Nothing like doing some spring cleaning to get rid of the junk in the ol' back yard! Time to throw salt in the big ol' Sepik's Eye Ball and go down to the Devils Lair!!
Nightfall Mission modifiers are: Arc Burn - Arc damage from any source is greatly increased Epic - Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers. Nightfall - If all players die, your Fireteam is returned to Orbit. Lightswitch - Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage. Angry - Minions of the Darkness won't flinch, even after massive damage.
Weekly Heroic Strike modifiers are: Heroic - Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive. Lightswitch - Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.
As always, please use this thread to brag, bitch, and choose your layouts!

My rewards: 11 strange coins, another Helm of Inmost Light, and a Conduit pulse rifle I'll almost certainly be sharding.
I used Oversoul Edict, Patience and Time, and an Against All Odds with Arc/Field Scout/Surplus against the three waves of enemies, then switched to Fang of Ir Yut, Black Hammer, and Thunderlord before picking up ammo and doing the rest.

I love this raid, as it is the cheese that keeps on giving.
First time, we used the little room off to the left side. Extra old Cheddah here
Last time, we used the grate in the back left (I'll try to find a video) Old Cheddah EDIT: here it is
you get to it by jumping and going under the grate
Here's a new one (new to me at least)... mild cheddah.
Haven't tried it out but will later... make sure you have armour pierceing rounds as it will not break through the wall when doing so

You save some of that nightfalling for me later tonight Mr! Anywho... because it's exactly as it was last time, an Oversoul edict, mixed with some Patience and Time (with Icebreaker to regen) and some Against All Odds (arc, slow shooting hard hitting MG) will be the name of the game. I have a Fang, but it hasn't been leveled all at, as I've been working on my Suros first

We didn't need to cheese during the three runs I did...took him down extremely quickly. I don't know what the other guys were doing, but I was unloading on him with the Thunderlord. Unload on him, pop a bubble with Blessing when the Shanks come, take them out and then finish him off.

Nope, just popped a bubble right in front of the main entrance, and used the little covering right in front of there to the left.

Ran Polo II and III last night two weeklies last night, along with 8 bounties per character.
First run we had a wipe because I was running with 2 titans who insisted on Leroy jenkinsing the entire god gosh darn golly gee whiz run... they must have died 20 times. They at least had the common curtesy to die close to me though, so resing wasn't an issue... the only time they didn't, I got sniped, stealth vandal-ed, and the yellow named captain gangbanged me haaaaaaaaaard. After that, smooth sailing.
Second run, only one Leroy and the other guy and I took turns resing him. Everything went smoothly, except for the boss fight. I decided to try the wall glitch cheese spot and it works so so well. There is one down side though: you need armor piercing bullets... something that the icebreaker doesn't have. so, it was 8 shots with the LDR, switching to the ice breaker, waiting for regen, back to the LDR, 8 shots, repeat repeat repeat. It's a nice spot... very secure. Not nearly as quick as using the grate in the back.
Anywho... 18 coins, bunch of motes, a few extra coins, some mats from events and breaking down weapons, Suros is almost maxed... and most importantly: Polo III can res himself now. Booo. yah.
If any PSNBros are interested in a Nightfall or some raid runs... lemme know

Run 1: Solar LDR5001 (Unflinching, Field Scout and Firefly) Run 2: Apotheosis Veil Run 3: Obsidian Mind
Been after a solar LDR for ages as it frees up an exotic slot should I want it. Pity none of the Nightfalls have solar burn any longer it seems.

Actually, one of the good things about the LDR from the VG is that it has armour piercing bullets... essential if you want to do the wall hack cheese spot I showed above... which I used twice to satisfaction

That's pretty awesome run... so long as you're a warlock The stat rolls were inferior to what i already have but oterwise it was a good run. The solar LDR is actually handy for Deathsinger so I can free up an exotic for the launcher, as I usually use Truth. Sometimes I run with the Red Death in Roc strikes because randoms can play a bit dangerously so I healthgate so I can revive them etc.

Indeed... but another good thing about your Solar LDR is that (I'm going from memory here) but it's sold as a arc LDR at the VG... I remember that I could free up Patience and Time on some arc burn runs and still do well... I have a void and arc LDR... solid weapons, perhaps the best VG weapon sold since TDB came out

I did this nightfall this week solo. Did it with my Warlock. Took me around 34 minutes. You also don't need the Armor piercing stuff to do this. Just go sit under the grate a little further down. Use the BH or IB. Done. Fire away until the thing blows up. Sometimes this gets overthought to much.
So I did this. My reward? All I got was ONE fvcking item. A legendary scout rifle I had never seen before. That's it. Nothing else. Fvckingincredible.
This NF stuff is soooooo fvcking broken in this game. Compare the above bvllshit I got, with 34 minutes of effort. Compare that to reality that I can go solo the first three parts of the Crota raid and have them done (Abyss, Bridge, Thrallway) in like 20 minutes, pick up as many as ten shards, plus a few pieces of Raid gear. All that, in less time.

Nightfall is not broken at all. It is a chance at a good reward. If you don't want that chance, don't play it. Crota's end might be kinda broken, as in my opinion, you should not be able to solo it. Next to that, nightfall was easy and fun as hell this week.
This week was a good week for me. I got:
9 Energy (playing on a friends account which I am leveling)
Coiled hiss (dismantled) Some scout rifle without firefly (dismantled) Icebreaker (dismantled)
Now you ask, what is so good about that? I got my 2nd Gjallorhorn @ ir Yut!!! Still no black-hammer or fatebringer, but a second Gjallor makes up for that! It was raining Gjallorhorns this week. I saw 4 drop in the limited time I played this weekend... (my 2nd on Ir Yut, first for my friend from crota (he didn't have one yet), a 3rd for another friend from VOG chest, and another friend also got one, but he already had 3....).
That in ~ 10 hours of playtime is not bad at all!

Personally I feel like NF rewards are not in line with difficulty... For me even when I was playing NF was usually not worth doing unless Marko and another bro were there to run it with... which for me was fairly uncommon that it matched my schedule. I guess that's the point, though. That you need a good team. But even then it seems like you're forced to cheese the boss if not the waves as well.

I almost only play during the weekend lately, so my regular friends have already completed it. I simply use lfg sites. Very easy, and allot of fun to help some ppl out!
Solo it is a bitch, but with a decent team most Nightfalls are a walk in the park. If at least two guys have decent weapons.

Yeah I doubt I'll ever use an LFG site. It's a good idea, but I have too much social anxiety for it. I'm somewhat okay with strangers if I can just join them randomly via matchmaking and not have to talk to them, but actually going out to a website to find them makes me feel too awkward.
To be honest even hooking up with people on my friends list isn't easy. 9 times out of 10 I'll fire up Destiny, look at my friends list and see who's playing, and even though I see like 3 people there all in Destiny... I won't send a message. I don't want to pester people.
Marko's the only real exception, only because we actually talked about playing together on here before we did anything in Destiny and that smoothed it over, and now we've got enough history I feel okay with just dropping in on him. (In fact I used to have to since he wouldn't get my messages, heh.) I've also played a couple of times with Hawk so I'm semi okay sending him messages.
Destiny is an awkward game, socially. It's social enough that you need people, but does not provide any real means for getting to know people. MMO's are much easier for me, because there are more situations where you will actually talk to strangers and if your goals align you might work with them and talk together while doing so. The fact that you can do so with text chat instead of voice also helps. I don't want to voice with strangers... at all. I don't even plug my mic in for strangers.
But hey... that's my issues so I don't expect the game to cater to me. I'm just relegated to playing solo, pubs, or on rare occasions with friends from here... but not often enough to really rely on due to scheduling.
I've considered that 100 LFG thing where it sets you up with a small community of 100 people or so. I might do better with that. But I've put it off because I was getting by without, and I don't really want to pollute my friends list even further with people I don't actually know and won't send messages to or play with, ect.

They are almost always very thankfull when you complete it. I also only use a mic half of the time, seems to be no problem at all! It does screw up your friends list though.... I wish there was a way to make temporary friends or something . I just try to remove everybody I just played with lately. @ Marco: I am sorry man! I haven't seen one drop in a very long time as well. Until this weekend. Some of my friends have deleted/re-leveled at least 25 characters though.... So that is probably the reason they have that many Gjallors.

My point was that it took 34 minutes or so running it solo. And for that time spent, I got just ONE crappy reward, a lousy Legendary scout rifle. That's it. The coding should have more in it. Especially for solo runners. The loot odds table should NEVER have an option of dropping just one crappy legendary weapon. That's appalling. That's great if YOU got Gjallorhorns, but obviously not happening for me. I've never seen one in this game. It's the only weapon I don't have.
