I see how my wording there was confusing.

No there's just the one there. We got to the 2nd chest with the characters we cheesed the bridge with and just swapped our other charcters in to grab it as well. That seemed easier and more efficient than trying to speed run the shrieker/thrall hallway two more times on the other characters. oh ok, no worries. To help other people, here's a better video 1. Tried to show more of the lamp-boost route. Where to run and where to plant your grenade for cover. Drop it where I do, it effectively blockades all the thrall, and then gives you plenty of time to get on the launch rock. The clip also shows the correct foot position. Foot goes 12" behind the the crack on the floor. 2. What rock to stand on when shooting the ogre. You can get on this rock, while at darkness x 10. No big jump needed. The is key, in the event you goof up somewhere and trigger the thrall. If you are NOT on the rock, (after triggering the bridge to form), the thrall will swarm you. Get on the rock, off the ground, they go away. Key point to remember. 3. The big jump on the 2nd part, the Bridge. This is the trickiest jump to make on this cheat. The video shows where to land, but the key is to ever so slightly arc leftward while in the air, almost aiming for the left wall that is jutting out before you land.

Personally I am happy with the current state of the new raid: parts of it are soloable so you can explore on your own, while the final fight requires teamwork and is the most important one for loot drops. This makes the raid much more playable. We can all get enough practice before the raid night, and make the group raiding experience much tighter and more efficient. Hopefully in 1 or 2 weeks we can beat the raid 3 times in one night, maybe even with time left for VoG. Sure, the bridge cheese should be patched since that's just bad. As long as they get it done before CsE Hard becoming available in January I am fine with it. This is pretty much where I'm at regarding the raid. I appreciate that I'll be able to get at least 1 chest and 2 raid drops for each of my characters whenever it's convenient without having to rely on getting a full group together, especially with holidays the next couple weeks which will make that process harder than usual. When we do have a full group, we can skip the cheese and do it legit since that's more fun anyway (and if done right will actually take similar or less time than cheesing, according to Post). Plus we could use the practice since the cheese methods will surely be gone soon. I used to feel bad about cheesing stuff or getting it the "cheap" way. Not anymore after the DLC came out. If you're going to make my stockpiles of 100+ ascendant shards and energies practically worthless on a whim, and make all my VoG guns 2nd tier, and make me relevel all my exotics, all with little or no warning, then I'm going to cheese the shit out of every Radiant material I can for as long as I can. Hopefully Bungie is done adding new materials/currencies/upgrade processes/leveling gates/shit to waste time grinding on for awhile. I do kind of understand the change with Radiant materials since Ascendant stuff is so plentiful now, but if I have to gather a ton of Iridescent Shards/Energy* to level up the House of Wolves raid gear/weapons when that comes out in a few months, I might just give up on the endless grind that is Destiny. "Planned obsolescence" isn't uncommon for MMO/MMO-style games, but those changes usually happen on a scale of years (with plenty of advance warning as well), not every few months. I don't mind regrinding once in a while, but I'm not going to do it every two or three months for the lifetime of this game. That's not Destiny, that's INSANITY! *Material names trademarked by HebbNH. Bungie, please send all royalties to the address you have on file. You're welcome.

Very well said Heb, you echo my thoughts almost word for word.
I see it the same way. Seeing how Bungie has led me into wasting 20, 30 hours of my life doing unnecessary grinding of guns, at this point I feel it's almost my civic gaming-duty to try and get back some of that lost/wasted time from them. Yeah, part of me is really pissed off that the part of the game I enjoyed the most (Crotas End Raid) is now trashed with cheating (I do feel it cheapens what we did the other night), but Bungie's incompetence with glitches is real. And so is my time. So I'm going to ride this glitch/cheat horse all the way in.
I really don't think going with a full party is faster, or if so, that much faster. By the time I got to my third character, I pretty much did both stages in fifteen to twenty minutes. The opening stage can be done in five min. The bridge, if you have the jumps down, takes no more than ten minutes. I now have two Exotics helmets at 36. I have one 36 Raid Chest fully leveled at 36. Have three others, plus two 36 Gloves. So now just sitting on 12 Radiant Shards, and 21 Radiant Energies. I'm going to accumulate them for a while, until I get the last two pairs of boots I need, then push to get two characters to 32.
I'm not doing three characters this time. Not with another DLC coming out in Feb or March. No way.
Going forward, I'm not going to allow Bungie to play for me a dimwitted video game addict ever again. Fvck them. Allow them to suck me in on 12 hour IB grinds for what will outdate/obsolete guns a month later? No. Allow myself to get sucked into hours long quests, to get something I don't need? No. Listen to their propaganda about collecting Exotics to use, only to lose all that effort? Hell fvcking no.

Hopefully Bungie is done adding new materials/currencies/upgrade processes/leveling gates/shit to waste time grinding on for awhile. LAWL! I expect at least one new currency with the next expansion. Maybe things will be different once we get past the expansions everybody already paid for. Both of these expansions were 90% planned and budgeted before the game even come out. And, while Bungie has been pretty reactive to the community TDB seems perhaps less so. I think that Bungie has separate teams for live and expansions. Hell each expansion may have it's own team. I hope they learn from TDB's mistakes. It's too late to fix it now, but I do hope the next one goes better. But I fully expect there WILL be new grinding left to do, and new currencies to collect. That is, after all, what we do.

But it's not what you have to do. You really don't need to grind as much. Like I said before, play smarter, not harder.

Yes, but at this point pretty much everything we are doing is grinding, collecting, or both. You can minimize it all you want, but that's still the game. Note: I mean grinding in a mechanical sense, regardless of whether you're enjoying it or not. We are repeating activities and missions we've done before with only a few difference... if any.

Correct. But at this point, we also now know that Bungie has every intention of penalizing people as a way to keep the masses together, and have every intention of using every trick in the book to get all of us to waste time. So with that, there is a difference between playing the game smart....and being played by Bungie. You know?
For example. Not playing smart. This would be grinding 12 to 14 hours of IB over the next four days, to get a armor you can already get from the Vanguard, or a sniper rifle that is pretty much identical to others. Seriously, why should you bother to spend time on IB, when Bungie didn't even bother to spend the time to change even the emblems from last time? This is idiocy. Come on. Bungie doesn't respect you or your time. They put almost zero effort into making this different, and now hope people will just blindly busy themselves on this stuff, grinding away like sheeple.

Going forward, I'm now strongly considering breaking down and releveling 2 characters so I have 3 of the same class, then just maxing out one set of raid gear and a few exotics to trade between the 3 and save up/break down everything else for materials. That would reduce time demands significantly -- playing smarter, not harder as you say IW! In retrospect I obviously should have jumped on that train a long time ago, but I really wanted to max out all three classes so I could see how each of them played and figure out which class/subclass I enjoyed the most. All I've actually done is figure out that I enjoy each subclass in it's own way and that they're all useful in their own way (although Hunters seem the least useful overall, unfortunately), so I still have a couple tough decisions to make -- a) do I go this route, and b) what class do I go with? Warlock is probably highest on the list due to Sunsinger self-rez which is just so good for hard raids, Nightfalls, and other endgame content. Voidwalker might be my favorite subclass outside of that, it's great in PvP even though I don't play Crucible that much, and the idea of an Obsidian Mind/Bad Juju/high Intellect constant-Nova Bomb-extravaganza build makes me giddy. Defender Titan is a pretty cool guy, and Striker shoulder charge/Tiger Knee is incredibly entertaining also. Bladedancer invisibility is fun and useful, but Gunslinger seems underpowered with its near-useless melee and underwhelming super which isn't good for much except taking out adds and oracles. Gunslinger's trance and chain of woe are pretty nice, but aren't any good if you don't get a precision kill every few seconds. I guess I have some pondering to do.
Aside from that, my biggest hindrance to upgrading raid gear right now on my Titan and Warlock is Radiant Shards. The 2nd biggest problem? A massive shortage of plasteel plating and hadronic essence. I have to vault any engrams earned with my Hunter (sitting on 425 or so sapphire wire...of course) just to get them out and break them down for those materials on one of the other classes. I suppose with enough time that problem will go away, but it could be solved almost immediately by having 3 characters of the same class. Ugh...decisions, decisions.

If I do IB it's because there are some rewards I want, and I had so much fun with the last one I've been looking forward to it. It's not just grinding for me. I agree, the rewards for this IB aren't really worth it in and of themselves. But it's enough of an excuse that I'll poke at IB this week then probably grind out a lot of games this weekend. I already have all the armor I need to hit level 31 so it sure isn't for the armor. I do find the weapons kind of appealing and need a new sniper rifle for sure.

Bungie is asking the players to go spend 12 to 15 hours of their time.....meanwhile, Bungie didn't even bother to spend 10 minutes to update the emblems, shaders or other rewards. Come on, that's insulting. If it's not worth their time, why is our time less valuable? We are the customers. But in this case, they are treating us like addicts.

I think this may be the establishment of a precedent by which we get a dull almost reward-less IB right after a major release, then later we will get a revamped one with rewards in like with the last major release. So only every other IB is really very good and the odd ones are just filler...
Maybe not, but I bet you next IB has better rewards, then after the next expansion we get another yawner like this one.

For the record, I actually wanted to do what you did originally. I really wanted to play all three characters and try them out. That is still what I want to do. But I can't. It goes without saying, there are time limitations. Bungie's ridiculous time demands just crushed me, which is why I gave up months ago. These time demands are completely mind boggling to me, what they ask of the players. I know how much time I am spending to keep three Warlocks front running on this game. Some of you with three different characters, you have to be spending two to three times more time than me? Maybe more? I saw Witty's schedule for the rest of the week, he almost has like 30 hours booked until Sunday. That's not fair to any of us gamers. Bungie allowed us to have three characters, because they wanted us to try them all. That's how it was intended to be. But Bungie got lost along the way, when they put grinding into the game that made the only way to have three characters...AND keep up,.... is to put close to 30 to 40 hours a week into this game. That's absurd. It's fun for a while, but at some point, you have to stop and look at what you are doing. Which is hard, because anyone on this section of the board, ...is already well addicted to this game. I will admit it. Anyone else saying differently is fooling themselves. I would think it through before doing that. Think about how much longer you need now, and how it will affect things with the next DLC.

iw5000: I have a fundamental difference of opinion from you regarding Destiny and Bungie. I will try to make my points concise and punchy this time, not a huge wall of text 1) I stop playing when I feel being forced into grinding. There is no point to play a game if I don't enjoy it. 2) IMHO there is a trap many players tend to fall into: try to reach a "done" / "completed" state, that trap was level 30, now it is level 32. Don't fall into that trap, there is no "done" state to reach when playing Destiny; 3) The reason to keep playing Destiny is when it is still fun for you. If it is not, stop playing. Many players have moved on (e.g.: Brown is playing nothing but Warframe now); 4) For players who still enjoy playing the game, adapt the game to how you want to play it. If you only want to raid? Just play the raid. 1 night each week, done. No need to worry about bounties, daily, weekly, nightfall, Crucible, IB, whatever. 5) The most important point I want to make: don't let the rewards drive how you play the game, because whatever the thing you want to get, there are better things you can get later. You can take a break from Destiny, come back in 6 months, and catch up to everybody in 2 weeks, seriously. The reason why you play this game during this 6 months, need to be that you really enjoy this game.6) What if the game feels boring without the rewards? That's a strong cue that this game is no longer fun for you, and it's time to move on.I will describe how I play and enjoy Destiny in the next post.

Again though...please don't let me ruin it for you. My complaining there is with the small hope that my feelings gather steam, build and then echo back to Bungie somehow, so that they will fix this game, before most people quit.

For example, months ago, I deleted my other two characters and made all warlocks. Recently? I pretty much stopped trying to do the 3-sets of Weekly/Nightfalls. I might do one set a week now. And even more recent, I'm just doing quick bounties for leveling, dumping guns, and last, as of last night, just full-on doing the solo-raid stuff to save on time. Hopefully if I can crank back the time requirements, spend 1/5th of the time, but maintain 90%of the results, ....I'll keep my sanity and keep it fun.

In this post I want to illustrate a key point furthermore, with myself as an example. I already mentioned in my previous post about it, but it is worth repeating: it is time to reflect on which is more important: having fun or getting rewards? It seems to me that parts of the community is too fixed upon the rewards, and have gradually gotten lost during this pursuit. Maybe it is how MMO investment like system do to people psychologically. The game play is degraded into a endless treadmill of going after the next "cool" stuff. In my humble but strong opinion: things should have been the other way around. We should do what enjoy, and let the rewards sweeten the deal, most of the time. Note that I say "most of the time" because grinding is still necessary from time to time. I am OK with it as long as it does not dominate my play time (Destination Material farming used to be in that category and I hated it). I will give some examples of how I am trying to follow my own advice (yes, I struggle to follow them from time to time. The dark force of the reward trap is too strong ) 1) Iron Banner Question: do I enjoy playing it? Yes! Question: do I consider playing to rank 5 grindy, and will hate it at the end? No. Action: play it to reach rank 5 (if I can, no sweat if I can't) and earn the weapon rewards. 2) Nightfall solo Question: do I enjoy playing it? Hmm, not so much with the punishing reset Action: don't play it solo! Find a friend to play with, or go LFG. 3) Weekly solo Question: do I enjoy playing it? Yes, for 1 character per week. Action: do that, see how things go with weekly. If it is good, may even try to do 1 Nightfall solo. 4) 3 characters of 3 different classes Question: do I enjoy playing all 3 classes? Yes Action: keep doing that even it means that I have glacial speed to reach level 32; You can see the gist...

I just went through the Destiny app and added it up. I have 10 days and 19 hours of playtime. I don't think that counts time spent in orbit, the tower, matchmaking, loading, etc, so that's a hugely conservative figure. That's 2.5 to 3 hours a day since release, or 15 to 20 hours a week, conservatively. That's just not a pace that I feel I can sustain anymore, even if I am enjoying it (which I am!). Going to 3 same-class characters would cut that in half easily I think. 10 hours a week I can do and not feel like I'm going to get burnt out, and I would still be able to keep up just fine. What I'm really trying to contemplate are the time demands for the next DLC. Even if I get all 3 current characters caught up now, what kind of shape will I be in then? 3 same-class characters are going to be fine either way for sure. Sticking with what I have is a gamble, one that I'm going to lose if Bungie pulls the whole "relevel/regrind all your stuff, and btw you need brand new materials to upgrade that stuff" that they did this time. We'll see, but if Xur sells the Obsidian Mind this week, that might just be the clincher.

If only I take one more drink, things will be ok. Come on, don't make excuses. This IB was an insult. And it's highly unlikely they will suddenly spend more time to make the next one better. Again though...please don't let me ruin it for you. My complaining there is with the small hope that my feelings gather steam, build and then echo back to Bungie somehow, so that they will fix this game, before most people quit. [/quote] No I'm just describing a pattern I think is emerging. Bungie has already proven that they can and do pay attention to the community. Iron Banner 2.0 was pretty much a huge success. Still not perfect but they actually did address nearly all the major concerns from IB 1. So this time around they gave us more of the same, only didn't want to steal TDB's thunder so kept the rewards bland. It' lazy, and yes a bit insulting and there's tons of backlash... hence Bungie will respond. Will the responce be too little too late? Probably, but it will probably be an improvement. I don't know if they will offer 36 light gear, though. At present the level cap for players that don't have the expansion is 31 and 32 is only achievable for people with the DLC. We have literally bought power... we just also have to earn it. But I do expect the next IB (if it's before the next expansion... can never tell since there's no schedule) will have some better enticements... and then the one after that will be another copy/paste job...

To marko...
I haven't even really played CoD yet. Which is another issue. Haven't been able to, because Destiny's eating up like ALL my available gaming time. I played CoD to much before, a lot. I know exactly (to the hour) how much is a lot, not enough and every thing in between. And the numbers/requirement I am seeing with Destiny? They are flat out just scary. They crush anything CoD has ever had. Crushed.
And the last few months of last year's CoD Ghosts, I pretty much mostly played during Clan Wars. That and the busy work of running the clan chewed up way to much time. I am not letting that happen again this year. It was ridiculous. It's a full time job almost trying to get a clan into the top 20 in the world. Adjustments needed there too.
I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything. I just like to speak my mind on these boards. I'm lucky to have a somewhat very easy/time flexible job, but for me, Destiny is sucking the life out of CoD, as well as my lifting and grappling.

Yeah, Witty, I think I'm with you. I have goals and my eye on progress but I also focus on what's fun as much as possible. That's partly why I have never been tempted to delete my Hunter and Titan and make more Warlocks. For me repeating all the weekly stuff with effectively the same character 3 times sounds grindy and I don't really have the time for it. With what playtime I do have I always have stuff I haven't done yet. There are new bounties and a new daily mission every day that I often miss out on. As is I'm lucky if I finish the weekly two times a month and have never done a nightfall. I've got armor to upgrade, an exotic bounty to do, Eric's Mom's urn quest. Lots to do.
As for IB. I want to play it because the last IB was the most fun I've had in Destiny short of playing with my RL brother and Marko to knock out tough missions. It was a great challenge and I eventually got pretty decent at it and actually accomplished the goal I set out for myself. My only regret was not hitting it hard enough to hit rank 5. So the rewards aren't as great this time, but they are just an excuse to play, not the reason.

I've barely touched AW. I played some the first week or two and then turned my time to Destiny and a smattering of GTAV. I have no time for AW right now. It's an interesting game, but honestly I prefer Destiny IB to AW multiplayer and Destiny PvE is WAY better. ;3 (Just an opinion... I'm not saying it's a better game. I'm saying I have more fun.)

Cool; and kudos to you for recognizing the time and effort needed to do what you did. It was very impressive what you were able to accomplish, but equally impressive is the realization and the ability to quote, unquote Walk away from it all. And I too am not trying to sell anyone on anything either... I think we're just on opposite ends of the spectrum of gaming styles. I recommend we start a kickstarter for you and Drolly to get 2 new PS4s and digital copies of Destiny with the 2 updates... join Mannon and I and his bro on the Sony Side of the Force... we'll be your sponsors... we can call our clan Grindaholics Anonymous

Oh yeah. Regarding the MIDA. From my own internal testing, this is all bullshit. I went and timed myself (with a stopwatch) running about 50 meters on a test course on the Moon, with my Warlock. I did three sprints over my timed course. The results are as follows: Pssst. Try that again, but walk (not run) that distance. Mida is good because it makes 10x weight (no running) affect you less.

New movement is jerky, but interesting. Spawns are horrible... maps feel too small... I dunno yet either. Definitely prefer Titanfall and right now I'm all about Destiny. >,> I am an addict to Destiny in general, that's for sure. I need my fix!
