Sounds like you're off to a good start! I'm not entirely sure what level you need to hit to be able to jump into Crota's End -- the lowest I can recall seeing was in a Warlock solo Abyss video and that guy was 27, but 25 or 26 might be enough. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the Eris/Xur/Urn quest as you'll be replacing those gloves ASAP anyway. I think your best bet is doing Iron Banner up to rank 4, knowing that it's going to be frustrating (but worth it) since you're underleveled, and buying the level 32 boots and gloves from that. That will almost certainly be enough to get you in to Crota's End, and we can carry you from there. Hopefully Xur will have a helmet or chest this weekend or you can get them to drop for you in the raid. That should get you to 30 or 31, and then it's just going to take some material farming to get enough sapphire wire to upgrade everything so you can hit 32.

Iron banner has great rewards this time around! Gauntlets and boots to save those radiant shards, and the scout and shotgun both have almost optimal perk combinations! Firefly + armour piercing + outlaw scout rifle hammer forged + range finder combined with a high damage shotgun Indeed. I don't know if I'll bother with rank 5 for Gheleon's Demise even though it does have a great roll because I already have 3 Fangs of Ir Yut and a Fatebringer, which will work just as well for most situations and will be outright better for anything with an Arc burn. I will definitely be going to rank 4 for Felwinter's Lie though -- that thing will absolutely wreck in Crucible and should be great in PvE too with the upcoming buff.

Double jumping with either higher jump or better control does not break invisibility. If it did, there'd be no way to get up to Crota's platform while remaining invisible. Using Blink, however, does break invisibility.

Ok. What did Witty mean by no cool down? From my limited remembering, aren't all supers basically 15 seconds long? Then the modifiers or equipment level perks sometimes adding additional length? When you're using your super, you can reuse the Vanish ability as often as you want until your super meter runs out. That's what Witty meant.

So you have your super charged....hit RB+LB...go invisible...and there's no time limit to it? You can just keep going invisible over and over, and the super never gets depleted? No. Your super depletes at a set rate just like it would on a Sunsinger. I don't know the exact duration, probably 10 seconds or so for your super meter to run out.

The basic layout is this:
1. Kill (or almost kill) Swordbearer while on ledge. Pop super, hit RT (or whatever "shoot" is for you) to go invisible -- must have the Vanish perk selected. 2. Jump down and run to sword, hit RT again to refresh invisibility while next to sword, then pick up the sword. 3. Get to rock, call out for damage on Crota, and immediately jump up while still invisible. 4. Combo, Combo, Slam. The combo is RB-RB-RT (melee-melee-shoot), Slam is RT (shoot). So the full sequence is RB-RB-RT, RB-RB-RT, RT. 5. Press Y (switch weapon) to drop sword, melee Crota to go invisible -- must have Escape Artist perk selected. 6. Pick sword back up, wait for fireteam to drop Crota's shield, repeat steps 4 and 5, then bail out back to the safe room. 7. Repeat all of the above on the next sword.

Video on the 2 sword kill "combo combo slam" method we used last night for any prospective Bladedancer sword runners out there. The only thing to add is to use your super and go invisible when leaving the ledge just to be on the safe side.

The above is pretty lame. You can see I am out of things to do in this game, when all three of my Warlocks might soon have three to four exotic pieces each in their armor settings, to swap freely with during a game. Time to start a Hunter! The more sword runners the merrier!

Yeah, from everything I've seen, heard, and read, including what you just said IW, I can tell it's just not for me. I tactically loiter way too much, LOL. THebb and I are the MW2 sniper or LMG douches who run scavenger and claymores and literally don't move for a whole game except to put down YET ANOTHER claymore after the same person has blown themself up 5 times in the same spot. We're goofy like that. Not all the time, mind you, but a decent amount. I was generally either full stealth tac-knife/run and gunning OR sitting in one place piling up kills for 10 minutes, without a whole lot in between.

If you guys are going to play CoD, why not go the new one? Because I'm not going to shell out $60 for a game that I've thought looked like garbage from the first reveal, that I have no interest in and would never play on my own, and that this board almost universally agrees has the worst lag/connection issues in the history of the series. I'd just end up fuming the whole time due to BS lag-related deaths, and it wouldn't be fun for anyone. Trust me. I watched your experiment laggy death vid you posted earlier in the CoD forum, and I'm not going to subject myself to that. I'd break too many things. LOL.

On a related note, for the bros on XONE: With HoW still months out and Destiny is getting uninteresting by the week until then, maybe we should find another game that we can play together? I like our group dynamics and it will be great if we can transfer that to other games. I was thinking Evolve that there was no interest. How about Borderlands? Another game to consider: "The Division", but it is still a long way away, probably won't be released until Q4 or even later. I dunno about new games, but if we're talking older stuff, how about Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? LOL. I also have Battlefield 4 for the XONE that I haven't played in a year. Evolve looks pretty cool, but honestly the whole mega pre-order/DLC/bonus stuff fiasco totally turned me away from it. Maybe I'll reconsider if other bros have high opinions of it, but as you said, nobody seemed to show that much interest lately.

hebbnh: The page is showing Efrideet's Spear and Silimar's Wrath. Silimar's Wrath is one of those AR's that's great for tickling enemies. Field Scout does raise the mag to 84 and total capacity to 1,000 though. Efrideet's Spear is a really nice sniper, tied with Black Hammer for highest impact in the category. I have one with Arc and Firefly that puts in work. Super. Just what we need -- another garbage AR, because we can't buy those from multiple factions already. I'm sure the Spear is great, plus I could actually use an arc sniper, but it'll probably require rank 4 and that just ain't happenin' unless I get extremely bored next weekend. C'est la vie.

I'll second what bradman said, IW, because I'm getting to that point also where the "I HAVE to do Nightfalls and 3 HM Crotas and Weeklies and HM VoG too if possible!" thing is dying out. I have all the CE raid weapons I want fully upgraded. I have 3 level 32 characters. I don't really have a reason to log on every day or every other day anymore, because I don't need to do bounties, dailies, etc to level stuff up. It's mostly done already. I'm missing the Crux of Crota (like it matters...) and the CE fusion rifle, I'm still looking to get some raid armor with different/better stat rolls in a few places, and I'm still hoping for some new exotics once in a while, but I'm to the point where I just don't care that much. I'll get that stuff when I get it, and if I don't, it's no big deal. There's new stuff coming soon enough. I guess averaging between 3-4 hours a day every day for 5 months will do that, LOL. And that's on the low end compared to you, Post, Kakashi (who has almost double my playtime I think), and plenty of others, I'm sure. I'm actually surprised it took me this long to start burning out a bit. I usually only last about 2 or 3 months on one game before scaling back on it big time -- playing with the bros here is the biggest reason I'm still playing so much, so that's a credit to you guys! All that being said, I'm sure I'll still be on every Tuesday and Thursday at a minimum for Nightfalls and raids, but a lot of the other stuff is going to get cut way down. There's just not much point in doing weeklies when I have 100+ coins and nothing to buy, bounties when there's nothing to level, and so on. I guess I could farm marks or materials to get stocked up for House of Wolves, but meh, that sounds boring right now. Maybe Iron Banner next week will have something good -- Jolder's Hammer would be a nice addition to my arsenal -- that sucks me back in for a while.

300 Praedyth's >>> 331 Ice Breaker due to the void burn. Use your ammo up, switch to IB to regen when needed, then switch back is your best bet.

Thursday THURSDAY Thursday!!! Who's in for some CE domination? I have 3 Thrallway/Deathsinger checkpoints if we want to do hard mode. No normal checkpoints but it's not like that really matters anyway. What say you?!?!
1. HebbNH 2. THebb22 3. Witty 4. Mal - probable 5. 6.

Is there a straight up TDM style PVP in Destiny? 99.9999999999999999999999999% of my PVP history has been doing Core TDM in CoD. Destiny doesn't have that... does it? There sure is -- Clash would be the game mode you're looking for. 6v6 TDM.

Since the overlapping time window between Mal and I will be relatively short (~ 1 hour), it would be great if you guys can duplicate Crota checkpoint on hard for some characters ahead of time (at least make sure we have 1). Of course, if you guys can find somebody else before I join, just go ahead without me. I already had 2 normal and 1 hard completed in this weekly cycle, which is pretty good. Let's get Mal as many done as possible. I just confirmed that I do still have a hard mode Crota checkpoint, so hopefully we can knock that out pretty quickly.

Eh...lots of people complained about it being cheap or OP (cheap sure, OP no, not even close, sorry), but I never thought it was that big of a deal. If it was really that good of a tactic then everyone would be doing it all the time, but I never found a lobby with more than one or two people at most running a class like that. Then again I pretty much only played TDM so maybe it was just that much worse in other game modes.
Outside of that I always appreciated that almost every weapon seemed to have a niche or an obvious intended use, and most were fairly balanced -- a far cry from later games where there was no reason to deviate between a select handful of guns, ever, unless you were bored or wanted to gimp yourself on purpose. I also liked how so many different playstyles were actually viable. Marathon/Lightweight/Commando Tac-knifing? Check. EXPLOSIONS? Check. Silenced/Cold-blooded/Ninja stealth action? Check. SPAS-12 shotgunning all game? Check. Claymore yourself into a sniping spot and wait for the other team to repeatedly blow themselves up in the exact same spot over and over again just for the trollololols? Check. Or just play like a "normal" person with your AR/SMG? Check. There really was something for everyone IMO.

If I understand correctly about what you guys said yesterday: if CE hard is completed first, defeating Crota on CE normal will NOT drop the raid special/heavy weapons, right? In other words, for bros who still need these weapons, they need to kill Crota on CE normal first every week before doing it on CE hard. @mal: I'll try to get on earlier if possible, like 5:30ish, so we can do CE hard together. Before that maybe you guys can help mal with a few CE normal runs or do one 5 man Atheon on hard (Mal should have the CP). BTW, this week besides Thursday I should be able to also play on Tuesday and Wednesday evening (before 10pm). How about we go ahead and plan for next cycle's raid run as well? Correct regarding weapon drops. I want to complete 5 or so bounties on my Hunter to finish off leveling the Don't Touch Me gauntlets, and then I'm good to help whoever do whatever they still need. I'm in for Tuesday/Thursday.

I should still have one Crota and one Deathsinger checkpoint on hard. Hopefully completing normal with those characters didn't mess that up. I'd read a thing or two on Reddit about normal mode checkpoints overwriting hard mode for some reason, so we'll see I guess. On the other hand, I think we do have a few people that still need the first two sections on hard, so maybe we'd be better off just starting fresh. It's not like those sections take very long anyway.

Since Marko brought up MW2, I've actually been thinking lately about throwing that in for some retro fun. Maybe a combination/mishmash of CoD4 and MW2 or something? Any other XBros interested in that idea?

how can we get anything on hard, when we used up our stuff on normal? We did two normal finishes last night. Normal mode = normal drop only. Hard mode = normal drop + hard drop (except that normal mode weapons WILL NOT drop in hard mode). So if you complete normal, you can still go back and get your hard mode drop on hard. If you complete hard first, you CAN'T go back and get drops on normal because you already got the normal and hard drop from hard. VoG works exactly the same way.

I enjoy it as well, although it does seem maddeningly inconsistent -- lots of connection/lag issues for me. I'm usually too busy with nightfalls, weeklies, raids, bounties, etc. to put much time into it. I don't have any issue with the current implementation of heavy ammo and supers. I don't really see it as being much different than the necessity of controlling power weapons in Halo or kill streak rewards in CoD.

We all got the exotic chest x3 and Atheon kill x 3. Unfortunately Mal had to leave before we could finish Atheon the first time... Huh. Apparently I was the limiting factor. Oh not at all. I think it was just a combination of general rustiness (since we hadn't done VoG in a while) and improper weapon selection (it was kind of spur of the moment and I didn't have any oracle-specific weaponry on me except VoC). When Witty went back and changed stuff out I did as well. Murmur was working ok, but Praetorian Foil made oracles a cakewalk.
