I did finish the campaign. My thoughts? I know I give Destiny a bunch of sh^t at times, I can be negative ....but the story really was just kind of ok. It did seem more coherent than the last one, i'll give it that, but I think I'm mostly at fault for not paying attention very closely. I'm texing on the phone and doing other shit while shooting crap. I sometim4es use the cut scenes to do other things.

Some examples, the last scene where I kill Gaul (I did remember his name, so that's a positive), I did kill him, but then he becomes a big flame monster for some reason, and then he just dies by the big light ball? I didn't get that. Did my killing him make him a bigger monster, only to be killed by the Light? That threw me a bit.

Is Gaul dead? If so, who will be the villain in the raid? Will it be that people in that creepy looking black ship that showed up on the credits?

I also didn't understand why Gaul was there at earth. He wanted the Travelers Light? So he was trying to mine it out of the light ball that sat above earth?

And why did he kill his lil buddy? He strangled him near the end. Kind of homoerotic if you ask me (I wasn't turned on though, just saying) The lil buddy said something about how he chose Gaul. Didn't get that.

No need to answer the above, it's probably not very important.

I guess it was better. I wouldn't even have been able to say any of the above about Destiny 1. And this campaign had tanks in it to blow stuff up, plus it wasn't super long. All in all, not bad I guess.

Yeah those are all valid questions. I didn't really get the lava ghaul either. I think he has to die for his "final form" to happen through some kind of D1 self res. I mean, all guardians have also been resurected by the light before they actually became guardians. That is my working theory at least. The ball killing Ghaul is not super strange imho, the traveler revealed its true light to defeat Ghaul, at the expense of what happend at the end of the cutscene. The triangle ships are probably the real enemy of the traveler, and they have been alerted now. (p.s. that lightball *is* the traveler)

Ghaul might be dead or he might not be, I think nobody knows who the end boss will be in the raid at this point. I hope he is actually dead, or they provide some story why he can still be the boss. I would nog like a skolas kind of thing where we catch him in the story and then have to defeat him again in the prison.

Ghaul was here to mine the travelar to make himself stronger, and to stop the human race. As guardians have a long history of destroying cabal companies. There are several lore pieces from destiny 1 describing our war with the cabal from their side. They kill us only to be revived by the light over an over again. So all in all Ghaul comming here to steal our light makes quite a lot of sense lore wise.

The little buddy was probably a high ranking dude but too old to rule for himself. So he choose ghaul to be his protegee. No direct info there though. But that has always been one of the strenghts about Destiny story (probably the only one), there was always a little part you had to figure out yourself. He killed him because Ghaul wanted to be blessed by the traveler, instead of mine it. The little guy didn't agree. Strange thing that scene, don't have a clue why exactly but that is what I do know. Anybody got a better theory?

Damn should have read ahead... But then again I like there is finally some Destiny discussion here again

I would give the story a 7 out of 10. Not because it was good by any movie standards or something. But because (fps) games just have shitty stories in general. At least this is better than any of COD games I have played. Halo was still heaps ahead over this though.

Thanks anyways, ...good info. That kind of helps flesh things out. When I do my second character run through i'll try to keep the above things in mind, to make better sense of it all.

I did like some of the cut scenes at the end, seeing the other guardians in action. That was pretty cool.

I haven't played a CoD campaign in like five years. Can't even remember the last one. 2010? 2011?

I will be max 299, but I might switch to a lower light level so I can use the prospector (exotic grenade launcher). The game gives you drops based of of the max possible light level in your inventory...so it doesn't hurt to switch if you are already above the light level of the activity that you are participating in!

I don't think I'll be ready to this weekend. Maybe by Sunday night at the earliest. I'm only power level 222.

I'm trying to catch up, just only have certain times I can play this week.

Sunday or Monday works for me. Leaving Destin on Saturday, no headset before then so no go on raid attempts. And yes, I'll be going in blind.

If we aim for Sunday afternoon or something, that might give Stone time to get leveled up. I'm thinking getting to 260-270 should be adequate for our effort. We generally haven't managed to advance through an entire raid our first time through... BUT I BELIEVE IN US, so maybe this time.

Our biggest problem is always just having a full roster online for a large chunk of time. Anyway I'm up to like 252 though I haven't been super efficient about it. I will try to get to 280 by the weekend and then start working up other characters until raid time. Monday works better for me since my team is on Sunday Night Football. Of course by the time that ends it's still fairly early out west here and I'm good to go then if you easteners are up for the late shift.

Raid was a lot of fun. We only got two challenges done, and after that we got lost for three solid hours in the maze or how you would like to call it (we might have glitched it or something but more on that later). Pro tip if you want to clear the raid within a few hours? Go back to the middle square with the flag poles after challenges instead of wandering around finding your own path.

Yeah there are probably some spoilers in there, but nothing to bad. I wish I knew the above yesterday

Also, the two challenges we did were pretty strait forward to figure out yourself, try to refrain from googling if you don't get it to work the first couple of times.

p.s. the total size of this thing is at least dreadnought size.

I got up to level 233 last night. Went from 222 to 233. Probably could have gotten higher but ended up wasting a good hour doing one lousy patrols where I couldn't figure out what to do. Loot cache stuff? Who knows, I spent waaaay to much time and the game wouldn't give me the stuff. Anyways, much of the evening was kind of not very efficient. Did the 'Revisit the Light' mission (opened up my third class), did the three patrol challenge, another mission, plus a bunch of public events. Tried to look for the heroic thing, ...and couldn't figure out a single one of them lol.

I do have a about 30 world tokens for the planets Essos and the EDZ. So those are building up, saving them for 260. Hope to have about 60 each by then.

I'm going to play a bit tonight and double down my efforts. Maybe I can get into the 250's?

I think I can be there by Monday. Sunday? Not so sure. I'm fine whatever time Monday night. I can stay up late, whatever.

I would love to try it blind, but if not, that's ok too. Beggars can't be choosers.

I'll keep spoilers away from this thread. We got to the final boss and gave it a solid 6ish tries after having figured out all the mechanics. Now it is just about putting in the work. However 3 of us had to leave due to adult responsibilities. My personal breaky break ends today.

We would have gone much faster if three of our players didn't butt egos during the second and third challenges. That is what you get when you run with 3+ type A personalities tho.

I'm fairly proud of my contribution to the plans. I checked the reddit guide this morning they still haven't puzzled out the optimized strategy for the 3rd fight (which I mapped out). I also came up with the trick for the 2nd fight which put us ahead of the streamers at one point.

This raid is going to challenge you in new ways. I really hope you keep spoiler-free.

A team from the clan The Legend Himself beat it in 5.5 hours. In comparison, Kings Fall took 7 and Crota took 6. But certainly a lot less than VoG's 14

I got up to level 257 this morning. But am now done until Sunday evening.

So not bad, went from 233 to 257 in a few hours last night, and then about an hour this morning. I probably would have been in the 260's easily if not for having to do what seemed like every public event solo. That was very frustrating, not being able to finish five or six of them. There's never anyone around on the maps, it's like a ghost town.

What helped me this morning was buying all four pieces of the Xur gear. The Warlock chest piece was like 257 or so, so that gave me a nice boost. Not sure if I should have blown all my shards on Hunter and Titan gear, but figured might as well buy them now in case they aren't around later.

You did good. Shards are (at least right now) in abundance. The hunter chest is really good. These two armor pieces can be chosen in the story line of the hunter and titan though, so watch out that you choose different pieces there.

257 is a really respectable light level. If your fire team is high light level you can probably join them in the raid. The raid is a purple engram farm. Get full of engrams within a few hours. Also, al milstones reset on Tuesday morning, so if you are not able to do the nightfall/other milestones on monday, might as well do them on sunday even if you are not 265 by then.

Have not tried nightfall this week but it seems to be easier than last week.

I am still confused about the having two pieces of the same gear, at different levels. I think that gets into the whole infusion thing. I'll figure that out next week.

Good News: Beat the raid and final boss in a staggering 3 cycles (world's first clear made it in 5). Got the emblem and three loot drops! Got recorded proof of the boss dead.

Bad News: The game glitched out and put us in an infinite death loop immediately after. The check mark on the clan page is unchecked! This means noone gets loot! Sad! EVERYONE IS TRIGGERED DONT WORRY.


Everyone is gonna have to wait til tomorrow night 1 am EDT.

Bad news #2. gonna have a small culling on the xbox side because we hit max clan members. Apparently if we have max clan members we can't do carry nightfalls for the beta. SAD! We have some inactive players that are gonna get CULLED.
