Okay so we just came off of an Iron Banner. This one I have mixed feelings about... On the one hand I got a chest piece and sniper rifle I really needed, and picked up the warlock bond so next time I can have full IB rep bonus from the start, and that's nice. On the other I was playing until the very last minute to make rank 4 and got snubbed by Lord Saladin so I missed the gloves, rocket launcher, and hand cannon... that I feel I fecking earned! But anyway... >,>
Next time I want to rub it in Lord Saladshooter's face. I want to make my goal of rank 5 and I want to buy everything he has that I don't already own... whether I need it or not. But I'd also like to be more social about it as I've done most of my IB stuff solo.
Anyway... What I'd like to do is see if anybody is interested in an IB schedule for getting together for the next one. Personally it's my plan at this time to have a set start time and play every day during the week, so I can at least knock out as many bounties as possible. I'll probably only play about an hour a day until the weekend then grind a bit harder and try to finish Saturday or Sunday. I figure if there is a schedule some of the bros might get together more for it, if you guys want.
As is I have added tons of people to my friends list, but I hardly know any of them so I never pester them, which kind of defeats the point. (I'll probably start deleting people I don't know, only because I don't talk to or engage with people I don't know anything about and having loads of complete strangers I never talk to on my list isn't doing anybody any good. If you're on my list and want to do stuff and not be removed then just send me a message, but at this point there's a lot I can't tell if were added randoms from Destiny or bros I've just never talked to.)
Anyway, that's the gist so far. I want to rock the IB. I kind of wish there were some sort of clan war component to go with it... some reason to get all competitive with it. I don't know why, but I love IB. For all of Destiny's oddities I just find it really fun, and somehow I'm not terrible at it.

I doubt I could stick to any set schedule, but if I'm on and you don't already have a full squad I'm definitely down to play as I'm all about the PvP aspect of Destiny (a rare breed I guess) to which I also usually play solo as most others I see on are in Raids or Strikes. Btw, today might just be my very first Raid, so we'll see how much I enjoy that aspect of the game if I'm added to the Den group. I also haven't even completed the story-mode for this game, but I figure I'll get around to it sooner rather than later -- I usually go between the Earth, Moon, and Venus to do Patrols in order to complete Vanguard bounties; otherwise, I'm in the Crucible playing Control and/or Combined Arms and trying to complete bounties there too. When the Iron Banner was available I spent my time there instead of the standard Crucible.

Yeah I haven't completed story mode either. heh heh I just barely started Mars on my Warlock. My Hunter has played the last mission as a daily, but has even less progress otherwise.
I think I might really like Crucible if I find the time to play it between Iron Banners. I'll give it a go at some point, but right now I'm done with PvP for a while and want to focus on what I can do in PvE. I've got lots of work to do on my road to becoming legend. ;3
I hope you enjoy the raid. I've only done VoG on normal, and only once, but it was fun. I look forward to doing it again.

Damn, next week already! Doesn't give me a lot of time, but aside from glimmer farming and clearing the RL time to play I don't have that much to worry about. (Though I would maybe like to get these exotic bounties out of the way. I want the exotics weapons, but I hate them taking up precious bounty slots... grr...

It's pretty popular. Looks like it'll be once a month. I would like to see some other events, though. So far they've only had the Queen's one once and that was pretty lame.

Eh? I liked the Queen's Wrath because I needed the gear to rank up. Oh well, normal Crucible might have more soft lobbies in so I can get my bounties done faster I guess.

Iron Banner is great for bounties, and generally softer than Crucible in my experience... because Iron Banner draws out people who usually play mostly PvE, while Crucible with it's crappy rewards is played mostly by the Crucible tryhards.

You should totally finish the game, you get a sweet pulse rifle! And by sweet I mean rare... and by rare I mean it'll waste space in your vault or you'll break it down for parts. ;3
Funny thing is my Hunter who is not as far along in the missions as my Warlock has technically "finished" the game and gotten the gun because I did a The Black Garden on a daily mission once. ;p I really should get around to beating the game and collecting all the chests and ghosts... I just... have better things to do, (in Destiny). heh

Actually I heard the Stranger's Rifle is decent for the Crucible if you're into that. It's amazing how you save the world from the Darkness etc and all you get is a rare pulse rifle. A legendary weapon would have been more suitable, like we do for TDB with Murmur.
So, Iron Banner has Ghelon's Demise. Worth it? As Nightfall is Omnigul no burns I might as well do Iron Banner to increase my Crucible marks in case there are good items ready for the next level cap. I have the Saterienne Rapier from the Crucible vendor anyway and the Calling with Firefly from an engram.

Iron banner has great rewards this time around!
Gauntlets and boots to save those radiant shards, and the scout and shotgun both have almost optimal perk combinations!
Firefly + armour piercing + outlaw scout rifle hammer forged + range finder combined with a high damage shotgun

I don't know if I'll bother with rank 5 for Gheleon's Demise even though it does have a great roll because I already have 3 Fangs of Ir Yut and a Fatebringer, which will work just as well for most situations and will be outright better for anything with an Arc burn. I will definitely be going to rank 4 for Felwinter's Lie though -- that thing will absolutely wreck in Crucible and should be great in PvE too with the upcoming buff.

Um........... let's be honest here folks... lemme slay the 500pd elephant on the board: No one give a $hit about the Iron Banner weapons, armour, or any other reward other than the shader.
How is the shader this time around?

How is the shader this time around? They're exactly the same as the last 4 times -- Million Million and Goldspiral. Event shaders don't change.

Yeah but isn't Goldspiral a good one for Warlocks? All I know is I want it, whether it's good or not I want to actually make rank 5 and buy ALL TEH STUFF!
But things at work not so great at the moment so I wouldn't be surprised if I just miss out on IB... Hell if I know right now...

Goldspiral + Warlock = ALL the shininess! It's not quite as cool on the CE armor, but it sure looks great on Voidfang.

Goldspiral is a god tier shader for Warlocks. Might as well rename it to Godspiral.
But no new shader? Why isn't the art department stealing the 1000+ models of ideas that I sent them and told them to use?

I played some IB tonight... I found it to be the least enjoyable PvP experience in Destiny to date. Extremely uneven experience with more lag than normal. I found my level 32 Warlock dying to level 27 and 28 guys in straight up 1-on-1 fights with unbelievable speed. Not sure what was going on. Don't think I went positive all night, which is definitely not the norm for me. Final verdict - not fun. Seriously doubting that I will hit rank 5 now.

If it will make people feel better, here's a tip
Lv 5 'Gheleons Demise' = RIP OFF
here's how to save 11,000 glimmer and a ton of time
Go get the Saterriene Rapier. You can just go buy it from the Cruciblr quartermaster. Identical perks and almost identical stars.

Well it might be handy for people who will not reach Crucible rank 3 any time soon considering the buffs you can get from the Tempar purchase plus the IB gear. I might get to rank 5 on each character since I started it from day 1 and this time I am handing in any completed bounties before I finish for the day, and use any rep buffs bought from previous events.

The Saterienne Rapier is just about the same exact gun (and maybe a bit better)

The Saterienne Rapier is just about the same exact gun (and maybe a bit better) Depends if you've never done Crucible before though. I can get 11,000 Glimmer in about 1-2 hours in the Exclusion Zone. That is still quicker than ranking up to Crucible rank 3 on some of my characters and then getting the Marks. But then I have been placing the architects that the Crpytach gives you Glimmer for into my vault for a while now and I am approaching 100,000 Glimmer in my vault. I wonder if it will limit me to buying one gun per character because it would otherwise save the grind to rank 5 on two characters since I have Goldspiral anyway.
