Invigorate had a 31 to complete the raid. I'm assuming they went in with 6 30s while the 7th guy leveled up his stuff over the course of several hours to hit 31. Then they brought the 31 in to finish things off. Right, Bungie did say that they are a group of 7. When I read the tweet it seemed odd, it all makes sense now. It is a great strategy to have 6 + some reserves for the 1st-to-finish-race, since players with enough resources can just buy their way into level 31. When the next expansion pack comes out, we will see race groups of 12 tackling it. 6 going in at level 32, while 6 others focusing on reaching level 33. By the time Team A reaches level 33 enemies, team B can swap in and keep going.

I think Hebb's theory may be correct considering Bungie did said that they used 7 players to complete it.

I think getting halfway done is definitely a realistic goal. We'll find out tomorrow! As far as Gjallarhorns, it sounds good at first, but I'm worried about constant swarms of thralls that could make it really difficult to use launchers without blowing ourselves up in the process. I just see this raid being a lot more chaotic than VoG was, where you pretty much always knew where enemies were coming in from, especially if darkness is an issue. I also doubt that Invigorate's problem was a lack of firepower, and I don't think they would've bothered bringing in a 31 if it was actually doable for 30s at this point. Not trying to be a downer, just trying to be realistic. I'm really excited to give this a crack tomorrow night!

I said this offline, but my goal isn't to finish. It's just to recapture that feeling of exploration. Where I can suspend my reality for a few hours and immerse my self in a new world. We all paid money for this DLC. The BEST way to get our money's worth, is to experience it HOW the developers intended it to be done. Going in and trying it, with no knowledge of what to expect. I want to have this feeling, at least for one evening.
that's the problem with spoilers, or having one or more people in the group telling everyone what to do. It crushes the above feeling. That gaming experience you are immersed in, gets obliterated when you know where the bounderies are, where the spawns are, what will be coming, and most importantly, where to stand and what to do.
There will be plenty of time in the next month to follow scripted moves and mechanics. Dissect and break down the game, pulling the curtain off of things on how it works. I just want the fun immersion on Thursday.
And if I am repeating myself up there, sorry. But I am trying to stop people from posting spoilers. Post/Dumien already put up an entire 'how to do it the CsE' explanation on this board. (Post...please hide that for two more days1!!!!))) I know there are plenty of these off this sight, but now it's on this place too. And it's human nature to look. It's tempting. But I know I am not going too. And if it were just me running solo, I wouldn't give a fvck who does what or looks where. To each his/her own. But my 'fun' on Thursday depends on five other people playing along with the above concept.
I tried explaining the above to Aroc...but had no success. He might go at it tonight. He didn't see what the big deal was, and kind of was like "I doubt i'll finish, what difference does it make?". Same thing with Bluntz. He couldn't even finish the first couple of Mission on hard mode, got frustrated, and then just went the LFG route so he could be one of the front runners into the Raid. Watching his profile last night, his group broke up in an hour or so. Fail. I wouldn't dare bring him in with me. He'll do nothing but lecture everyone on what is going to happen and what we should all do.
Edit....I don't view the whole 30 vs 31 vs 32 thing to be a spoiler. If anything, that can help ease frustrations and put some reality/perspective on the process.

Well, for whatever it's worth, I'll be playing along. Like I said in another thread, the only things I've seen are extremely minor. No idea on mechanics, what to do, where to go, anything. Same for THebb. Sounds like the same for Witty. Tomorrow is definitely going to be fun!

I don't think we have anything to worry about. As Heb said in the other thread: people who want to go in blind will avoid spoilers and actually go in blind. IMHO it is totally fine to post spoilers/guides on the board, as long as they contain an obvious spoiler alert. I would like them ready to be read, once I am through the first exploration.
Our first order of business is to find 2 more players that want to go in blind on Thursday. So far we only have 4, and as it stands right now we may have to go to LFG, which could be quite random and less ideal. And if we can't do the blind exploration this week, it is probably never going to happen.

I certainly sympathize with that sentiment. Hell that's the same reason I've largely avoided spoilers of even VoG. I haven't run it yet and while I've seen what some of the bosses look like and have heard about the portals and relic and some things, I don't know a whole hell of a lot about it. I'd really rather just go experience it and fail a lot for a bit before I get down and dirty with looking up strategies. That's also why I just jump strait into weekly strikes totally blind even though I haven't completed the game. The first time I have run every strike other than Devil's Lair has been my first time seeing that strike at all. I also mostly try to avoid cheesing. (I've made an exception for the Venus Nexus strike because I completed it the first time without cheesing and using the tunnel isn't complete cheese. Clearly there's a minotaur that spawns there for a reason.) I'm also trying to avoid most of the CsE spoilers, though I am glad to know about the levels thing.
Of course I'm also wary of my odds of any crew wanting me along without studying up more on VoG and by the time I'm ready for CsE I think it'll be the same thing. Nobody will want a raid noob to carry unless they have maxxed out weapons and at least know what the jobs are, ect...
Having said that, I think it is perfectly legitimate to compartmentalize spoilers within a thread that very clearly says spoiler in the subject. Yes, people may be tempted to look, but it's up to them. If some people want to talk about spoilers and some people want to read those spoilers, well... they're within their rights to do so. They're even, mostly, being courteous about putting it in the spoiler thread. (I say mostly because some other spoilers have slipped out to other threads, mostly in discussions of what was and wasn't a spoiler, but still...) Yes anyone who wants to talk spoilers could just go to Reddit where you've got tons, but Reddit isn't our community, it has it's own community. Personally I only like to dabbled there... It's like trying to drink from a firehose, and most of it's bleh or butthurt.
Anyway... Hopefully we can at least contain the raid spoilers to the appropriate thread.

Thank you!
Dangling spoilers out there like that is like opening up a donut shop across the street from a Jenny Craig clinic.
...and mannon, no one is upset and we all get it's within everyone's rights to put up spoilers thread. But it's also not a bad thing to ask if they can be hidden for a day or two? Is it? Like I said up there, it's human nature to take a sneak peak at it and the longer they are up, the harder it gets. And like I said, all it takes is one person (of six) to spoil it during the raid.

I'm cool with that as long as he is and like I said I'm on the non-spoiler end of this whole thing as well... although I will probably wind up reading spoilers, because I expect a lengthy recounting of your group's soon to be legendary journey through the raid, but how could I not live vicariously through you guys. heh If I were on XB I'd be grinding as hard as I could to try to get level 31 and join yous guys.
As is I don't think there's a PS4 crew doing it that would have me so I'm just waiting for Xur and hoping to do the weekly for some coins. That's about all my goals for the week unless I get a crack at the Nightfall with Marko as well.

Don't wait on my behalf. I'm not likely to find a group for raiding anytime soon and while I can probably hit level 30 this weekend and 31 fairly soon, I'm still a little light on weapons and I kinda want to run VoG first.

My intent with the Spoiler thread was to consolidate spoiler info into a discrete place. Spoiler info seemed to be trickling into multiple threads. By limiting it to one clearly labeled thread, it should make it easy to avoid spoilers. Seemed smart to me. I know I can resist reading the info. I am ready to attack this thing blind.
Also, my availability Thursday might be improving. I should have 5:00-7:30 open. Not ideal, but I can certainly help for a while. I'll check into opening more of the night for a solid 5 hour attempt.

Setup: after being underwhelmed by the new Vanguard weapons, especially the high fire/low impact ones, I have decided to rank up the New Monarchy faction because they have the only high impact autorifle to be found (or that I can find) Because I only read part of the details when playing destiny, I tend to not notice things until they are too late. For example, I noticed that I need 150 marks to get this weapon... but until last night, I never noticed a tiny detail.
I need 150 marks alright... 150 crucible marks.
Now, I haven't been able to tell for the past few days as I have been maxed on my marks, but I know my rep has been converting.
Question: Much like it converts my vanguard rep into NM rep, will my armband convert my vanguard marks into NM/Crucible marks? Or do I actually have to step into that wretched hive of scum and villainy known as Mos Eis... err, the Crucible?

Yeah... about that. It only converts rep. And sadly it looks like you can't sell resources for marks and rep anymore... (I'm glad you can buy resources, but why take away the ability to sell them? What else am I going to do with all this spinfuckingmetal?)
If you do bounties it's not so terrible, and maybe with a friend to jabber with as well? I'll do it with you. I've only got 100 crucible marks so I'll need another 50 at least and I could use the rest to buy some gorram helium. (Though I suspect converting crucible marks to helium is far less time efficient than just farming it so maybe I'll hold onto them for other faction items.
You might get lucky and get it as a gift for ranking up in the faction anyway, though. That happens.

So... how does one get crucible marks? Crucible matches, and bounties. Until recently you could also sell planet resources for both rep and marks, but no more... ;-(

I could sworn I checked to make sure it was regular marks Arg................... So... how does one get crucible marks? You need to play Crucible. You get three Crucible marks for winning, and two for losing. Bounties don't give Marks. Bounties only give Rep. Rep can be important though, because you also need a Crucible accommodation too, if you want a Crucible Quartermaster gun or gear. But typically, if you grind more than 50 marks or so, you will Level up just by the grind (and get a accommodation), and if you do bounties, the Leveling is pretty easy * *Note - You need to be Crucible level 2 or 3 to be able to buy Crucible weapons. So if you haven't done it yet, you are kind of screwed. You would have to level up from 0 to 1, from 1 to 2, and then go to Level 3....to be able to buy weapons. That might require more than the marks you get. ** Note 2 - Remember there is a 100 crucible cap too. So even if you can slug through sixty plus games, your mark winnings will cap out at 100, far short of the 150 you need. It then takes two weeks. *** Note 3 - Remember too, that if you take too long, any gun you get will be worthless and junked by say late February, when the next DLC comes out. So at some point, if this task is dragging, scrap it. 12 hours of doing a task isn't worth ANY gun in this game. The problem here is time here. Play fast game modes. You might squeeze in five games an hour. And try to win. If you win 60% of your games....you are looking at 13 marks per hour. About 11.5 hours of Crucible playing, about 60 games played. That's probably on the faster side of things.

He just needs the marks, not the rep, for a New Monarchy AR. I recommend doing at least the easy bounties anyway, though. As I always feel like time played without picking up bounties is wasting opportunity. You can at the very least use them to level up items and dismantle them for additional materials. Or for levelling up Murmur or something.
Marko, you still need to do the moon mission for Eris? You need to get Murmur. I know you're not a FR fan, but for a not AIDs inducing FR that also sounds and looks different it is a pretty cool guy. Plus it can be toggled between arc and solar so you could literally replace two fusion rifles with it.

I might try to solo it tonight or if you wanna do it with me, that'd be awesome too Actually, I've kinda like them now. I was doing it wrong; I was using them as a rifle (adsing and mqc)... instead, I use them as a shotgun/cqc style and enjoy it much more.

I'll run it with you if I can get on before you're gone, but don't wait for me. I'd rather you get to run it without me than wait and lose out. I know my playtime is pretty inconsistent.
Yup, that's the gist. They are fancy shotguns. Sometimes you can yank down as the burst goes off and get a better burst on more ranged targets. Mostly I just aim at the target's waist or so and let the recoil bring me up to a headshot. Some are better than others at range and charge time so experiment.

Setup: I got an exotic bounty offering and took it. It was the same one as I had done before, A Voice in the Wilderness to give me Super Good Advice. I did it for 2 reasons... 1. I like the weapon and if I get it again, but with a different damage type (I have solar already) that will be the bee kneez 2. If SGA is only solar, I will probably break down the updated, upgraded SGA that I currently have, for shards and other goodness.
Questions:
1. Does SGA come in other damage forms, and 2. Is this a "smart" thing to do, purposely duping it and breaking it down for mats?

Breaking down exotics for mats is good for the exotic shards. However it looks like rumors that a fully upgraded exotic would yield 2 exotic shards were not true. You still get just one as near as I can tell.

But that is the easiest exotic bounty to finish, so a fine choice if you need exotic shards. But there are some great guns from other bounties (Bad Juju!), so I really recommend taking a look at your options when offered the bounty choice.

Regarding the other exotic bounties... there's one issue I have is that... they involve going to do some PVP... which I am purposely avoiding doing. I do have the Bad Juju bounty, and have done 24 of the 25 strikes... I just don't want to do any crucible or IB. I didn't buy Destiny for the PVP... if I did, I'da bought COD:AW

Yes. Just play on the Daily Story Missions for Ascendant Shards instead. I keep getting energies though. I know... check_your_privledge_polo You can try your luck with public events. Sometimes you get a bonus award (this appears on your screen) after getting gold immediately after the event. I got 2 Ascendant Energies from taking out the Devil Walker in The Divide today. Also, check with the Postmaster for the first public gold event. Very, very rarely you will get upgrade materials (Ascendant Shard, Ascendant Energy, Motes of Lite and Strange Coins) from chests. I had an Ascendant Shard from a chest yesterday, also from The Divide.
