Solstice of heroes is starting tomorrow at weekly reset, its a moments of triumph kind of event with 400 power armor to chase that has a glow on them. The glow shines brighter if you're using the corresponding subclass related to that color (void subclass with purple glow for example). Has lots of neat cosmetics in it, and the new armor looks neato burrito. Heres all you need to know: www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/47017Except you can't apply mods to them and the time you upgrade them fully you won't have much time to use them before Forsaken comes along. I guess if the mods aren't particularly powerful players could infuse them still and use them for PvE activities whilst having a modded set for PvP. Perhaps it's just me on this board but this Moment of Triumph I appear to be apathetic about. Every Moment of Triumph in Destiny 1 I completed and I looked forward to completing them, especially the first and last one (Laurea Prima and Valor of Darkness emblems).

Cant apply any mods at all or are you reffering to the fact that all Y1 armor becoming obsolete as they wont work with the new random rolled armor perk system coming with forsaken?

That they won't work with the new armour perk system, so I've read anyway. Apparently they can still be infused to the new level cap. I won't be wearing ugly armour if I can help it.

Imho, this armor is great for players who haven't caught up to 385 yet. They have the ability to grind some ~8 ish hours with their friends, and afterwards can do all the endgame activities they want. The grind is pretty fun too imho, at least on your 1st character (I stopped on my 2nd character green armor).

Yep, it's free. First two expansions half off as well. There are sales targets to hit for Forsaken.

Forsaken is decent. The encounters for the Barons are fun. Has that Rise of Iron feel to it so I assume Chris Barrett directed Forsaken too.

So - I was weak. I downloaded Forsaken. I haven't paid for anything. I can't remember if I even finished the sitting-bull DLC but I thought I'd try the warmind thing because, you know, reasons.
I think there's no chance now. Looks like I need to play the Forsaken game to level up gear. That's a grind I can't face as My stuff is at 300->320 - the new cap of 500 means a literal Foxtrotton of grind materials to have a hope of levelling anything.
Am I missing something? Tips? Delete it?)
What about the 100's of things in my vault? Ditch them?
Literally no idea how to play year 2 from hardly touching DLC 1.
Oh - if anyone has a clan can they invite me please?
Not convinced - I was tempted to stump up the cash for the year 2 as I'd heard reasonably positive feedback on year 2 D2. Not sure....

The update is really good imho. It solves a lot of problems with destiny 2. The grind is amazing, and the stuff you can do to grind up is great. Vast improvement to vanilla D2. Still some very frustrating things in the game overall (like PvP connection stuff) but this expansion is probably the best we have seen so far (including D1). toorosHonestly, I have no clue what you are trying to say lol. No chance for what? 300 gear is fine to grind up, you really only need to level your character, not power level, but actual XP level. Once you are lvl 50 you will get power 500 blues everywhere. That sets you up for at least 90% of all activities. You don't need a whole lot of materials, you just have to change your mindset towards infusion. Infusion is going to be an end game thing for now. Not just infuse every single piece of gear you feel like on a whim. I don't think a lot of people agree with me, but this is how it should have been imho. That gun or armor piece you really really loved? Infuse it and get that up there. One of the fun parts for RPG for me is making decisions that actually result in something. Deciding what to infuse is something I enjoy. What 100 things in your vault? You need to be a little more specific No idea how to play year 2? I mean, start the game and start the forsaken campain? Forsaken is the year 2? So you don't have it? Or do you have it? All in all, pretty confusing post there Tooros.... In general, this is one of the first destiny games/expansions where you could say, just play the game and activities you feel like, leveling will come naturally, at least for the first 10ish hours you don't need reddit/internet at all.

I feel you on the vault thing. I would say just melt everything but your highest light level stuff, and keep weapons that you like. It took me a solid hour messing with DIM and melting shit to mindlessly clear out my inventory. It's not worth stressing out over whether you'll wish you had something in the future. Maybe save one of each weapon type or something if you really want. As I went long stretches of the Forsaken campaign without any secondary slot sniper for example.
After finishing the campaign and not much post-campaign I feel like Forsaken is probably the second-best DLC they've done, after The Taken King. Of course what other real competition fits in that category? That just leaves Rise of Iron and then the piles of mid-year junk DLC.
So yeah, a lot of fun, Crucible gets me down as well, ridiculous connection problems are just part of it for me. I hate the design of Destiny PVP from top to bottom. Gambit is kind of fun but feels like it will get old really quickly. But I'm just not going to do Crucible. And then I can already see that the Exotic post-campaign quest blocks on some Crucible grinding that I'm just not going to do. I'm going to play PVP games I like, I'm not going to get suckered into playing PVP in Destiny. I wasted too much of my time doing that in D1, it's not a fond memory. Just make PVE alternatives for all this shit Bungie... I really can't understand why they try to unify PVP and PVE so much.

Sorry for the confusing rant gents. I guess I’m looking at a pile of inventory that could be a lot higher level had I kept playing before downloading forsaken. (I don’t have the actual dlc but the mechanics of upgrading and levelling are now subject to the rules of forsaken irrespective. Because the new mechanics are much, much harder to implement (with the masterwork and planet mats) than before I’ve made it hard for myself. I was thinking of buying the dlc but not sure now if I’ve made it so hard for myself that it’ll be a lesson in frustration. Going from gear @300 to 5 or 6 hundred using the new mechanics is going to be extremely time consuming in material farming. Especially over 3 dudes. I guess I’ll find a guide to get to grips with the new levelling and see if it’s feasible. It felt good to be back to be honest. There have been a lot of changes over the past year I can see. What happened to the clan by the way. Did I get booted or has it just dissolved?

I suspect Bungie will ease up on the infusion costs as they are hoping there are enough hoarders who are stupid enough to infuse their preferred weapons and armour more than required. Rather than constantly infuse stuff I keep higher light gear on my character and then infuse when there is a significant light level, such as 500 etc. The light level grind gets significantly slower once you hit 500.

PvP provides opportunities for people who don't raid. If that's directed at me, I have zero problem that people can level up in PVP. Hell, give them alternate Crucible requirements for the shit they don't want to do in PVE for all I care. They just need to stop acting like somehow their PVP and PVE exist in perfect harmony as some kind of seamless experience that everybody loves.

tooros, you really don't need to infuse your old weapons to level up. I haven't infused anything yet, and are at 525 and 523 on 2 characters. My 2nd character was also a pre osiris character btw, and the leveling went very fast. All you have to do is grind to level 50 (not light/power/gear level but xp level). Once you are close to lvl 50, every single blue drops at power level 500. So there really isn't much of a power grind up to 500, which lets you do almost everything. So if you want to pick it up, you can play just whatever you want to level up. If you decide to buy forsaken, the story takes you up at least 10 levels already. Once you are 500 light with blues you will start getting new legendary gear at 500 (and powerfull at 500+). Tldr; just equip the blues, don't infuse anything except for maybe one or two weapons you can't live without. p.s. the planetary materials can be bought from an NPC (which you have no access to though if you don't own forsaken) but the real barrier to infusion are the masterwork cores. @ Pegasus, I feel you. Destiny is not going to be my PvP game ever. I played a lot of trials in D1, and it was fresh, but I liked the thrill of having to win every single match, the pvp in itself is simply mediocre. Netcode and console sensitivity just don't feel good. That being said, the stuff you have to do for exotic quests are really minor compared to D1. All of these quest steps are done in 5 games or less. And that says something because I absolutely suck with hand cannons in crucible. If you really dread it, you can safe up till you both have chaperone and ace of space quest, as they can be done at the same time. Ace of spades is really good, but not a must have so I guess you can skip it.

Ace of Spades quest can take a long time as you need to kill an invader in Gambit with a hand cannon. I usually kill them with my energy or heavy weapon. I used to use Inaugural Address as my energy weapon and Sleeper Simulant as my heavy weapon but I swapped to Maxim XI and Whisper of the Worm instead. It seems to suit me better and I don't have to worry about purple bricks too much. The red screen is a bit annoying on some maps.

Yeah the gambit part is by far the most annoying one, especially because there are so many things out of your control. (will my friends kill the invader, will the enemy invade in the first place, does the invader have a super etc). But I am not sure if that would clasify as PvP, especially for pegasus, as he said he hated PvP but gambit is fun. Anyhow, the best weapon by far is sturm + drang imho. Kill adds with drang and kill invader with powered up sturm.
On the part of what old weapons you can dismantle; It seems some of you have not found the collections tab yet. You can pull out every single weapon you owned in Y1 from it. So the only weapons worth keeping are weapons you have masterworked (although dismantling them will get you cores) and weapons you would like a certain burn on (arc/void/solar) that is NOT the burn it has in collections (it is a set burn now for every weapon). But in reality, you can dismantle them all I think. If you find out you really like that weapon, you can always pull it out and masterwork it again.

Got a Seed of Light on my Hunter from a tier 2 offering from the Blind Well. Used it for the new solar subclass because for some reason I decided to use it for the new void subclass first.

I'm not real impressed with the look of the new void Hunter, but I'm not sure if I'm going solar or arc on my hunter...both seem pretty cool. Went with the new void skill tree on my Warlock, will probably go void on my Titan as well (been hearing some surprising things about that subclass when it's fully upgraded).

Yeah I thought about doing the new Arcstrider super first but I figured there would be a certain limit to reflecting enemy fire, like splash damage. So I held off using them for my Warlock and Titan until a fair bit later until I found out the Seed of Light drops from the Blind Well. Then I unlocked the new Stormcaller super and the new Defender super. I'll be wanting the new Sunsinger super next seeing it in use for Blind Well. I was going to do that before the Stormcaller one but I figured the raid will keep is fairly mobile judging from the encounters with the Barons.
