. I got to the 140's last Thursday, but then gone all weekend. I hope to get on tonight, tomorrow and Wed for a bit. Maybe I can level up pretty fast over those three sessions.

I would be into that. I am still stuck at a lower level though. I did go from level 14/133 to level 20/210 last night, so I did make progress. Still have to finish the campaign. I think I have one or more missions left. But I can do patrols, challenges, and Strikes now, in addition to the public events, Adventures I'm Level 20, still a power level of 210. I need to figure out how to get better stuff. I'm probably going to have to wait a week or two to try the raid. :-( |
