Thanks for the invite to the party/group last night. I waited around for a while you were doing the VoG....I was doing a Weekly, but got a bit bored. Then went to play CoD. How did it go? We all got the exotic chest x3 and Atheon kill x 3. Unfortunately Mal had to leave before we could finish Atheon the first time, fairly shortly after you got in the party. Tried to get you in but to no avail.

In retrospect, I wish we had done easy mode Crota. That was not particularly productive for me. Same here, but it was fun at least. I don't think I'll be on much, if at all, either today or Saturday, but the wife is heading out of town early Sunday so I'll probably be on all day after that. Same deal Monday after work. I don't really have anything to do solo besides level up the Don't Touch Me gauntlets, so if you (or anyone else, for that matter) want help on Nightfalls, Weeklies, or the first couple sections of CE (hard or normal), just let me know. If we get 3 people that's probably good enough for a full CE normal run.

Yeah...I was gonna say...Glasshouse and Don't Touch Me both have excellent rolls. Solid buys if you don't have them, and possibly still solid even if you do have them already. I missed out on Don't Touch Me the first time, and passed last week due to the abysmal roll, so I'll be picking those up for sure. Achlyophage and Sunbreaker rolls aren't too bad either if you somehow haven't gotten those yet.

One more point in favor of normal CE: We need to train some more guys to run the sword against Crota, Hunters in particular. The strategy we've used to great success on hard that Witty alluded to works quite a bit better with an invisible Hunter since they won't draw any aggro from Boomers, and normal is a much more forgiving place to learn than hard.
We could also attempt flawless raider on normal eventually. It won't be easy, but I think this group is perfectly capable of doing it with some practice.

That's the thing. I still love to play this with friends. And there is a lot to do there. These raids have been a blast. But..... this game is creating a situation with a lot of people, having VERY specific needs. Even with our own Xbox group...we have people who need Crota and VoG. On Crota, we have people who need Normal runs, some who need Hard runs. And then further splitting this up, we have people who want to focus on the end part of Hard, others the beginning. It becomes tough to coordinate all the above. It can become a bit exhausting lol. This has definitely become more apparent recently. A big part of that is that Deathsinger and Crota require 5+ people and (usually) a decent time commitment, while the Abyss and Bridge can be done solo in 15 minutes to half an hour. THebb and I have been 2-manning those sections on Tuesdays since the hard mode released, which I think is getting us a little disjointed from the rest of the group. You're right though, in that it's hard enough just to coordinate 6 people grouping up in the first place, and now having some conflicting goals just makes that even tougher to get everyone on the same page. Different weapons dropping on normal and hard doesn't help much either. It would've been nice if Bungie had allowed the normal mode Crota weapon drops to also drop in hard mode, but not at the expense of the hard mode drops. Something where if you get lucky, you could get both Black Hammer and Word of Crota from one hard mode drop, instead of the either/or proposition it is now that forces you to run normal mode if you want any chance at certain guns. Personally the only hard mode drops I still need are the Crux of Crota and whatever the hard-only ship is (Bane of something I think). After that I'm fine with just doing normal all the time since it's completely stress-free and generally a lot more fun in my experience.

Looks like we have 5 already then -- Me, T, Mal, Witty, and Stone. Good deal. Beavenge is on vacation, so hopefully we can get Post, Aroc, or Kakashi to fill out the group.
If anyone wants/needs to get the Abyss or Bridge sections done, let me know. I can jump on with my Hunter and help you out before the full group gets together.

For people with Gjallar, almost all other exotic weapons are optional . Having them just adds more dilemma when choosing weapons. In general, I am a little bit concerned about Bungie's creativity on coming up with attractive weapons. As we have already touched on several different threads: 1) DLC 1's exotics are of poorer quality vs. the stock ones; 2) CE's raid weapons are lackluster compared with VoG raid weapons; 3) In particular, Crux of Crota is not in the same league as Vex Mythoclast (which itself is no longer highly desirable because of its 323 attack) 4) Not to mention that the existence of Gjallar pushes most exotic weapons into "shelved" state. Despite my repeated attempts to convince people that the purpose of playing this game is fun first, loot second, it is clear to me that the motivation for the majority of the players are loot driven. When none of the new loot look attractive, people quit playing. I'd disagree on #2 there. The way I see it: Abyss Defiant >>> Atheon's Epilogue. Oversoul Edict >= Praedyth's Timepiece (though they're both bad, realistically). Fang of Ir Yut >= Vision of Confluence. Word of Crota <<< Fatebringer. Black Hammer > Praedyth's Revenge (for PvE at least). Swordbreaker < Found Verdict (though neither sees serious use in PvE anyway). Hunger of Crota >> Hezen Vengeance. I don't have experience with both LMGs and both Fusion rifles, but it looks like Light of the Abyss = Praetorian Foil, and Song of Ir Yut < Corrective Measure. So taken as a whole, I think CE's weapons are at least on par with VoG weapons. There isn't one standout "must have" weapon like Fatebringer, but Abyss Defiant, Hunger of Crota, and Black Hammer are all very good.

Well, that's two Deathsingers and one Crota down, one Deathsinger and two Crotas to go. Easily could have been two Crotas down, but I'm an idiot and didn't self-rez when I should have. Stupid mistake, but c'est la vie! Try again Thursday I guess? Maybe some VoG afterwards if things go smoothly? Who's in?

Dumien, HebbNH, and myself ended up three-manning the entire normal raid. It was pretty much a cakewalk. Pics or it didn't happen.

I should be on tonight. I need one HM Crota and one Weekly Heroic and that's about it. Otherwise I'll just be doing bounties to level up the Word of Crota I got yesterday, so I can help with whatever, just let me know.

I guess it's not proof, per se, but it's DeeJ (aka the Community Manager from Bungie that always does the weekly update) flat out saying it isn't random, and that there's a plan, and that there are guys in charge of what Xur is selling. It's probably the best evidence we'll get outside of access to the game's code.

Great runs today guys. Sorry about getting overzealous with the sword and doing too much damage! I think it's safe to say the center ledge method should probably be our go-to strategy going forward. That worked really well, even better than I expected really.

Yeesh, yeah that sucks. I used to attempt to solo a Nightfall once in a while, but there's not been much point after they upped the difficulty for solo players and made it easier for teams. It's just so much easier and less risky to team up. I think Witty was still looking to do them -- maybe you guys can team up?
You can still solo the first two sections of Crota's End on hard (if you don't have them done already, that is). It's not even all that much harder to do than on normal. That's what I did on my 3 characters this afternoon since nobody else was on anymore.

On the get together front, what's everybody's desired timeframe to do raid for the remainder of this week? I am available all Sunday. Monday night is a maybe. Out for the rest of the time. I think that several bros are available on Saturday. You guys might be able to get together and raid. The wife was supposed to go out of town this weekend but changed her plans due to incoming winter weather, so my timeframe isn't really set in stone. I expected to have all weekend for Destiny but I don't think that's happening now! That being said, I think I should be available off and on Saturday and early Sunday before football. I could probably make Monday night work too.

TheHawkNY: Yeah, would make some sense at least for a while, but that also falls under "otherwise manipulating Xur's inventory" as far as I'm concerned. Also, a higher chance to sell new items is all well and good for a few weeks, until you end up with the situation we have now, where all those "new" items have been sold multiple times, to the point that anybody that really wants them probably bought them already on one of the other two or three occasions they were sold. Meanwhile, Vanilla items like HofPF that people have been chasing since release and would buy in a heartbeat have still never appeared at all, and the chance of them appearing is decreasing with each DLC release. That sucks, honestly, and if that's what they're actually doing it's pretty shortsighted. That wouldn't surprise me at all though. Adding heavy synths to the loot tables in CE hard mode would be a nice change. Hell, add them to all raid loot tables as far as I'm concerned!

I don't know, been reading up on it on Reddit. Definitely sub par for using it like a regular RL, but those solar flares can be useful. Lots of bosses don't move, for example, and will take lots of extra damage, and I could pair this with a voidfang solar grenade build for massive zoning power. And I did get those 10 coins from NF and can still get 9 more from weekly so I kinda like the novelty. On the other hand I need another exotic shard now. I decided to spend some of my marks that I couldn't spend on weapons, (because commendations) on some resources and level up some gear. Normally I just go run patrols and farm resources, but I just wanted to do something and didn't have an hour or more to farm so eh... I also know I'll get more marks before I get enough rep for another commendation so I might as well spend some. I've already hit the vanguard marks cap once. So the result is I've maxed out my Claws of Ahamkara and need a shard, plus I leveled up my chest armor to the max without AS and can now use exotic gloves at level 30. Yay! I think I worked out that if I get my 9 from the weekly I'll have 25, which sounds like a lot, but isn't. That is enough for a shard and the RL, but would leave me only 1 coin going into next week... hmmm... I could wait on the shard and get the RL... Or just skip the RL. Thing is.... I love solar grenades and it kind of really appeals to me. If you only have 25 coins, just skip Dragon's Breath. You won't be missing out on anything, trust me.

So Xur has still never sold the Heart of the Praxic Fire or the Skull of Dire Ahamkara. I have both but it would be good to be in games with Warlocks who can produce a fair amount of orbs. Instead if I enter the Raid with Starfire Protocol users it is more of a hindrance because of the ammo bug in the game. Oh and heavy ammo synthesis has not been sold since hard mode Crota's End has been out. To play devils advocate: 1) Xur did sell the Obsidian Mind, which is very similar to the SoDA (but I fully admit, is not as cool looking) 2) My expertise is limited, but is the HotPF that good? 3) Heavy synthesis is not that rare... shit, I have 36 of them. Buy them from Banshie. 1. Yup. Obsidian Mind is probably better anyway. Neither HotPF or SoDA is going to help you produce a ton more orbs than you would otherwise. 2. No, at least not from what THebb has said, and he's one of the very few people I know who actually has it. Basically you get to throw 2 or 3 more grenades during your Sunsinger super. You already get to throw 7 or 8 -- is a couple more really that big of a deal? It's not bad by any means, but I think its rarity has led to a lot of people inflating its value quite a bit. 3. Yeah...36 synths ain't shit when you're popping them all the time in Crota's End hard mode, and dropping 10K every couple days to restock is stupid. For anything else, sure, but we shouldn't have to go grind Exclusion Zone for an hour to make up for the synths used while spending an hour fighting Crota.

mannon: It's ok I guess if you have coins to spare, but if you don't have a bunch saved up I'd just skip it. It's really nothing special, and you'll be mad if you buy it this week and then something good shows up next week that you suddenly can't afford. From what I've seen, no, Sunsinger perks will not affect anything.

Mk 44 Stand Asides, Don't Touch Me, Starfire Protocol, Dragon's Breath. all DLC items for sale. No heavy ammo synthesis. Totally RNG. /s Because it's mathematically impossible to randomly pick all DLC items to sell. /s But seriously though...yeah, I don't think there's any way they're NOT hand-picking or otherwise manipulating Xur's inventory at this point. I was all aboard the RNG bandwagon a few weeks ago, but there's just no way they're going to convince anyone that having all DLC items 3 times in 8 weeks is random. Even if it was (and it could be for all we know) nobody would believe it. That makes it all the more aggravating that Xur hasn't had heavy ammo in a while. It's almost unfathomable that they haven't used that as a way to help mitigate the effects of the heavy ammo bug. At the very least let him have it every other week or something instead of once every 4 or 5 or however long it's been now.

Cool -- the Stealth was my 2nd choice after the one I ended up getting. I skipped the hair triggers and only got 2 paddles, but I think mine still ended up being $160 or something insane. I set my paddles up as the A and X buttons so I can jump, reload, and revive without having to take a thumb off the right stick. Probably not hugely beneficial but it is pretty nice to at least be able to revive and aim/return fire at the same time if necessary, and it does make accurate jumping somewhat easier. They'd definitely be more useful in CoD or Battlefield if I ever start playing them again.

Well on their website they had some stupid fancy name for each controller based on colors or features or somesuch. Like an all black one was the Stealth, yellow and black was the Hornet, stuff like that. I think mine was an Elite, whatever the matte grey one is called. Or did you just send in a standard controller and have them upgrade it?

Beav is correct. I'm guessing the perk is hidden and forced off for the time being, but still benefits from the XP gain so when/if they fix the bug causing white nail not to proc correctly, you'll be able to buy/equip the perk immediately instead of having to level the gun up some more.
