I've had a lot of missed jumps in PvP, but that's generally because the PvP maps are more cluttered and labyrinthian than the PvE maps which generally alternate between fairly open spaces with a bit of cover strewn about, and linear corridors. I also sometimes doubletap jump in a way that I question whether I registered both so I hit it again when I didn't need to and wind up turning glide off. heh Since I got used to claw grip I haven't really had trouble with doubletapping too slow, though.

another problem I have with blink... I can't (or haven't figured out yet) how to reload or shoot with it... Glide, no sweat I started a new Warlock last night, and I hate hate HATE Glide. Coming from a Titan with Lift, I'm not sure how it works at all. I can't wait for Blink. Any tips on using Glide? Hawk's Official Guide to Using Glide (Controls referenced are for PS4, modify accordingly) 1) Hit X to jump 2) While in the air, hit X again to activate Glide 3) Wait 4) Hit Square to respawn

I have hit Vanguard Rank 2 on all 3 of my characters, and about to hit Rank 3 on my hunter. I have a mutli-part question on legendary purchase:
1) The inventory of legendary weapons at Vanguard Master seems to have been pretty stable in the past 2 days. Do they ever change?
2) Which ones are worth getting? 150 marks are pretty pricy for me, so I need to be careful here. Should I even be bothered thinking about them considering now I can start doing Raid and Nightfall?
3) How about the offerings from factions? I am thinking about start enlisting my characters into factions to just change things up a bit. Is now a good time?
4) For faction reps/ranks: I assume both Vanguard reputations and Crucible reputations will contribute to that once I have a faction specific item equipped? How about marks? Looks like only Crucible Marks can be used to buy stuff from faction reps?

Looks like only Crucible Marks can be used to buy stuff from faction reps? 1) I believe that the weapons inventory at all 5 of the factions does not change, however the bonuses for the weapons will change. I'm not certain, but I believe each of the weapons has 2 sets of bonuses that they cycle through. I'm not sure the frequency. Does anyone else know? 2) In terms of purchasing, if you do not have a good legendary primary that you want to use consistently, I'd purchase that first. You definitely want to have a strong legendary primary, even if you have an exotic you like, because you will at times want to switch to an exotic secondary or heavy. Once you have that, you want to focus on secondaries and heavy weapons of each elemental damage. Since you plan on doing the raid, I recommend making sure you have some void damage weapons, specifically a launcher and a fusion rifle. 3) No. Get a character up to level 3 before doing factions. You're about to hit rank 3 on your Hunter, so that's one of the factions anyway. Also... 4) Yes, both Vanguard and Crucible reputation contribute, but you can only purchase from those vendors with Crucible marks.

Great thanks. Some follow up questions:
I have 1 legendary primary, Grim Citizen III. It is probably a tad weaker than Shadow Price (based on stats), but I am not sure significant enough to justify spending 150 marks to replace, especially after I invested the AE to fully upgrade Grim. Scanning through the primary, looks like "The Devil You Know" might be the best candidate for first buy?
I have two exotic snipers, Ice Breaker with solar damage and Patience & Time with arc damage. I have the Pocked Infinity bounty sitting in the slot until I can get 10 rare fusion rifles, and it also does solar damage. Looks like I really need to find a void legendary special or heavy. Any recommendations?
Regarding factions: do I really need to get all 3 of my characters to Vanguard Rank 3?

Hmmm. I'd say the Devil You Know is a good choice, but from what I've heard the raid hand cannon is better, so you might want to hold off on that purchase for a few runs. If you have a auto rifle you're comfortable with, I'd say purchase the Swarm from the Vanguard Armory, which I believe has Void Damage, and is a solid choice for an LMG. Hold off on special weapons, as there are some special weapons with void damage that can drop during the raid as well.
Do you play Crucible? Are you farming massive amounts of materials to trade for Crucible marks? If the answer to those is no, then there's no point in ranking up factions before Vanguard, as you won't be able to purchase anything anyway. Also, I believe it will be much quicker to get from Vanguard 2 to 3 than it will be to get to faction rank 3. You also can't go over 200 Vanguard marks, so if you hit 200 before you reach Vanguard rank 3 and are able to spend them on weapons, they're going to waste.

Q: what's the best way to farm glimmer? I have reached the point that I'll have to make getting glimmer a goal. Want to know the most efficient method nowadays after all the patches. I'm not sure what the most effective way is if you're looking to just earn as much glimmer as fast as possible. But doing public events and hitting all of the chests in an area while you wait for it to start will earn you some decent glimmer. Also, make sure to remember where the majors/ultras spawn, so you can get the 25 glimmer per kill. Also, when doing the raid, make sure to use your Blue Polyphages. You probably have a bunch just sitting there, and you'll be surprised how much extra glimmer you can earn.

Q: what's the best way to farm glimmer? I have reached the point that I'll have to make getting glimmer a goal. Want to know the most efficient method nowadays after all the patches. Depends on what you're able to do. The first mission on Mars is good, at least 9 majors in the first section. Make sure it's on hard otherwise there aren't any majors! Probably takes 5 minutes for around 250 glimmer before using any glimmer bonus consumables, which would bump that to 400 or so. Heroic strike is good for this week if you have any decent void weapons since void burn is the modifier. There are at least 10 Fallen majors in the first section there. Probably more efficient than Mars I'd guess. Also there's the 3 Hive guys that spawn in the Cosmodrome tunnels repeatedly -- just kill them, leave the tunnel, and repeat as necessary. If none of those sound appealing, just farm chests on whatever planet you need materials from. They're usually worth 40 or 50 glimmer apiece and you can grab a bunch in a short time if you know the spawn spots, plus you'll stock up on upgrade materials at the same time so you won't have to farm them later.

Cool, thanks. I think that I'll just find a good checkpoint in weekly and repeatedly farm majors.

If you are farming glimmer remember to apply the appropriate glimmer boost. I always forget to use them and have 30 or so of each in stock still.

Question regarding Vanguard Master weapon sale:
1) Do these ever get refreshed?
2) What should I buy if I have the marks?
Auto Rifle: Shadow Price / Dr. Nope Pulse Rifle: Super POX VLO / Bad Seed Down Scout Rifle: Proxima Centuary II / A.1 F19X-RYL Hand Cannon: The Devil You Know
Fusion Rifle: Light/Beware Shotty: The Comedian Sniper Rifle: Epitaph 2261 Machine Gun: The Swarm Rocket Launcher: Unfriendly Giant
I already own Proximay Centaury, Light/Beware, Comdian, and Unfriendly Giant. I have decent AutoRs and I don't care much about PulseRs. That leaves me to the following 3 choices:
1) The Devil You Know 2) Epitaph 2261 3) The Swarm
I heard great reviews about 1 & 3 while the most I need is a legendary SR. Bros, what do you recommend in my situation?

I've checked fairly frequently and no, those never get refreshed. the only thing maybe is that they might get different damage types?

The names and base stats on the weapons don't change, but their damage type and abilities/modifiers do. Destiny Timers app shows them refreshing every 3 hours, just like the gunsmith, so if nothing looks that great at the moment, just wait until something with the damage type you need or better modifiers shows up.

Question:
Last night I received my first exotic weapons quest. I chose the "Complete a total of 5 strikes without dying" part 1 from the Warlock vanguard master.
Does this mean, I can run the Devil's Lair 5 times, and so long as I don't die... I should fulfill it. Or is it 5 different strikes?
EDIT: I shoulda done some research before accepting this one... apparently it gives me an exotic shotgun... which is a great weapon said no one ever
Although one of the upgrades is a ammo regener..... hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Nope, it's any 5 strikes. So yeah, Devil'l Lair 5 times in a row will work just fine.

Yup. That's the same one I did. It's a pretty quick grind if you drive through the rocket yard on your speeder. In fact if you stay on it you can drive all the way to the big fight with the laser mines.
I'll run 'em with you if I see you on and you're not done. We should definitely hook up for the next leg in the Crucible.

Related to my earlier questions on what weapon to buy from Vanguard Quartermaster:
Q: Am I right in assuming that Vanguard Marks are only good for weapon and armor purchases? All my characters have legendary or exotic armors now, so the only things left to buy are the weapon offerings from Vanguard Quartermaster?
Q: Since Vanguard Quatermaster never refreshes the weapons themselves, only the talents and damage types (?), there is no reason for me to hold off my purchase if I see a good talent/damage type combo for a weapon, right? No need to save the marks for future spendings? (i.e.: the best I can do is to get the same weapon with better talents)
If that's the case, I may just buy the weapons I want. If I later get better drops from loot, it is not much of a waste because I can't use the marks for better buy anyway...

Yep, another Destiny classic. When you really need the gear the Vanguard reps sell, you probably won't have earned enough marks. When you have finally earned enough marks, you likely will no longer need the gear.

So I've received the exact same exotic bounty collection 4 times across three characters. Is there some kind of "lock" to be unlocked... saying to finish one or all bounties before another selection may become available? Also... if you dismiss the bounty, will it continue to show up or be gone?

Someone... let's name him.... oh, I don't know... "Marko" .... has maxed out his weekly vanguard marks. "Marko" did 10 on Monday, 40 on Wednesday, 20 on Thursday, and 30 on Sunday.
FYI: The names, dates, and numbers have been altered to hide the identity of the innocent.
Question: when is this "Marko" allowed to start his weekly vanguard farming again? Will it start next monday, and he's only allowed to collect 10 before he maxes out again? Or is it a hard reset that when a certain time hits, it automatically goes back to 0.

Weekly refresh is tomorrow. Gives me an excuse to play e Crucible because the Vanguard bounties are meh.
You will only be allowed to collect 50 more marks next week because you hit 200, unless you spend some.

I think everything weekly like that resets on Tuesdays? You're definitely getting your legendary helmet sooner than I am. I was just 3 motes of light away from grabbing that exotic engram from Xur after all those heroic missions. grrr... I definitely gotta start doing those every week. I need to hit those patrols and work on Rank 3 for the weapons too. Those minotaurs were srs business.
BTW You should definitely work on your sunsinger. I don't recommend it for PvP, (though it's doable) but it's pretty great for PvE. Conversly I need to start working on my voidwalker again now that I've capped sunsinger. ;3
Huzzah I acquired exotic armor (bought the PvE crappy Voidfang, because, reasons) and maxxex out my Sunsinger. Sadly I ran out of time to play Sunday. This week will prolly be doing CoD more than Destiny, but I may go mark hunting or hit the Crucible for my exotic shotgun bounty, or if I see Marko on whatever he needs to work on. Or I might actually play with my RL bro if he's on. He's up to level 18 so not too far from starting the loot grind himself.

First off, thanks Mannon for the fun on Saturday.
He taught me the importance of having weapons with void damage. Here's how we ran that Nexus raid:
First of all, we were dropping down, but we stopped that noise because we wiped like 12 times in a row. Mostly, because mannon would die and waste his super ressing himself to res me. Then we decided to snipe and deal with the teleporting minotaurs. Much better.
Step 1: Up on top of the cliff, Mannon would snipe the minotaurs, hurting them Step 2: Up on top of the cliff, I would snipe the minotaurs, mildly nicking them Step 3: The minotaurs would teleport behind us Step 4: We'd notice and stop sniping. Step 5: I'd get the minotaurs attention, nicking them profusely with my AR or my MG, whittling them down to.... 2/3's health Step 6: I'd die and hopefully, Mannon would be able to take care of them Step 6a: If Mannon does die, hopefully he has his super to res himself.
Literally, I died 30 some (33?) times. That's like 17 away from a PSN trophy of ressing dead guardians. In 1 raid.
Now... in my defense, I had no void weapons, nor have I ever been to Venus before, nor have I ever killed these Vex before. I got good at
1. Aimimg my grenades behind the shield of the boss to actually hurt him 2. Appreciating the value of void damage 3. Switching my camera view from my dead orb to watch Mannon work 4. Making gosh darn golly gee whiz sure if Mannon dies, that I can res him so he doesn't have to waste his super
EDIT: actually... i died 41 times.

Even worse, I remember checking that I had 110, then ran another 6/7 public events getting gold before I even noticed that I stalled out at 112. Oh well.... these things happen. Got to explore the moon some more and got all 5 earth gold chests and do some bounties for rank.

Yeah the boss on the heroic weekly strike made us work for it, mainly because those minotaurs were pretty tough. Towards the end we had a pretty good pattern of dumping a sniper clip into the boss then dealing with the mino behind us. We split up so we would usually not both die and I started using that pillar of rock for cover and to get around behind it while it was distracted by Marko. I prolly should have just used my LMG more than I did since we were too high up to really use it on anything else there wasn't any point saving the ammo and it melted the bastards, but I guess I'm just stingy like that. ;3 Also to be fair to Marko he was usually the one that the Mino went for since I was going around behind it via the pillar and when we were down below I had a much better spot to camp the boss from than he did. Having a void sniper and LMG didn't hurt either.
I think we almost managed it down below but then I got caught behind a piece of cover that wasn't really big enough to shield me from the boss and couldn't extract myself. If I'd been more careful I could have fought off the spawns first then rezzed Marko, but I had my super up so I thought I was invincible. (I wasn't.) ;3 The ledge probably worked better or rather slower but once we figured out how to survive the mino behind us it was a bit less heart attack inducing as all the spawns down below would often nearly kill me as well as marko almost every time.
On the other hand we slaughtered the daily heroic easily. That was some pretty good fun. I need to do these heroic things all the time. Anyway, it was a blast. Looking forward to more, and mebbe we'll be hitting VoG about the same time too if I don't get too far behind due to CoD.
